The document discusses digital and learning trends, including blending media spaces, improved interactions, creating educational experiences, focusing on learning design, and applying learning research to practice. It addresses different modes of interaction - individual/isolated, contributing to a shared endeavor, and socializing without goals. Opportunities for organizations to shift from transmission to transformational learning are explored, as well as legacy education issues like certification versus competency and knowledge acquisition versus performance outcomes.

1\ARCHITECTURE AND NATION BUILDING IN THE AGE OF GLOBALIZATION: CONSTRUCTION OF THE NATIONAL STADIUM OF BEIJING FOR THE 2008 OLYMPICS
This study examines the relationship between architecture and nation building in the age of globalization, with an analysis of the debates and controversies about the National Stadium, the main sports venue for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. The article argues that nationalism, along with the cultural ideology of global consumerism, drives the production of flagship architectural projects in China. The dilemma between nationalism and global consumerism has led state politicians and bureaucrats to opt for a global architectural language to narrate national ambitions. The study reveals the rationale underlying the search for global architecture among political elites in China, as well as its mixed consequences for local cultural discourses and politics.
2\Modernizing China in the Olympic spotlight: China’s national identity and the 2008 Beijing Olympiad
3\Good culture, bad culture...no culture! The implications of culture in urban regeneration in Bradford, UK
This paper shows how regeneration policies in Bradford (UK) have over the years been modified following local, national and international events since 1997. It will be argued that policy makers reacted to pub- lic perceptions of the city itself and of its large Muslim community in three phases: celebration of local minority ethnic culture; pathologi- zation of the same; exclusion of any cultural element from the city’s self-projection. The paper suggests that these changes are at the same time reflexive of historical events and hegemonic discourses, and likely to be constitutive (as they have the potential to deeply affect social relations in the city). Further investigation is required to measure such constitutive long-term effects on minority ethnic groups and social relations in the city.
Keep Control of Your Firm with Private Equity ThinkingAndy Birol
How can private and family businesses take control and predetermine their future?
Owners of financially valuable and highly admired firms understand that creation of wealth comes from seizing and converting future opportunities into positive cash flow. This accomplishment comes from the synthesis of their business curiosity, original thinking, courageous leadership, and mastery of risk and return.
These owners run their businesses as if the firm is owned by outside investors. Yet, they never depend on such investors, keeping their firms to sell or run as they choose.

Building Enterprise Products - For Moving Targets of Customer Needs and OutcomesMurali Erraguntala
Building new product is an exciting phase in the career of every Product Manager and each Product Manager would yearn for an opportunity to conceptualize, build and launch new products. The primary goal of every product manager is to ensure the commercial success of new product. Yet, only 50% of new products succeed [1]. New product development is definitely a challenge and Product Manager falters somewhere during the course of building new product. In order to provide some guidance to build new products, I decided to drop my experiences of building new product. Please note that some of the information listed as part of this guide may be biased because of my experiences of building and sustaining B2B HW product of an existing product line.
The primary reason for drafting the guide is to streamline my experiences of building a new product and share actionable points as part of the guide. I have learned about Product Management by reading books, blogs, articles etc and primarily through my role as a Product Manager. The guide is a way of giving back to my fraternity and sharing my experiences. I would be deeply humbled if someone finds the guide helpful and I am open to comments to make it better. The information shared in this guide is already available in my blog @ www.ProductGuy.in. I appreciate if you could visit my blog and drop your thoughts/comments.

Writing press releases isn't rocket science, it's just a matter of following a few instructions in terms of layout and content. Getting your press releases out there can give your book a great boost and help your SEO and social proof. That's what you need when reporters come looking for an expert for an opinion.
You can cobble together a terrible press release, distribute it [free] online, and still get good backlinks to your site, improve your SEO (search engine optimization - which helps people find your site), and get better social proof (if reporters look you up, they should be able to find you).
If you write a great press release, though, you could get a call from a reporter, wanting to know more, asking you to send photos, requesting an interview.
Don't put it off, get a release out today. Your book deserves to be found and a press release can go a long way towards helping that.

Creating Sticky Learning To Combat Our Illusion Of KnowingJeff Hurt
As adults, we are rather lazy learners.
Much of what we hold as fact regarding learning is actually illusion. We waste a lot of effort, time and resources with common-sense accepted educational practices that are rooted in intuition, tradition and myth.
The most effective learning strategies and education programming are counter-intuitive. We need to build new bridges between our education offerings and the learning research in order to increase our participants’ ROI. We need to develop a deeper understanding of the why and how to create learning opportunities that stick.

The philosopher’s stone lies in turning any cheap metals into precious metals, or into silver.

What is the positive influence of this strong improvement lever on Agile practices? How could a company make its first step towards becoming, or not, an Agile company through a recognition strategy?

A recognition strategy is a key factor for an Agile corporate transformation.
Visual perception- perceptional problems and learning disabilityBabu Appat
A child may not have any problem with his Visual Image Generating System. But may have problem with Visual Image Processing System. Eyes, optic nerve and all other parts of the body involved in sight may be perfectly okay. But the processing of the visual impulses to form an idea about what's seen may be at fault. This will cause dyslexia, math problems and social difficulties.
StartUp Business: Convert your Idea into Something TangibleChristos Pittis
Startup Business: Convert your idea into something tangible
So You Want To Start a Business: Tips for Creating a Startup
If you already have a business idea or plan, it is quite hard to take the idea and convert it into something tangible.
I will show you some of the most important things to consider here.
Here are some general pointers:
• Do not create something you are not passionate about, as you will probably fail to carry through
• Think about this as a project or venture rather than a business
• Simplify the idea, then expand over time
• Spend a lot of time planning the marketing scheme – use as little money as possible
• Outsource things that don’t need to be done in-house
Since your company will be a legal entity, the form of this entity must be considered.
• Consider the legal advantages/disadvantages of each legal structure
• Choose between being an LLC, “C” Corp, or “S” Corp
• Decided where to incorporate based on tax laws, etc.
Any company will need a team which works hard to keep it going.
When making a team, consider the following:
• Think hard about whether or not you need a co-founder – it’s not at all necessary
• Consider the company’s culture
• Designate a CEO, but don’t hire one
You absolutely must brainstorm a clear path to profitability. If you don’t becoming bankrupt is a much bigger possibility.
• Start with 1 income stream
• Back up any financial models with real-life information
• Figure out how many customers you will need to be profitable.
Make sure to secure your intellectual property:
• Get an IRS corporate tax number to apply for a patent
• Make sure you are capable to produce your patent
• If you’re invention is unique, consider a provisional patent
• Consider trademarking your logo, slogan, etc.

There is information on the pitfalls and opportunities with integration and I highlight two marketing models I use - RACE and POEM.
You need innovation as an engine for you conference participants’ success!
This requires that you must break free of Infectious conference learning myths.
Despite our intentions to ensure that all our conference participants learn and network successfully, we seem to be working harder than ever at accomplishing less. And our attendees seem to be more disengaged than ever and longing for more. At any given time 50% or more of our conference attendees are not attending our programming.
In an effort to improve our conferences and help our attendees, we have pushed the existing conference model into hyperdrive, offering more and asking attendees to work at super speeds to consume as much as possible. Our richly-scheduled events—code for overly-scheduled—negatively affect attendees’ learning and quality networking in the long run.
We need to break free of infections myths about conference experiences, learning and networking to find ways to hardwire conferences to organically develop the natural intelligence of our attendees. It requires courage, tenacity and certitude that our conferences can become true learning events that redefine our participants’ 21st century success.

Communicating with the 5 Generations in the WorkplaceMary Erlain, CMS
5 Generations in the Workplace…
This is the root cause of many of the problems in business today that affects growth, productivity, and profitability on the business level, but more importantly erodes valuable relationships in the workplace. Our culture is diverse in age, heritage, gender, etc. This book was written to help bridge the gaps around generational diversity. Whether you are a solo business owner, large company, or any point in between, “Communicating with the 5 Generations in the Workplace” will change the way you view your business world (and maybe help you on the home front too).
There is a great generational divide that exists in our culture which began around 2011. This causes confusion, conflict, productivity challenges, customer issues, leadership and management gaps, and overall tension in the workplace and loss in revenue and profitability. How can we manage these gaps and even more importantly, use them to our advantage?
Develop the understanding and skills to work with ALL of your people in business
Understand the negative consequences of taking the “you are DIFFERENT; therefore WRONG” approach
Reap the rewards of viewing others as “you are NOT WRONG; just DIFFERENT“
This book will help you move from a place of mediocrity and conflict to a state of organizational excellence!
