De Quervain's syndrome is a repetitive strain injury of the muscle sheath that
surrounds two tendons that control the movement of the thumb.
Symptoms include pain at the radial side of the wrist, spasms, tenderness,
occasional burning sensation in the hand, and swelling over the thumb side of
the wrist, and difficulty gripping with the affected side of the hand. The onset is
often gradual. Pain is made worse by movement of the thumb and wrist, and
may radiate to the thumb or the forearm.
The exact cause of De Quervain's syndrome is not established. However,
researchers in France found personal and work-related factors were associated
with De Quervain's syndrome in the working population. Many doctors and
researchers believe that one of the major causes of De Quervain’s syndrome
might be the excessive use of the thumb for texting.
Due to this particular reason, this syndrome has been nicknamed X, after a now
“almost obsolete” piece of technology.

The Western District Public Cargo Working Area, popularly known as the X Pier is a
pier located on the waterfront of Sai Wan in Hong Kong. It is one of the six public
cargo working areas managed by the Marine Department of HKSAR. Since the
replacement of small and medium companies by large transportation corporations,
the usage of the Western District Public Cargo Working Area has become more
infrequent. People generally go there for walking their dogs or for fishing.
X Pier is well-known by the public because of its clear view of the Victoria Harbour.
Public has named this harbour as “X Pier” because it has become a new favourite
spot for photographers. In X Pier, a person can take some good pictures with the
view of Hong Kong city in the backdrop. Sunset, old lamp post with the black and
yellow pattern, cargo pallets etc., all of these become a photographic tool and
background for someone’s photo. The most famous scene is the “Mirror in the Sky”
which could only be taken at this place. The reason for this name is due to the
reflection of water. After rains, the floor will have a thick layer of water. The water
reflects people’s shadows. Therefore, the stunning sunset sets off the “Mirror of the
sky”. (Image on the next slide)

In July 2012, X, first mentioned that he was thinking about a concept for a "fifth mode of
transport", calling it the Y.
X described several characteristics of what he wanted in a hypothetical high speed
transportation system like - immunity to weather, cars that never experience crashes, an
average speed twice that of a typical jet, low power requirements, and the ability to
store energy for 24 hour operations. X has likened the Y to a "cross between a
Concorde and a railgun and an air hockey table”, while noting that Y has no need for
rails. X believes that Y could work either below or above ground.
From late 2012 until August 2013, an informal group of engineers at the companies Z
and W worked on the conceptual foundation and modelling of Y, allocating some full-
time effort to Y. An early design for the system was then published in a paper posted on
the blogs of Z and W.
In January 2015, X announced that he would construct a Y test track, which may be
located in Texas. The track would be a ____ of around 8 kms in length and would be
entirely privately funded. It would allow university and private teams to test and refine
different ____________ designs.
In June 2015, Z announced that it would build a 1.6 kms long test track to be located

X is a private liberal arts college founded in the year 1908. It is located in
southeast Portland in the U.S. state of Oregon. The official mascot of X is the
Griffin.
X was founded explicitly in reaction to the "prevailing model of East Coast,
Ivy League education”. X's lack of varsity athletics, fraternities, and exclusive
social clubs – as well as its coeducational, nonsectarian, and egalitarian
status – gave way to an intensely academic and intellectual college whose
purpose was to devote itself to the academic life. X also has a reputation for
political liberalism.
Since the 1960s, X has had a reputation for tolerating open drug use among
its students. According to students, X does not bust students for drug or
alcohol use unless they cause harm or embarrassment to another student.

Robert Allen Zimmerman is an American singer and songwriter. He has been

most celebrated work dates from the 1960s when his songs chronicled social

lyrics should be studied in schools. Since 1996, academics have lobbied the
