Being a leader needs you to have certain leadership skills as it may sound like a big word once put into practice you will find it easy to carry out your skills on a daily basis.
Most of the time, leaders think about the good leadership qualities and how to apply them on a daily basis.
The most important contribution you can make to your company is to be a leader, accept responsibility for results, and dare to go forward.

12 principles of leadership - Part 1 of 3Kelvin Lim

Leadership starts with the right mindset. Become a leader now.
In today’s world, almost everything is accomplished by
teams. Large companies often use project teams that
span the globe. Small companies use teams to ensure
that their products and services reach their customers.
Non‐profit organizations put teams together to accomplish
goals. Instructors teach and develop curriculum
in teams, and work in teams with counselors, administrators,
and other academic employees. Government
workers from local to national levels work in teams.
Aware of the importance of working with others, academic
institutions have increased the teamwork component
of many courses, and students work together
both in person and online to create documents, put
together presentations, and complete projects.
The prime advantage to working in teams is the
ability to combine skills and talents. An academic or
work team benefits from a wide array of skills that no
single student or employee could possess alone, from
analytical skills to marketing skills to technical skills
and everything in between. Complex projects at school
or in the workplace demand all of these skills, especially when things need to get done in
a specific time frame.

Leadership books abound. Yet there are very few that put Values first before all those leadership skills. In this book, Harry Krammer explains the Four principles of Value-Based leadership and has shared his personal experiences to validate how these principles do work .
When Leaders engage in Self-reflection ( Principle # 1) followed by Balance, True-Self-confidence and Genuine Humility, then the organization has a much greater chance of leading the Values instead of with Egos. He also shares why positive core business ethics create greater shareholder value. One excellent point he discusses is the difference between what is legal and what is right.
Talent Management and leadership development are far more effective when approaching these two elements from a Values driven position. After all, organizations are all about people united to achieve those big, hairy audacious goals that would be fare ore difficult if not impossible to achieve individually.
Silo thinking is also viewed within the circle of Leadership. When this happens, my turf or silo becomes bigger than the organization’s big vision and this creates poor performance.
Another advantage to leading from a position of high ethics is motivation and team engagement. Teams do not come together naturally, but “ are developed purposefully and with intention”.
The end result from Values to Action is precisely that action or execution and implementation. Failed execution can more often than not be laid at the feet of leadership and not extenuating circumstances.
Values are not bullet points on a Corporate website or motivational phrases on a poster in a lunch room.. Some companies talk a good game and have plaques on the wall stating their Mission & Values, but their day-to-day actions tell a different story.
Leaders should Value Values – Values Create Valuation
Professional Development PlanLeadership as a vocation requir.docxdenneymargareta
Professional Development Plan
Leadership as a vocation requires a commitment to professional excellence and integrity, which can be achieved through establishing habits of self-reflection, life-long learning, and professional development. The purpose of this assignment is for you to reflect on where you currently are in your leadership capabilities; define where you want to go; and specify goals, plans, and a timeframe for achieving your professional objectives. Your professional development plan will be composed of three parts: Vision, Goals/Objectives, and Plans.
Vision:
The ability to create, communicate, and compel vision is critical to inspiring and effective leadership. While ultimately many leaders are responsible for developing visions to guide complex organizations, effective leadership begins on a much more personal level—a vision of yourself as a leader. Who are you and who do you want to become in your field or sphere of influence? Once you are clear about that, you can then confidently establish how you will help others and your organization achieve their visions.
Your leadership vision is based on a number of factors including your attitude, values, personal beliefs, guiding principles, and how you behave. It may also be influenced by theoretical, philosophical, or religious frameworks and the leadership traits, values, and behaviors of others. A leadership vision is also dynamic. No great leader ever "arrived." Those who have adopted leadership as their vocation can spend a lifetime in self-reflection in order to continue to learn and more effectively motivate and inspire others.
Spend some time reflecting below on where you currently are in your leadership capabilities, what you have learned about leadership in the course, and how you want to develop and improve as you continue your leadership studies and move forward in your field. Review the document “Essential Leadership Competencies” for an overview of the scope of effective leadership capabilities.
Reflection:
Vision:
Then, in 300-500 words, briefly articulate your vision for yourself as a leader 3-5 years from now. Where do you want to be? What kind of leader do you want to become?
Goals/Objectives:
After you have stated your vision, create five to eight leadership goals/objectives you will strive to meet in the next 3-5 years. Try to formulate at least one goal/objective related to the four major leadership competencies included in "Essential Leadership Competencies": self-leadership, leading others, leading an organization, and leadership as a vocation. Include a brief justification for each goal/objective to explain how it will help you achieve the qualities of professional excellence and integrity required of excellent leaders.
Plan:
Specify activities you will engage in to achieve your goals/objectives. You may find it helpful to research professional development activities in your field or organization to determine what resources are a ...
Putting the SPARK into Virtual Training.pptxCynthia Clay
This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.
Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

2. Leadership development is a process. It takes time
and continuous training. Great leaders are made, not
born. Being an effective leader is more than just
working harder. It is about being an authentic person,
having positive influences on your coworkers and
peers, and helping your team perform as highly as
possible.
3. Here are four principles are discussed by JJ Resnick
for effective leadership that each leader should know
to be successful and to help their team blossom under
their guidance.
4. Leadership is not about the position you hold in an
organization, rather it is your behavior and the
actions that you take to bring change in the system.
Leaders are the ones who empower others to discover
their greatest potential.
Leadership is an attitude
5. Leadership is about taking initiatives, taking
responsibilities and influencing those around you. It's
about how you behave and how you act. After taking
leadership courses, you will get to learn that there are
three key characteristics of leadership-in-action: 1)
They are future-oriented, 2) They are client-focused,
and 3) They are focused on how to help the team
members to succeed.
6. JJ Resnick says the character is an important
element of leadership. The formation of our character
(virtues, values, and traits) creates predictability,
dependability, and consistency in our leadership.
The necessity of developing character
7. Character fundamentally shapes how you engage the
world around you, what you notice and reinforce,
what you value and choose, how we decide...and the
list goes on. By taking a leadership development
program, you will learn how to develop these
qualities and enhance your leadership abilities.
8. You cannot be a great leader without the trust of your
team members and trust is built on a foundation of
empathy and respect for one another.
Build connections
9. Having a good relationship with your work associates
is the best way one can lead. Also, always maintain
personal integrity, develop a great culture in the team
and organization, retain a level of compatibility that
motivates, and be a person people can trust. The best
way to enhance your relationship-building skills is by
taking up leadership courses. When you purposefully
work toward building relationships, you'll become an
effective leader.
10. People will follow you when you have the capacity to
influence them. Do not tell your team members what
to do, instead, show it to them and lead with your
own example. You are a leader and your actions are
followed by others each and every moment. Even
during hard times, you need to show confidence and
be unwavering in your judgment. When you start to
practice what you preach, you will get astonishing
results.
Influence, influence, influence
11. People don't want to be ruled; they want to be
empowered. If you follow these four principles, you
will improve your contribution as a leader and
empower people surrounding you. If you want to
enhance leadership qualities in you, then you enroll
in some leadership courses or in a leadership
development program.
