Personal statement
I am currently a student at York College studying level 2 media. I am currently on my second year and
hope to progress onto level 3 next year. I am working towards my black belt in karate, and have been
participating in the sport for around 8 years. Because of this I have gained not only physical strength,
buy mental strength. I have gained an amazing amount of confidence. I have also learned a lot that
can be translated into my day to day life. For example I can understand and speak basic Japanese
and I earned my first aid certificate.
I participated in “work experience” at school and have gained experience working with the elderly.
Doing so taught me how to speak to people that need help, how to look after people by being
empathetic and overall social skills.
I consider myself to be an outgoing friendly person. I’m laid back but can defiantly work hard when
needed.

I am involved in a local amateur dramatics society, where I volunteer as a lighting and sound
