- #9 First you need to Dream Big. Our Board of Management worked with experts in the business planning field to develop a clear Vision, Mission, Purpose for the organisation underpinned with our Hedweld Values. We then created a 3 year Strategic Business Plan-on-a-page albeit an A3 double sided page. Having the discipline to do this process has created many benefits including prioritising our goals and objectives given the recent downturn in the mining industry.
- #10 Tip 2 is to involve your team in the planning process. At Hedweld during the planning stage we identified key areas where we needed to look at the business afresh, so we conducted an innovation workshop to activate innovation at all levels of the organisation and a sales strategy workshop to look into how Hedweld can put the customer at the centre of all business decisions. In addition to this each department has their own 12 month plan aligned to the Group plan so we all know we are pulling in the same direction.
