Freedom Square is the largest public square in Tbilisi, Georgia, home to a monument commemorating the country's War of Independence. Located at the intersection of six major streets, the square was originally named after an imperial Russian general but has held various names over time, reflecting Georgia's changing political climate. Important both for demonstrations and celebrations, Freedom Square was the site of a famous bank robbery in 1907 and more recently hosted large crowds for independence movements as well as a speech by the U.S. President where an assassination attempt occurred via grenade.
