Petrobras P 40 FPU Semi-submersible
Offshore Conversion of the world's largest derrick crane semi-submersible to a Floating Production Unit at

P-40 and P-38 made up Production Development Module 1 for the Marlim Sul field.

Platforms P-40 and P-38 arrived in Rio's Guanabara Bay in January 2001. Semi submersible platform P-
40 was one of the largest floating production units in the world, with sufficient capacity to process 150
thousand barrels of oil, compress six million cubic meters of gas and inject 220 thousand barrels of water
per day. 28 wells were connected to the platform, of which 17 were oil producers and the others for
injecting water. Flexible lines would transfer oil produced from the wells directly to production platform P-
40, anchored at a depth of 1,080 meters. After processing, the oil is transferred to storage unit P-38,
anchored at a distance of about 6 km from P-40. The oil was then transported by oil tankers to onshore
terminals from which it was pumped to refineries. Gas produced by P-40 was transported onshore by a
high-pressure gas pipeline. P-40 used Fluid Technologies Deaerator / Gas Strip.

Petrobras P 38 Floating Storage and Offloading unit (FSO)

Platforms P-40 and P-38 arrived in Guanabara Bay in January 2001. P-38 is an FSO (Floating, Storage
and Offloading) vessel, used to store and transfer processed oil to a type of oil tanker called a "shuttle
tanker". P-38 had sufficient capacity to store 1,855 thousand barrels of oil. Together P-40 and P-38 made
up Production Development Module 1 for the Marlim Sul field.


Petrobras P 37 FPSO (Floating Production Storage Offloading unit)

Also within the scope of Module 1, FPSO P-37 had 17 producing and 12 injector wells for interconnected
operation within Module 1. Petrobras converted another tanker vessel, MV "Friendship", into the FPSO
P-37 with a process capability of 150,000 bopd. designed to be fed by four subsea manifolds, 20
production wells and 15 subsea injection wells. P-37 used Fluid Technologies Deaerator / Gas Strip and
Produced Water System with Degasser, Flotation Hydrocyclones.

Petrobras P 43           FPSO
Built June 2001 - completed August, 2003 - for Barracuda Field, Campos Basin (offshore Rio de Janeiro
State) at Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd (JSPL) / Sembcorp Marine, Singapore

Deadweight: 318,000 dwt                               Dimensions: 337.05m x 64.5m x 27.07m
Oil Production Capacity: 150,000 bpd    Gas: 6.0 million m3/Day Oil Storage capacity: 2.0 million bbl
Operating Water Depth: 800 m (2,625 ft)

Petrobras’ P 43 FPSO is one of the world’s largest with a weight 318,000 dwt, 337 meters long and 65
meters high. It was converted from a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) and put into operation in 2004. It
accommodated a staff of 100 people. P43 was linked to 21 production and 14 injection wells at 800 m
depth 160 km off Brazil’s coast. It has capacity to process 150,000 barrels of oil/day and store more than
1 million barrels. Gas compression capacity is 6 million m3/day. Oil was offloaded to a shuttle tanker and
gas was transported to the shore via pipeline. Petrobras used the ABS-classed VLCC vessel, "Stena
Continent" for the P-43. The P-43 has a DICAS (Differentiated Compliant Anchoring System) spread
mooring system, developed by the Petrobras Research Center (CENPES).

Topside Modules fabrication & installation

Maua Jurong Brasil S.A. built and installed 12 Topside modules, combined total 28,000 tons at 113
million USD cost for the P-43 in Brazil, fabricated in 2003 year, and completing installation in July 2004.

FPU FPSO & FSO Experince With Petrobras

(page 1 of 4) Petrobras P 40 FPU Semi-submersible Offshore Conversion of the world's largest derrick crane semi-submersible to a Floating Production Unit at Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd (JSPL) / Sembcorp Marine, Singapore Built 1999 - completed December, 2000 - for Campos Basin (offshore Rio de Janeiro State) Deadweight: 54,000 t Dimensions: 124m x 84m x 40m Oil Production Capacity: 150,000 bpd Gas: 6.0 million m3/Day Water: 35,000 m3/Day Operating Water Depth: 1080 m (3,412 ft) P-40 and P-38 made up Production Development Module 1 for the Marlim Sul field. Platforms P-40 and P-38 arrived in Rio's Guanabara Bay in January 2001. Semi submersible platform P- 40 was one of the largest floating production units in the world, with sufficient capacity to process 150 thousand barrels of oil, compress six million cubic meters of gas and inject 220 thousand barrels of water per day. 28 wells were connected to the platform, of which 17 were oil producers and the others for injecting water. Flexible lines would transfer oil produced from the wells directly to production platform P- 40, anchored at a depth of 1,080 meters. After processing, the oil is transferred to storage unit P-38, anchored at a distance of about 6 km from P-40. The oil was then transported by oil tankers to onshore terminals from which it was pumped to refineries. Gas produced by P-40 was transported onshore by a high-pressure gas pipeline. P-40 used Fluid Technologies Deaerator / Gas Strip. Petrobras P 38 Floating Storage and Offloading unit (FSO) Offshore Conversion of a tanker to a Floating Storage and Offloading unit at Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd (JSPL) / Sembcorp Marine, Singapore Built 1999 - completed December, 2000 - for Campos Basin (offshore Rio de Janeiro State) Deadweight: 260,000 dwt Dimensions: 338m x 52m x 21m Storage Capacity: 2,000,000 bbl Operating Water Depth: 1080 m (3,412 ft)

P-38 is an FSO (Floating, Storage and Offloading) vessel, used to store and transfer processed oil to a type of oil tanker called a "shuttle tanker". P-38 had sufficient capacity to store 1,855 thousand barrels of oil. Together P-40 and P-38 made up Production Development Module 1 for the Marlim Sul field. Petrobras P 37 FPSO (Floating Production Storage Offloading unit) Offshore Conversion of a tanker M/V "Friendship" to a Floating Storage Production and Offloading unit at Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd (JSPL) / Sembcorp Marine, Singapore Built 1999 - completed December, 1999 - for Campos Basin (offshore Rio de Janeiro State) Deadweight: 260,000 dwt Dimensions: 321m x 54m x 26m Production Capacity: 150,000 bpd Storage Capacity: 2,000,000 bbl Gas: 4.65 million m3/D Water: 32,000 m3/D Operating Water Depth: 905 m (2,950 ft) Also within the scope of Module 1, FPSO P-37 had 17 producing and 12 injector wells for interconnected operation within Module 1. Petrobras converted another tanker vessel, MV "Friendship", into the FPSO P-37 with a process capability of 150,000 bopd. designed to be fed by four subsea manifolds, 20 production wells and 15 subsea injection wells. P-37 used Fluid Technologies Deaerator / Gas Strip and Produced Water System with Degasser, Flotation Hydrocyclones. Petrobras P 43 FPSO Built June 2001 - completed August, 2003 - for Barracuda Field, Campos Basin (offshore Rio de Janeiro State) at Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd (JSPL) / Sembcorp Marine, Singapore Deadweight: 318,000 dwt Dimensions: 337.05m x 64.5m x 27.07m Oil Production Capacity: 150,000 bpd Gas: 6.0 million m3/Day Oil Storage capacity: 2.0 million bbl Operating Water Depth: 800 m (2,625 ft) Petrobras’ P 43 FPSO is one of the world’s largest with a weight 318,000 dwt, 337 meters long and 65 meters high. It was converted from a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) and put into operation in 2004. It accommodated a staff of 100 people. P43 was linked to 21 production and 14 injection wells at 800 m depth 160 km off Brazil’s coast. It has capacity to process 150,000 barrels of oil/day and store more than 1 million barrels. Gas compression capacity is 6 million m3/day. Oil was offloaded to a shuttle tanker and gas was transported to the shore via pipeline. Petrobras used the ABS-classed VLCC vessel, "Stena Continent" for the P-43. The P-43 has a DICAS (Differentiated Compliant Anchoring System) spread mooring system, developed by the Petrobras Research Center (CENPES).
