3. Problem Statement
• People use gadgets to improve their daily work
• More gadgets mean more sockets, more wires
• Imagine a world without wires
Undergraduate Final Year Project Presentation

4. Proposed Solution
Undergraduate Final Year Project Presentation
Dated: 1st April, 2018
• Wireless Power Transmission
• Among different ways of power transmission,
transmission using magnetic resonance is the most
efficient one.
• Efficient in terms of health, amount of power
transmitted, resources used, etc.
5. Continued…
• A sole transmitter can power multiple appliances
• Efficiency increases with number of appliances
• “Power transfer” and the “distance of transmission” has been
focused.
• Ways to minimize the losses have been carried out through
the project and have been focused.

10. Applications
• Wireless Energy Transmission
• High Frequency Metal Welding
• X-Rays Production
• Electro Therapy
• Electrical Lightening Exp.
i. Dielectric and Insulation testing
ii. Surge arrester testing
iii. Study of Corona and air breakdown mechanisms
Undergraduate Final Year Project Presentation
Dated: 1st April, 2018
11. Audience
• People who are looking forward to get rid of wires
• Researchers working on WPT.
• Educational demonstration
Undergraduate Final Year Project Presentation
Dated: 1st April, 2018
12. What we have done so far?:
• Air breakdown voltage achieved
NST along with capacitor bank
• Rotatory spark gap
When does spark gap fires?
i. Every time capacitor reaches a certain voltage
ii. Discharge takes place through the rotating electrode
iii. Distance b/w the spark gaps must be carefully chosen

13. Continued…
• Protection circuit
Terry Filter
i. A low pass filter (stops RFI from getting into transf.)
ii. Protects transformer from high voltage surges
• Capacitor bank

15. Continued…
• Transmitter
Secondary winding
i. High frequency
ii. Low current
Turn Ratio=0.014
Secondary LC circuit
i. Secondary capacitor (Top Load)
Undergraduate Final Year Project Presentation

16. Hardware Developed
• Terry Filter
• Rotatory Spark Gaps
• Capacitor Bank
• Tesla coil prototype is ready
Undergraduate Final Year Project Presentation
Dated: 1st April, 2018
17. Tests performed
• Test 1
Failed, Problem in grounding, no sparks produced, hissing sound did
exist
• Test2
Failed, Stand with spark gaps in HV conducted providing a short
circuiting,
• Test3
Failed, Arching was produced between primary coils because of the
stand which was conducting and was directly placed on the ground.
Undergraduate Final Year Project Presentation
Dated: 1st April, 2018
18. Continued…
• Test4
Failed, Firing happened between terminals of the terry filter and
the grounding rod. Uneven firing was seen between the grounding
bobs.
• Test5
Failed, Firing happened between the terminals of the terry filter.
• Test6
Firing did not happen between the spark gap
• Test7
Succeeded!
