FEEDING INDIA:
Feeding India is a youth run not for profit organization working to end Hunger and MalnutritionToday,
Feeding India works in more than 45 cities of India with 7,500+ volunteers and has served 8.5 million meals
to people in need.
Feeding India is a not-for-profit social enterprise which aims to connect two major social problems today:
Hunger and Food waste as solutions for each other. We tackle these by channelizing excess food from
individuals, weddings, restaurants, corporate offices to the people who really need it and have no means or
access food. Our belief is that we do not need to create new food to feed the less privileged, but to simply
direct the extra food which is already created. We also tackle the problem at its roots, where we encourage
people not to waste food at all.
Intro to social entrepreneur
PART 2 FEEDING INDIA:It all started when Ankit Kawatra, the founder of Feeding India attended a grand wedding where
there were 10,000 people invited and 35+ cuisines. He wondered what would happen to so much food and decided to stay
back. Ankit witnessed heaps of excess food being sent straight to the bin which could have fed 5000+ people just that night. At
22, he quit his well-paying job and a growing career at an MNC to do something which he felt is more important- making India a
hunger and food-waste free nation. Ankit is one of those people who wants to create a difference in the world.
They work to end hunger and malnutrition in India by providing food to vulnerable people.
A major portion of what they do is redistributing good extra food to people in need.
Feeding India works to preserve the childhood of the children and ensure that their health, education and social learning is not
compromised due to inadequacies related to food. These individuals are the future of our country and the maximum learning
that takes place during the early years should be capitalized.
They must collectively ensure that people with disabilities do not feel socially excluded, or categorized. If people should not be
discriminated on grounds of caste, religion, etc., they should also not be ill treated if they have disabilities.

Rise against hunger(intro)
Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most
vulnerable, mobilizing the necessary resources to end hunger by 2030.
Since their founding in 1998, Rise Against Hunger has grown exponentially — and the ways in which they seek to end hunger
continue to evolve. From the implementation of sustainable community development projects to their meal packaging program that
harnesses the passion of local volunteers, they strive to make a global impact on hunger by building resilience, self-sufficiency and
empowerment among the communities they work in and with.
Rise Against Hunger bolsters agricultural production and incomes through programs promoting improved agricultural methods,
business skills, and market access. With training and access to quality seeds and fertilizers, farmers can increase production and
harvest a variety of nutritious crops. By supporting the establishment of fish and livestock production, they also provide pathways to
diversifying diets and improving nutritional outcomes. For those who do not grow their own food, income is a key determinant in being
food secure — through income generating activities they help individuals increase their earning potential and thus their consistent
access to food.
Rise against hunger intro part 2
History and impact of their
venture(feeding india)
Ankit Kawatra started Feeding India in 2014, when he was 22. The not-for-profit social enterprise aims to solve the problems of
hunger and food wastage in India. Till date, Feeding India has served over 1.35 million meals to those who need it. In doing so, it has
saved over Rs 3.75 crore worth of food from going waste. The organisation’s working model is simple. Those willing to donate excess
food can reach out to Feeding India via its 24/7 helpline, mobile app, or email. The excess food is then collected from individuals,
weddings, or restaurants and served to those with no access to food.(THE IMPACTS)Feeding India provides nutritious meals 3 times
a day to children and monitor their increase in nutrition levels and overall health so the children can increase in nutrition level and
overall health. Children receiving balanced meals have increased attention span and energy levels which are directed towards better
studies and activities, a better future.Feeding India takes additional steps to donate food to needy people with disabilities. They
prioritize their feeding programs and also organize special training programs so the beneficiaries can contribute towards their own
living. They support the elderly who no longer have a source of income, by providing them meals rich in nutritional content which are
easily digestible and necessary.
History and impact of their venture(rise
against hunger
In 1998, envisioning a world without hunger, Ray Buchanan — a United Methodist minister — founded Stop Hunger Now. In 2017,
Stop Hunger Now rebranded to become Rise Against Hunger. After enlisting as a U.S. Marine during the Vietnam War, Ray
Buchanan quickly recognized that accomplishing a mission required “commitment to something larger than yourself.”
Driving Rise Against Hunger’s work is the recognition that ending hunger is more than just feeding people, which led Rise Against
Hunger to focus its feeding programs in areas where we can have a real impact and expand its hunger-fighting programs beyond
meal packaging and distribution.(impact)Everyone on the planet has the right to the nutrition necessary to live life to his or her full
potential. Since our founding in 1998, Rise Against Hunger has grown exponentially — and the ways in which we seek to end hunger
continue to evolve. From the implementation of sustainable community development projects to our meal packaging program that
harnesses the passion of local volunteers, they strive to make a global impact on hunger by building resilience, self-sufficiency and
empowerment among the communities They work in and with. Here are a few examples of how we are approaching this goal. While
long-term food security projects take root, vulnerable families and individuals still need to meet their basic needs today. Rise Against
Hunger supports safety net programs that provide nourishment as well as additional skills training or services that support the difficult
journey out of poverty. Their volunteer-packaged meals support children’s attendance at school, incentivize adults to learn a new
trade or bolster clinic patients’ health in order to bring about holistic and transformational development in each of their lives.
