Frisbee originated in the United States in the 1950s when students at Yale University began throwing around the metal bases of "Frisbee Pie Company" pies for fun. The game grew in popularity on college campuses and in 1967 the rules for "Ultimate Frisbee" were established. The document then outlines different grips for throwing a frisbee, techniques for receiving throws, and describes two main competitive modalities - individual skill games like distance throwing and catch-and-run relays, as well as Ultimate Frisbee which is played in teams of 7 with the objective of passing the frisbee into the opponent's goal area.
