1. This is a fish named, George, and he got left in a bowl that is away from all of his friends.
He was put into this bowl because he had cancer and was going to die in the next couple of days.
One day, his owner put his bowl next to his friends bowl and they could see each other, but could
not play or talk to them. He felt very alone and he wanted to join them.
George did exercises in his bowl for many hours a day and he got the courage to try to
jump to his friends bowl. He knew that if he did not make it, he would die. If he did make it, he
would be so happy to see, play, and talk to his friends. He was very scared but he knew that he
had cancer and he was going to die in the next couple weeks, so he got the courage to jump. He
got a swimming start and jumped.
He made the jump! He was so happy to see his friends and play with them. He told his
friends that he had cancer and that was why he was in the other tank. His friends hugged him and
shared there last couple weeks having fun and living life to the fullest.
One lesson we can learn from George is that he symbolizes society. People do not like to
stand out from the crowd, they want to fit in with everybody else. George is jumping to the other
bowl that has his friends because he wants to fit in and play with them. He does not want to be
alone, so he took a leap of faith to the other bowl to join its friends. In society, people do not
want to be alone, so they join the crowd in order to fit in.
