The document summarizes the evaluation of a media product portfolio for a music magazine aimed at indie music fans aged 17-25. It discusses how the magazine both uses conventions of real magazines, such as advertisements and subscription details, while also challenging conventions with its color scheme and layout. Interviews and fact files about bands were used to attract the target audience. The creator believes Bauer Media would be a good institution to distribute the magazine in print and online formats. Creating the magazine taught the creator skills in using Photoshop Elements and the importance of planning.

3. IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS AND CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS? I believe that the colour scheme challenges the conventions of real media products because it is something that has not been produced on a magazine before and I believe this makes my magazine individual because indie magazines are conventionally black but is not too outrageous and brings something new to the industry. I believe that my main image conforms to conventions because the audience feel invited in by the eye contact from the band members. It is also common for close ups of the artist to be used, as it is welcoming for the audience. I feel the props I used such as the cupcakes are different from the normal magazine props and make my magazine look fun. Corner grabbers and free gifts are very common in magazines and I have decided to merge the two together in order to attract the audience instantly as the free gift is now the first thing they will see when the magazine is on the shelves, almost praying on the audiences greed. Advertisements are a common convention of magazines, especially advertising information, therefore I decided to include information on gigs as well as other articles featured in the magazine. However, unlike many magazines today, I decided not to have many advertisements on the front cover as I felt it looked to crowded and I wanted to leave something for the audience to look forward to reading about and possibly be surprised by. 5. IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS AND CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS? Like most magazines I decided to include subscription details, however I felt that they were a little brief, so i made some changed to them in order to make them more obvious as this would create business for the magazine and sell more copies. Like most contents pages I made the main feature the most obvious part of the contents page. However, this was the only picture I included and I thought it would benefit the contents page more to have more images to make it more interesting, I also added more articles to stick to that convention as without them, the magazine would have very little content and would not b worth the money. 9. HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADDRESS YOUR AUDIENCE? Interview Fact files Individual photos
10. HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADDRESS YOUR AUDIENCE? The fact files I used on the double page spread allowed the audience to learn about each band member. This allowed them to feel like they personally knew each member and would then want to purchase the magazine to read the whole interview if this was the case that a possible buyer had looked through before purchasing. The individual photos along with all the other photographs taken are of the band member making eye contact with the audience. This gives the impression that the band are inviting the reader to join them and give a more welcoming feel to new and loyal readers. This makes the relationship between the artist and the reader more personal. I chose a question and answer interview because I think that it would be more interesting for a reader to have the opinions and chat from people their own age, and it is a little less formal than a piece created by a writer, which would suit the type of language used by young people today, between each other. The interview is also more intimate and does not include other peoples opinions, therefore the readers can really read and learn about new bands. Fact files Individual photos Interview
