6 How is the cinema in Lyon
and for who is it ?
1 The beginning of the cinema
The cinema was born in our city (Lyon) in 1895. August
and Louis Lumiere are the first who invented the
cinema with the help of different materials like:
thaumatrope:
Praxinoscope:
Kinescope:
Their technical was moving a lot of pictures with their
specific equipment and since this evenement it was
the birth of the cinema and the origin of the first film
projection, in 1895, in Paris. In France, we call the
cinema the seventh art. August and Louis are brothers
and we call them the Lumière brothers (in French: Les
frères Lumière).
Many places in Lyon are bearing The Lumiere name,
for example: universities, subway stations, high
schools, institutes...

A high school
Near the subway station, there is the house of august
and Louis. Today their house is a museum of the
cinematography.
2 Kind of movies…
There are a lot of kinds of films: horror, adventure,
science fiction Action, Comedy, Fantastic, Drama,
cartoons (ex: Roi lion, Age de Glace), Suspense…In our
cinema, we can find all the kinds of films. We can also
choose how to lo watch our film, for example the 3D,
4D, 5D, 6D, and 7D. Watching a film in 3D version is
more expansive than watching a normal film if you
buy the glasses, if not you pay 6 euro 80. 4D film or 4-
D film is a marketing term for an entertainment
presentation system combining a 3D film with physical
effects. 4D films have occasionally been marketed as
5D, 6D, or 7D films in order to emphasize the variety
or uniqueness of their theatre effects. However, there
is no consistent standard among films for the
application of these marketing labels. In Lyon, people
can watch 5D film but that is more expensive( 5 euro
for 5 minutes) because you can smell, move, feel,
touch while watching the film.

5 The cinema in the world
Many films, actors and scenarists in the world are
coming from USA so the films in France, Turkey, Spain,
Belgic and Italia are the most Americans.
In Belgic: The Kinepolis Group is a Belgian chain of
movie theatres conceived in 1997 which consist of 23
Cinema complexes in Europe, representing a total of
317 theatres. They received about 22 million visitors in
2008. Kinepolis is listed on the Brussels stock
exchange.
In Spain: The art of motion-picture making within the
Kingdom of Spain or by Spanish filmmakers abroad is
collectively known as Spanish Cinema.
In recent years, Spanish cinema has achieved high
marks of recognition. In the long history of Spanish
cinema, the great filmmaker Luis Buñuel was the first
to achieve universal recognition, followed by Pedro
Almodóvar in the 1980s. Spanish cinema has also seen
international success over the years with films by
directors like Segundo de Chomón, Florián Rey, Luis
García Berlanga, Juan Antonio Bardem, Carlos Saura,
Julio Médem and Alejandro Amenábar. Woody Allen,
upon receiving the prestigious Prince of Asturias
Award in 2002 in Oviedo remarked: "when I left New
York, the most exciting film in the city at the time was
Spanish, Pedro Almodovar's one. I hope that
Europeans will continue to lead the way in film
making because at the moment not much is coming
from the United States.
In Italia: The cinema of Italy traces the development of
Italian cinema which began just a few months after
the first public film screening by the French Lumière
brothers, which took place in Paris on 28 December
1895.[1] The Lumière brothers commenced public
screenings in Italy in 1896: in March 1896, in Rome
and Milan; in April in Naples, Salerno and Bari; in June
in Livorno; in August in Bergamo, Bologna and
Ravenna; in October in Ancona and in December in
Turin, Pescara and Reggio Calabria. Local film
production commenced in 1903.
In Turkey: Turkish cinema is an important part of
Turkish culture, and has flourished over the years,
delivering entertainment to audiences in Turkey,
expatriates across Europe, more recently prospering in
the Arab world and in rare cases, the USA.
