FROM STUDENT TO
WORKER
Empathy Map &
Problem Statement
EMPATHY MAP: LEFT SIDE
Say
•“It is difficult to adapt to the change.”
•“There‟s a lot of social pressure:
„you have a career, aren‟t you
supposed to be working by now?‟ ”
•“I went from being extremely busy
with my career to feeling extremely
free, even after I found a job!”
Do
•Tried several options.
•A lot of interviews.
•Since money was an important
factor, he took a job that wasn‟t
involved with his career since he
couldn‟t find a job.
•Enrolled as a half time intern to gain
experience
EMPATHY MAP: RIGHT SIDE
Think
•There should be an easier transition
between being just a student and
being a full time worker.
•There shouldn‟t be any social
pressure about finishing your career.
•It would be nice to “force” students
to get an intern job in their area,
since while studying we are still
young and somehow unaware of the
world.
Feel
•He should have taken a mid time job
to gain experience while studying.
•Interviews made him nervous.
•Really desperate since he couldn‟t
find a job soon.
•Felt regret for not getting an intern
job while still studying.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
•Students half way to finish their careers, need to prepare to the world after
school by being motivated to get an intern job and make them more aware of
what‟s after school.
