The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive functioning. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against mental illness and improve symptoms.
IEB Regional Meeting, Western Cape Jan 2014, for Mathematics and Physical Sci...Mark Horner
The document discusses opportunities for 21st century teachers in a world with open data, MOOCs, open content and analytics. It encourages teachers not to panic about technological changes and to extract value from opportunities like open educational resources, blogging, social media and citizen science rather than being sentimental about traditional models of education. The document provides examples of how teachers can get involved in online communities through following educators on Twitter and starting their own blog to reflect on and improve their teaching practice.
The document contains graphs and tables showing the instantaneous velocity, average velocity, displacement, and time of an object over a period of 7 seconds. It shows that the instantaneous velocity increases linearly with time from 0 to 12 m/s, while the average velocity increases steadily from 0 to 6 m/s. The total displacement of the object was 36 m over the time period.

5 quick slides I flashed during a panel discussion on professional development in Mathematics at the AMESA Congress in Durban on the 31st of March 2010.
The annual results presentation of the Hera Group reported continued good and consistent results for 2011. Key highlights included an 11.3% increase in revenues, 6.2% growth in EBITDA to €37.4 million, and a 7.6% increase in pre-tax profits to €221 million. The energy sectors contributed significantly to growth due to commercial developments and procurement policies. Productivity across the company structure also increased. Organic growth and new plants contributed to results along with two acquisitions completed in 2011.
FullMarks allows users to create online tests and score sheets to analyze student results. Teachers can build tests by adding questions from a bank or importing them. Once tests are completed, score sheets can be generated by adding student class lists. Teachers then enter marks and FullMarks provides performance reports at both the class and individual level, analyzing results by standard, question, or overall test performance. It also allows question creation and sharing within a teacher community.

The document discusses the concepts of mass, weight, potential energy, kinetic energy, and their relationships. It provides examples of calculating potential energy using the formula PE=mgh, kinetic energy using the formula KE=1/2mv^2, and shows that the total mechanical energy of a system remains constant. It then works through an example of calculating the maximum speed of a person on a slingshot pendulum.

This document provides an introduction to questionnaire design. It discusses important considerations for writing questions, such as ensuring respondents understand the question and are willing and able to answer. It also covers drafting and organizing questionnaires, including ordering questions by topic, starting with easy questions, and testing the questionnaire. The goal is to design questionnaires that yield accurate, truthful answers from respondents.
The document discusses the process of designing and developing a questionnaire for research. It covers topics such as identifying the goal and target respondents, choosing appropriate question types like rating scales and open-ended questions, ordering questions, pre-testing the questionnaire, and distributing it. The key steps outlined are deciding what information is needed, defining respondents, developing question content and wording, ordering questions, checking length, pre-testing, and distributing the questionnaire via methods like online surveys or interviews. Reliability of the questionnaire can be tested using Cronbach's alpha analysis.
The document discusses the process of designing and administering questionnaires for surveys, including determining what questions to ask, how to phrase and order questions, pre-testing questionnaires, and addressing potential sources of error, with the key points being that question wording, order, and layout are critical to collecting accurate and relevant data, and questionnaires must be pre-tested and revised as needed.
This document discusses developing tools to facilitate effective online discussions. It recommends establishing clear guidelines for student participation, including expected quantity and quality of posts. Instructors should model discussion participation by asking Socratic questions and providing feedback. Rubrics can be used to assess student posts and provide guidance on areas for improvement. The goal is to move students beyond simple agreement posts and encourage critical thinking through probing questions and substantive discussion.
The document provides information about group discussions, including what they are, types of group discussions, importance of group discussions, and tips for preparing for and participating in group discussions. Some key points:
- Group discussions are used in recruitment and admissions processes to evaluate candidates' communication, leadership, and analytical skills in a group setting.
- There are three main types: topic-based discussions, case studies, and group tasks. Topic-based discussions use factual, controversial, or abstract topics. Case studies present real-life situations.
- Group discussions are important for developing critical thinking, decision-making, confidence, and listening skills. They also assess natural leadership abilities.
- Preparing includes developing knowledge,
The document summarizes information about psychometric testing and assessment centers. It discusses what psychometric tests and assessment centers are, what they measure, common tests and activities, strategies for preparation and participation, and tips for performance. Example tests include personality inventories, aptitude tests in areas like verbal reasoning, strategies for preparation include practicing sample tests and familiarizing with the job description.
This document provides the results of a StrengthsFinder assessment for an individual named Kevin Manning. It identifies his top 5 strengths as Learner, Analytical, Responsibility, Harmony, and Input. For each strength, it provides a description, personalized insights about Kevin, and questions for him to reflect on to better understand and apply his strengths. This chapter discusses survey research, including its uses, strengths, and weaknesses. It covers how to design effective survey questions and questionnaires. Key aspects of survey design include determining the research question and hypothesis, sampling strategy, and study design. Considerations for writing survey questions include making them concise and easy to understand, avoiding double-barreled or leading questions, and ensuring neutral wording. The order of questions and inclusion of filter questions are also important. Effective survey design requires pretesting and getting feedback to improve questions before full administration.
Online Discussions, Guidelines and Suggestionscindyk562
Online discussions serve the same purpose as face-to-face discussions by allowing students to question concepts, share ideas and experiences, and gain a deeper understanding of course material. The goals are to reach a shared understanding or identify multiple perspectives on a topic. Students are encouraged to ask questions, respond thoughtfully, provide support and examples, and move the discussion forward to deepen learning. Instructors will grade discussions based on the quality, insightfulness, and contribution of student posts.
The document is a StrengthsFinder report that identifies an individual's top 5 themes: Strategic, Maximizer, Self-Assurance, Futuristic, and Achiever.
