FUTURE PERFECT Mr. Yusuf Ismail,
S.Pd
THE PURPOSE OF FUTURE
PERFECT TENSE
Future Perfect is used to show that we
think something will have completed
by a certain point in the future. We
can also say that it is used to make a
prediction about an action that we
expect to be completed in the future.
CHARACTERISTICS
1. We often use “by” with the Future Perfect. It
means “at” or “before”.
Ex: by this afternoon, by the time we get home, by
the end of the year, by 2022, by August, by 5.00
p.m. tomorrow, etc.
2. We usually use a time adverb/phrase with Future
Perfect.
Ex: soon, as soon as possible, shortly, in a short
time, within next hour, within the next week, in a
minute, etc.
EXAMPLES
By five o’clock on Saturday, we will have finished
every single assignment.
I will have landed at the Soekarno-Hatta airport by
7.15pm this evening.
By the time mom arrives home, I will have finished
all the housework.
Indonesia will have been a developed country by
2050.
Shizuka will have finished her singing within two
hours.
Kintan will have done her task from her teacher by
