This study validated a 5-item Fear of Recurrence (FOR) scale in 117 nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer patients. The FOR scale demonstrated good internal consistency and convergent validity, as FOR scores correlated with quality of life, disease-specific symptoms, psychological distress, and cancer-specific worry. FOR was not related to demographic factors like age, gender, or education. The study concluded that the FOR scale is a valid and reliable measure for assessing fear of recurrence in nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer patients, though further validation is needed in more ethnically diverse populations.
