Prime Minister and presidents speak to their counterparts around the world. Many presidents and prime ministers won’t agree with each other on policy, but you need to respect each leaders position
There is pattern with Trudeau that is world does not view Trudeau as heavyweight, but a lightweight
Trudeau maybe a fan with citizens of various countries, but not leadership.
Trudeau has been called out many times for his nonsensical statements
Donald Trump's policies as President have created uncertainty for many Indian students and professionals. His executive orders restricted immigration from several Muslim-majority countries, increased immigration enforcement, and proposed changes to H-1B visas that would make it harder for skilled foreign workers, especially Indians who make up most H-1B visa holders. His policies have also been linked to a rise in racist attacks against Indians in the US. Indian leaders have expressed concerns about the effects on the Indian diaspora in America and bilateral relations.

The document summarizes how President Trump's policies may impact the GCC region. It discusses areas of potential impact including visa restrictions for some Muslim-majority countries, stronger relations with GCC at the expense of Iran if the Iran nuclear deal is renegotiated, uncertainty around continued US defense support, impacts to trade relationships and oil markets from Trump's "America First" policies, and reputational risks to companies from Trump's use of social media. While some policies may benefit the GCC, others could introduce new economic and political challenges for the region.
The GCC will not be spared, as the region’s governments try to make sense of an untested leader entering at a particularly turbulent time. Yet for all of Mr Trump’s controversy, GCC governments remain tepidly optimistic about his arrival.
The following briefing, put together by our experts in the region, outlines where that optimism comes from and the hidden challenges that the region may face.
Canada is ethnic diverse culture, but illegal border crossing is starting to impact the funding of social services

Canada is heading to a very dangerous slope when it comes to supporting the influx of refugees.
The UN agreement does not say Canada needs to accept all border jumpers.

Foreign policies – Liberals– Justin Trudeau – November 2017paul young cpa, cga
The document discusses and compares the foreign policies of the Liberal Party of Canada under Justin Trudeau and the previous Conservative government of Stephen Harper. It notes that Canada's global reputation remains high, at #1, similar to under Harper. While the Liberals have changed little overall, it critiques some of Trudeau's statements and actions, like praising Fidel Castro and increased spending on programs like refugees, which has cost over $385 million. The document provides sources analyzing several of Trudeau's foreign policy decisions and interactions with other world leaders.
This document discusses Canada's foreign policies under different prime ministers. It provides biographies of key foreign policy advisers and analyzes some of the stances and decisions on foreign relations made by Harper, Trudeau, and other world leaders. The document advocates that Canada has an important role to play in shaping global policies and addresses but should not push a one-world government approach. It also acknowledges threats from hostile actors that require prudent foreign policy responses.
This document discusses Canada's foreign policies under different prime ministers. It provides background on Paul Young and analyzes issues like Canada's relationships with other countries, Justin Trudeau's comments and actions regarding foreign affairs, and criticisms of Trudeau's foreign policy approaches. Key figures mentioned include Stephen Harper, Tony Abbott, Chrystia Freeland, and Fidel Castro.
2019 Election| Open, Honest and Transparent Government that is accountable to...paul young cpa, cga
The document discusses Justin Trudeau and the Liberal party's promises of open and transparent government. It provides an agenda with numerous examples where the Trudeau government has failed to deliver on this promise, including failures with access to information requests, changes to fiscal reporting, ethics violations by the Prime Minister and ministers, lack of transparency with SNC-Lavalin and the Mark Norman case, and misleading claims about policies like the carbon tax. The document argues that Trudeau has failed to establish the open and transparent government he campaigned on.
This document compares various economic and policy metrics between Canada and the US. It finds that while manufacturing employment has fallen in some US states, Canada's immigration system is under stress. The document also reviews environmental rankings, competitiveness, foreign direct investment, and foreign policies between the two countries. It argues that Justin Trudeau focuses more on globalist goals like UN agreements and carbon taxation, while Donald Trump prioritizes America. The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted countries to rethink foreign policies.
With such an unpredictable 2016 behind us where Brexit and the election of new US president Donald Trump sent shock waves through the world, the question is, what can we expect for 2017?
Business relies on government as part of setting policies that allow business to invest either domestically or internationally
Countries require FDI as part of supporting their economy as such geopolitics can drive risks to both government as well as business
This document outlines numerous ethical violations and controversies involving Liberal Party of Canada politicians since they formed government in 2015. It lists issues such as Prime Minister Trudeau, Finance Minister Morneau, and other ministers being found guilty of ethics violations. Other controversies mentioned include a land deal involving two MPs, a company receiving benefits due to family connections of a minister, and comments made by various MPs that were deemed insensitive or divisive. The summary at the end states that the Liberal government has not proven to be transparent as promised and that neither a Finance Minister nor Prime Minister have previously faced this level of ethics violations.
Fiscal Management| Justin Trudeau vs Stephen Harper| April 2019paul young cpa, cga
Trudeau has grown spending on average 5.2% or about 2.5 times GDP
Trudeau has committed $2.65B or more to the United Nationals
Canada was hit with GDP drop in 2016 due to wild fires in Alberta. Justin Trudeau two year average for GDP growth is 2.0% which is on par with the past 16+ years
Liberals ran election campaign on $10B deficits and now claim part of the $22B deficits are structural issues left by the CPC
Canada has a structural deficit as revenues continue to be challenge through slow growth. - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/canada-and-slow-growth-april-2019
Liberals cannot get goods to market despite seeing an uptick with commodity prices - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/important-of-exports-canada-global-trade
Part of the role of government is collect tax and the spend tax dollars on social programs. The liberals came to power after the CPC left $1B surplus. The Liberals turned the $1B deficit into $18B deficits. Liberals spending did nothing for the economy. You argue that bad policies by the liberals in areas like regulations, taxation, infrastructure, etc set growth back.
This document discusses globalism and the views of different countries and leaders on the topic. It begins with defining globalism as promoting interdependence and cooperation among countries. It then discusses the US and President Trump's stance against China's trade practices. Several countries want fair trade and equal market access. The document also discusses Justin Trudeau being more focused on UN interests over Canadian interests, and that Canada's immigration system is facing stress. It concludes with suggestions like the UN focusing on its core mandate, the WTO enforcing fair trade, and governments listening to their citizens.
President-elect Donald J. Trump will enter the White House having promised to radically alter United States foreign policy, with ramifications for Americans and the world.
But it’s not yet clear how. Mr. Trump offered vague and sometimes contradictory proposals during his campaign, with few of the typical details or white papers. Voters, foreign policy professionals and the country’s allies are all, to a real extent, left guessing.
Here, then, is a rundown of what we know about Mr. Trump’s foreign policy ideas and what some experts say about their feasibility and likely ramifications.
Liberal party of Canada - Justin Trudeau - Fiscal management and GDP - July...paul young cpa, cga
This document discusses Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's spending and deficit record compared to previous governments. It provides statistics showing that Trudeau has led one of the costliest governments since 1870 with the second highest per-person spending. It also notes that Trudeau has increased spending at an average of 5.2% per year, higher than previous Prime Ministers. While Trudeau campaigned on running modest deficits of $10 billion, the deficits have reached $22 billion which the Liberals blame partly on issues left by the previous Conservative government. Overall GDP growth under Trudeau has been around 2% on average, in line with the past 16 years.
This presentation looks at deficit and debt management by Trudeau and the Liberals. The liberals ran a campaign in 2015 on modest deficits. It is now 2018-2019 as such the deficit is now nearly 19B or about 3x times higher
Open, Transparent and Accountable Government under Justin Trudeaupaul young cpa, cga
This document provides an agenda for a presentation on whether the Liberal government has delivered on open, transparent and accountable government. It lists over 50 topics that will be discussed, including failures around access to information, ethics violations by Liberal ministers, the SNC-Lavalin scandal, deficits, foreign policy shortcomings and more. The presentation aims to show examples where the Liberals have not been fully open or transparent with information. It argues that Justin Trudeau has not lived up to his 2015 campaign promises of more open government.

Retail Sales and Consumer Spending Analysis and Commentary - July 2023.pptxpaul young cpa, cga
Canadian retail sales dropped 0.3% in August, the first decline since March, as higher interest rates start to impact household budgets. Seven of the nine retail subsectors saw sales increases in July, led by food and beverage retailers, while motor vehicle and parts dealers saw the largest decrease. Excluding autos, retail sales in July rose 1%, double expectations. The report suggests Canadians are tightening spending as more face higher mortgage payments and gas prices due to Bank of Canada rate hikes aimed at slowing inflation.
Addressing issues with the Public Sector Governance Model.pptxpaul young cpa, cga
The key challenges facing Australian business leaders in 2023 include:
1. Talent acquisition, retention and training staff for digital transformation.
2. Implementing successful digital transformation while managing cyber risks.
3. Adapting to changing regulations and reporting requirements.
Health risks from COVID-19, social reputation concerns, and disruptive emerging technologies are also significant social challenges impacting Australian businesses. Over the next 3-5 years, talent management for digitization, cybersecurity, digital transformation, regulatory changes, and identifying new growth opportunities will be the top challenges according to business leaders.
Global Housing Market Analysis and Commentary- September 2023.pptxpaul young cpa, cga
Summary:
Homebuilders are walking a fine line when it comes to new projects as high mortgage rates curb demand.
New residential construction, including single-family homes and multifamily, dropped 11.3% month over month in August to 1.283 million units on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to Census Bureau data released Tuesday. That's down 14.8% compared with a year ago and well below the 1.44 million units economists surveyed by Bloomberg projected.
But authorized residential permits — an indicator of potential future activity — rose 6.9% to 1.543 million permits in August from July. That was still down 2.7% from last August. Single-family permits, though, were up 2% from July to 949,000. Multifamily permits came in at 535,000.
The data reflects two opposing forces builders are trying to balance: the ongoing need for new construction to fill in limited inventory and elevated mortgage rates that are hurting their biggest customer right now, the first-time homebuyer.
"High mortgage rates are clearly taking a toll on builder confidence and consumer demand, as a growing number of buyers are electing to defer a home purchase until long-term rates move lower," Robert Dietz, chief economist of the National Association of Home Builders, said Monday in a press release after builder confidence dropped for the second straight month.

Blog – Manufacturing Shipments and Orders – The United States – August 2023
Summary:
New orders for manufacturing technology in the United States totaled $353.9 million in July 2023, as per the latest report by AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology. This figure marked a 12.4% decline from June 2023 but remained only 10.5% lower than July 2022. Year-to-date orders amounted to $2.83 billion, reflecting a 12.7% decrease compared to the same period the previous year.
Douglas K. Woods, President of AMT, noted that July is typically a slower month for manufacturing technology orders, so a slight drop was expected. However, he pointed out a notable trend: over the last two months, the year-to-date order gap has narrowed during historically slow periods. While job shops have seen decreased orders, other industries that benefited from reshoring or government investments have helped fill the gap.
Among specific sectors, job shops, the largest customer segment, placed their lowest total monthly orders since August 2020. In contrast, metal valve manufacturers recorded their third-highest monthly order value on record, last seen in September 2018, making up nearly 5% of the total manufacturing technology order value for July 2023. Manufacturers of motor vehicle transmissions continued to order machinery at an elevated pace. However, the aerospace industry continued to order below its early 2022 peaks, with hopes that recent projects like the federal government's $1.5 billion investment in communications satellites might reverse this trend.

Blog – Analysis and Commentary – Stock Market – WE September 15 2023
Summary:
Stocks fell Friday as investors wrap up a volatile week ahead of the Federal Reserve's policy meeting.
The Dow Jones Industrials tumbled 288.87 points to close out Friday and the week at 34,618.24. At its lows, it completely wiped out Thursday's 332-point rally.
The S&P 500 index sank 54.78 points, or 1.2%, to 4,450.32.
The NASDAQ index plunged 217.72 points, or 1.6%, to 13,708.33.
The Dow held onto a winning week. The S&P 500 and NASDAQ both closed out the week with losses.
Information technology was the worst-performing sector in the S&P 500, down nearly 2%. Adobe shares fell more than 4% even after the software firm posted better-than-expected quarterly results. Shares of Arm Holdings were lower one day after its successful public debut.
Auto stocks General Motors and Stellantis N.V. were higher Friday, while Ford Motor was about flat. Thousands of members of the United Auto Workers went on strike after failing to reach a deal with the automakers Thursday night.
Elsewhere, Lennar shares slid 3%. The home construction firm posted third-quarter results that beat on the top and bottom lines.
On the economic front, the University of Michigan's consumer sentiment survey showed one-year inflation expectations dropped to 3.1% in
September, tied for the lowest since January 2021. Also, the five-year outlook fell to 2.7%, matching its lowest since December 2020.
- Canadian manufacturing sales increased 1.6% in July, led by higher sales in food products, petroleum and coal products, and transportation equipment. Paper and plastics sales decreased the most.
- Inventory levels increased slightly while unfilled orders decreased, pointing to a potential slowdown.
- The manufacturing sector in Canada will continue to face challenges such as global economic uncertainty, rising costs, supply chain issues, climate change risks, and skills shortages.
Electricity Analysis - Canada and the OECD - June 2023.pptxpaul young cpa, cga
Summary:
Over three-quarters of the world’s total coal-generated electricity is consumed in just three countries. China is the top user of coal, making up 53.3% of global coal demand, followed by India at 13.6%, and the U.S. at 8.9%.
Burning coal—for electricity, as well as metallurgy and cement production—is the world’s single largest source of CO2 emissions. Nevertheless, its use in electricity generation has actually grown 91.2% since 1997, the year when the first global climate agreement was signed in Kyoto, Japan.
However, even as non-renewables enjoy their time in the sun, their days could be numbered.
In 2022, renewables, such as wind, solar, and geothermal, represented 14.4% of total electricity generation with an extraordinary annual growth rate of 14.7%, driven by big gains in solar and wind. Non-renewables, by contrast, only managed an anemic 0.4%.
The authors of the Statistical Review do not include hydroelectric in their renewable calculations, even though many others, including the International Energy Agency, consider it a “well-established renewable power technology.”
With hydroelectric moved into the renewable column, together they accounted for over 29.3% of all electricity generated in 2022, with an annual growth rate of 7.4%.

Retail Sales and Consumer Spending Analysis and Commentary - United States - ...paul young cpa, cga
United States retail sales rose 0.6% in August despite flat sales at internet retailers after Amazon Prime Day. Most of the increase was due to higher gasoline prices. While consumer spending has been strong, higher interest rates and a slowdown in hiring are expected to restrain purchases in the coming months. Forecasters predict the 2023 holiday shopping season could be the weakest in five years due to economic challenges facing consumers. The retail sector continues facing inventory management challenges and social governance issues.

Summary:
The global economy faces what at least one forecaster is calling a mild trade recession as shipments from China slump and German factories downshift.
China’s export declines extended into August, though there were signs that the worst of a world trade slowdown may be over for the leading exporter.
Overseas shipments from China fell 8.8% in dollar terms from a year earlier while imports contracted 7.3%, both better than economists’ estimates and significantly less severe than July’s downturn.
Other data have suggested trade may be stabilizing after weakening for most of this year. Exports from South Korea also declined at a more moderate pace in August than the previous month.

More work including spending on wildfire and forest fire mitigation
Canada and USA need to find a path forward to resolve the softwood lumber dispute
There needs to a better balanced between climate change policies and growing the economy in a sustainable way
3D printing for housing needs to become mainstream
More protection needs to happen with key ecosystems like wetlands, forest, and peatlands.

A toxic combination of 15 years of low growth, and four decades of high inequality, has left Britain poorer and falling behind its peers. Productivity growth is weak and public investment is low, while wages today are no higher than they were before the financial crisis. Britain needs a new economic strategy to lift itself out of stagnation.
Scotland is in many ways a microcosm of this challenge. It has become a hub for creative industries, is home to several world-class universities and a thriving community of businesses – strengths that need to be harness and leveraged. But it also has high levels of deprivation, with homelessness reaching a record high and nearly half a million people living in very deep poverty last year. Scotland won’t be truly thriving unless it finds ways to ensure that all its inhabitants benefit from growth and investment. This is the central challenge facing policy makers both in Holyrood and Westminster.
What should a new national economic strategy for Scotland include? What would the pursuit of stronger economic growth mean for local, national and UK-wide policy makers? How will economic change affect the jobs we do, the places we live and the businesses we work for? And what are the prospects for cities like Glasgow, and nations like Scotland, in rising to these challenges?
"Does Foreign Direct Investment Negatively Affect Preservation of Culture in the Global South? Case Studies in Thailand and Cambodia."
Do elements of globalization, such as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), negatively affect the ability of countries in the Global South to preserve their culture? This research aims to answer this question by employing a cross-sectional comparative case study analysis utilizing methods of difference. Thailand and Cambodia are compared as they are in the same region and have a similar culture. The metric of difference between Thailand and Cambodia is their ability to preserve their culture. This ability is operationalized by their respective attitudes towards FDI; Thailand imposes stringent regulations and limitations on FDI while Cambodia does not hesitate to accept most FDI and imposes fewer limitations. The evidence from this study suggests that FDI from globally influential countries with high gross domestic products (GDPs) (e.g. China, U.S.) challenges the ability of countries with lower GDPs (e.g. Cambodia) to protect their culture. Furthermore, the ability, or lack thereof, of the receiving countries to protect their culture is amplified by the existence and implementation of restrictive FDI policies imposed by their governments.
My study abroad in Bali, Indonesia, inspired this research topic as I noticed how globalization is changing the culture of its people. I learned their language and way of life which helped me understand the beauty and importance of cultural preservation. I believe we could all benefit from learning new perspectives as they could help us ideate solutions to contemporary issues and empathize with others.

OJP data from firms like Vicinity Jobs have emerged as a complement to traditional sources of labour demand data, such as the Job Vacancy and Wages Survey (JVWS). Ibrahim Abuallail, PhD Candidate, University of Ottawa, presented research relating to bias in OJPs and a proposed approach to effectively adjust OJP data to complement existing official data (such as from the JVWS) and improve the measurement of labour demand.
Vicinity Jobs’ data includes more than three million 2023 OJPs and thousands of skills. Most skills appear in less than 0.02% of job postings, so most postings rely on a small subset of commonly used terms, like teamwork.
Laura Adkins-Hackett, Economist, LMIC, and Sukriti Trehan, Data Scientist, LMIC, presented their research exploring trends in the skills listed in OJPs to develop a deeper understanding of in-demand skills. This research project uses pointwise mutual information and other methods to extract more information about common skills from the relationships between skills, occupations and regions.

OTTAWA – Canada is trying to patch up frayed relations with the Japanese government
after holding out on signing a major Pacific Rim trade deal championed by Prime Minister
Shinzo Abe.
Tensions flared between the two countries after Canada effectively blocked progress on
a deal to salvage the Trans Pacific Partnership, an 11-nation trade deal anchored by
Japan after U.S. President Donald Trump quit the pact. Canada continues to push for
revisions that leave the deal, created in part as a check on China’s economic clout, in
limbo — days before Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau heads to China himself.
Trade Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne said he discussed the issue with Japan’s
ambassador to Canada in a meeting in Ottawa on Tuesday. “We cleared a lot of the
issues and restated we are partners and friends in many things, and have made progress
toward trade in the Asia-Pacific region,” he said in an interview Wednesday. “And I think
this is understood now by both sides.” Japan Times – December 1, 2017

disappointing-trip-to-china
Unfortunately, many believe that the Trudeau government and pertinent Canadian trade negotiators,
simply failed to properly understand some of the attitudes and long-term goals underlying the policies
of the ruling authorities in Beijing, among them President Xi Jinping himself.
It’s thought one key factor in the failure of the talks was that Chinese authorities had no wish to
commit their government to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s much-publicized emphasis on non-trade
issues, including commitment to democracy, the rule of law and the advancement of women’s rights
and their greater participation in society.
Put succinctly, some regard the unexpected breakdown in the trade talks with China as greatly linked
to the Trudeau government’s failure to truly understand what was required to achieve an acceptable
trade deal with Beijing.
That same view also arose following the recent public criticism by former Prime Minister Stephen
Harper that Trudeau had adopted questionable and potentially harmful tactics during the current
renegotiating of the 1997 North American Free Trade Agreement between the United States, Canada
and Mexico.

Canada has become the latest county to use Australia as a guide on how to deal with rampant foreign influence after a
conservative senator said such laws were “essential for Canadian political sovereignty”.
Canadian opposition senator for Ontario Linda Frum has called for Australia’s new laws, which were introduced into
parliament last week, to be urgently reviewed by her country’s parliament.
“It’s essential for Canadian political sovereignty that we examine this very, very closely,” Senator Frum said last week.
“I think we need to look at it and I think we need to look at it urgently.”
She told Canadian radio that the Sam Dastyari case was a sign Australia had let the problem of foreign influence get
out of control.

• In 2014 is when Canada was ranked 24th in the world when it came to sustainability including the
environment. The Liberals took office in 2015 as such the ranking for Canada is now 25 when it comes
to sustainability. So, where are all these improvements to the environment? There are none! All the LPC
did was keep the same policies with one exception that is imposing a carbon tax on all provinces. Yet
carbon taxes have been a failure. Australia yanked the carbon tax as they were too punitive to the
economy and did nothing for global emissions - http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/australia-s-carbon-

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was given a guarded welcome to India as a way of showing "polite
displeasure" over his country's sympathies with Sikh nationalists, an expert has said.
Mr. Trudeau touched down at New Delhi airport over the weekend to be greeted only by a junior agricultural
minister. He is not due to meet Indian premier Narendra Modi until the sixth day of his week-long tour.
His trip to Taj Mahal was also a small-scale family affair – with most attention being paid to the PM sporting
Star Wars footwear in an apparent nod to Mr Modi's favourite film.
By contrast the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was warmly embraced by the Indian leader on the
tarmac moments after he stepped off the plane last month.
