 "Ethical leadership is leadership that is directed by respect for
ethical beliefs and values and for the dignity and rights of others“
 Ethical leadership is about leading, inspiring, motivating, and
making the employees feel accountable for their work.When this
happens, greater business success is achievable because
employees are happier to be at work. If ethical leaders can
influence results, then they can equally influence workplace
culture.

 Take a decision ethically and ethical leaders must also lead
ethically in the way they treat people.
 Ethical leadership is both visible and invisible.The visible part is in
the way the leader works with and treats others.
 Ethical leaders are ethical all the time.

 Values
In order to develop good Ethical Leadership, the leader needs
to first go in search of his own core values.
 Vision
Here it is about the leader’s ability to implement his actions in
such a way that they lead to a certain goal (vision).
 Voice
The ethical leader must have a voice, in order to formulate the
vision for others and to make it clear in a way that motivates
them to act.
 Virtue
Ethical leaders are role models because of their virtuous
behaviour and will strive to do the right things and act
appropriately.
 Models ethical behaviour to the organisation and community:
A leader that has a reputation for ethical behaviour can provide a model
for other organisations and the community as well.
 Builds trust:
People will follow an ethical leader because they know they can trust him
to do the right thing.
 Brings credibility and respect, both for leader and organisation:
If the leader is ethical, individuals and groups within and outside the
organisation will respect him and the organisation.
 Leads to collaboration:
Other organisations will be much more willing to collaborate if they know
that they have to deal with an ethical leader.

 Don't separate ethics from day-to-day business.
 Don’t allow negative interpersonal behaviours to erode

 Don’t exempt anyone for meeting Ethical expectations.
 Celebrate positive Ethical moments.
 Talk about ethics as on ongoing learning journey, not a
