Presented at the London Book Fair 2012
Subject: Benefits of Automated Content Workflow for Publishers.
Background: Technology has altered how business gets done and the publishing sector is no exception. Independent book stores have given way to superstores and more recently to online and digital retailers. Merger and acquisition activity has changed the structure of the industry with smaller publishing houses disappearing and a few major publishers now dominating different industry segments. Readers are crossing the digital divide, moving from printed materials
to electronic content and e-books. How content gets created, distributed and consumed is vastly different than it was even a decade ago.

Publishing Production: From the Desktop to the CloudDeanta
The publishing landscape is evolving from a format-driven industry to a content-focussed one. As such our processes and technology solutions should adapt to meet these changing needs. This presentation looks at moving from a static desktop-based workflow to that of a collaborative cloud-based one.
In this update of his past presentations on Mobile Eating the World -- delivered most recently at The Guardian's Changing Media Summit -- a16z’s Benedict Evans takes us through how technology is universal through mobile. How mobile is not a subset of the internet anymore. And how mobile (and accompanying trends of cloud and AI) is also driving new productivity tools.
In fact, mobile -- which encompasses everything from drones to cars -- is everything.
In world where content needs to be better structured, we need content architecture. Content architecture is bottom up information architecture focussing on the specification and design of structured content.
Content Management is a complex problem made up of content, people, process and technology. And it's getting harder has we move into a structured content world.
Content Architecture is the design phase for Content Management where we use tools to better abstract and encapsulate content, This presentation defines content architecture.
It is a common opinion that today’s digital libraries (DL) can no longer be simple “expositions’ of digital objects. Users should no more be passive readers, they need to interact with the library, add their annotations and tags, personalize their experience and collaborate with each other. Web 2.0 technologies, such as social bookmarking and online discussions, are already being applied in DLs to allow users to annotate digital objects. However, the lack of semantic structure of such annotations and a clear social model to share and aggregate community contributions makes it difficult to take full advantage of such collaboratively created knowledge.
The SemLib project aims at developing a modular and configurable annotation system that can be easily plugged into existing digital libraries in order to allow end-users as well as digital libraries content curators to produce meaningful and customizable aggregations of semantically structured annotations produced by communities. In this paper we introduce the SemLib project, discussing the principles and ideas behind the proposed annotation system, and present a prototypal implementation.
Pundit: Semantically Structured Annotations for Web Contents and Digital Libr...SemLib Project
Pundit is a novel semantic annotation tool that allows users to create structured data while annotating Web pages relying on stand-off mark-up techniques. Pundit provides support for different types of annotations, ranging from simple comments to se- mantic links to Web of data entities and fine granular cross-references and citations. In addition, it can be configured to include custom con- trolled vocabularies and has been designed to enable groups of users to share their annotations and collaboratively create structured knowledge. Pundit allows creating semantically typed relations among heterogeneous resources, both having different multimedia formats and belonging to dif- ferent pages and domains. In this way, annotations can reinforce existing data connections or create new ones and augment original information generating new semantically structured aggregations of knowledge. These can later be exploited both by other users to better navigate Digital Libraries and Web content, and by applications to improve data management.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Editor's Notes
through acquisition of products or companies. While the impetus was often to bring broader content, additional properties or advanced functionality and services to readers, multiple independent workflows have contributed to complexity, redundancies, legacy applications and other inefficiencies.Publishing workflow is complex and efficiency can make or break the organization. Most large-scale publishers produce several newspapers and magazines, manage a variety of Web sites and might possibly be involved in radio or television broadcast. In an ideal world, every editorial team would work together to share information and assets, including photos, articles, audio and videos. However, with manual processes, synchronizing content across multiple properties is not that easy.
