This document analyzes cancer incidence and mortality in Australia for individuals under 75 years from 1987 to 2007, revealing a 28% decrease in cancer deaths and a 21% increase in new cancer diagnoses over the period. Specifically, significant reductions in mortality were noted for lung, bowel, breast, and stomach cancers, while prostate cancer saw the largest increase in incidence. The findings indicate progress in cancer control due to improved prevention strategies, treatments, and screening programs over the last two decades.
