What Is The Theme Of The Yellow Wallpaper
The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Gilman is told from the perspective of an obedient wife, who
is denied adequate treatment of her serious mental illness. An issue that Gilman knew from her
own nervous breakdown and ineffective treatment she was given. This story is considered her
greatest piece of fiction because of its horrifying depictions and its bleak outlook (Great American
Stories 81). After it was first published in 1892, many interpreted the story only as a horror tale,
but year s later critics have attached many themes and symbolism to the short story. In The Yellow
Wallpaper, Charlotte Gilman uses a descriptive first person point of view to not only immerse
readers into the deranged mind of her horrified character, but to also... Show more content on

While she never had hallucinations, Gilman did suffer from mental illness and depression for
three years when she underwent a rest cure prescribed by a neurologist. She reflected on many
of her personal experiences of isolation and paranoia to create a deranged yet believable
character. The terrifying character caused an outrage of one Boston physician, in an article in her
Magazine The Forerunner, Gilman remembered his reaction: Such a story ought not to be written,
he said: it was enough to drive anyone mad to read it (Great American Stories 81). While Gilman
did face her critics, she was proud to learn that her story had helped one woman. Gilman wrote
about how the woman s family realized that she needed normal activity to help her recover from
her nervous breakdown. It was not intended to drive people crazy, she remarked on her story, but
to save people from being driven crazy, and it worked (Great American Stories 81). The Yellow
Wallpaper has greatly impacted American literature and is regarded today as a true classic. Many
of the themes such as female oppression and poor treatment of the mentally ill are issues that are
common today. Gilman brought to life a character that became as deranged and insane as the
conventional society that she was apart

Corruption In The Bloody Chamber
Because The Bloody Chamber consists of a first person narrator it could suggest that the young
female is not trapped as she has an outlet and her own voice, A. R, Sheets explains she is not
trapped in a visual representation. Because she has a voice, she can be heard without seen (648).
Conversely, I believe this view can be challenged as the young narratoris often found to refer to
herself in the third person, therefore signifying that she does not have confidence in her
judgements, nor is she comfortable with herself, Aidan Day supports this idea as he suggests she
comments on the image of herself in the mirror as if she were an outsider (1998, 154), for example
the narrator states:
I saw him watching me in the gilded mirrors with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A counter gaze can be seen in both The Bloody Chamber and The Collector. In The Collector we
are often allowed insight into the character of Miranda through the use of her diary entries and
her conversations with Clegg for example You re very difficult to get. You re so featureless.
Everything s nondescript. I m thinking of you as an object, not as a person (62), Though
Miranda may not be looking at Clegg erotically it is clear that she objectifies him and that she
has the active role here as she looks upon him, Miranda here does not come across as passive nor
does she in many other instances in the novel. In Miranda s diary entry she proclaims I m so
superior to him. I know this sounds wickedly conceited. But I am. (139) this claim stands as an
argument against Berger s notion that she turns herself into an object as Miranda sees herself as
above Clegg. Kaplan further states that men wish to be taken over by an aggressive woman (5),
suggesting that some men, arguably Clegg would desire to have a passive role in the relationship
opposed to an active role, evidenced when Miranda states Go away. You exhaust me. You re like a
sea of cotton wool (he stood up at once) (145),

Accuracy of Bayley Scores as Outcome Measures in Trials of...
Introduction
Long term follow up of high risk preterm infants has become increasingly important as the
proportion of infants surviving has increased steadily over the past several decades. It is well
known that these infants are at increased risk of cognitive impairment. (Class) With this increase in
at risk survivors, many clinical research questions arise that can only be answered by long term
follow up studies. (Vohr, Teune) Clinical trials that examine common perinatal therapies should also
include a long term follow up component in their research to examine later neurodevelopmental
outcomes in their cohorts. Although there is no prescribed protocol dictating which specific
neurodevelopmental tests are to be completed during follow up, the Bayley Scales of Infant and
Toddler Development and all its revisions, is the most widely used test to assess neurodevelopment
of very preterm infants in the first three years of life (Luttikhuizen) and is a common outcome
measure used in clinical research trials.
Standardized developmental assessments such as the Bayley that are used in a pediatric clinical trial
setting as primary outcome measures need to be reliably administered and scored. Trained test
administrators and scorers are generally careful that the tests they are administering are conducted
and scored correctly. However, given the range of numerical calculations and transcriptions required
in scoring the results of these tests, there is always a chance that errors

The Disappearance Of Amelia Earhart
The Disappearance of Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart left quite an impression on the world. From being the first woman to fly across
the Atlantic to even setting a speed record of 181 miles per hour, Earhart was a figure to look up
to. When she disappeared, she was attempting to become the first person to fly around the world.
Her disappearance has always been a mystery and it will continue to be one for as long as we
live. However, new evidence has brought up the suggestion that maybe she crashed on a deserted
island and was stranded before she later on died. Some people don t believe this and they think
that she was secretly a spy for the U.S. and was captured and held hostage by Japanese soldiers.
Some people even think that she was on a suicide mission. Until researchers find evidence that
proves what really happened, her disappearance will always be a mystery. Amelia Earhartachieved
great things throughout her life. One of her famous quotes is Women must try to do things men
have tried. When they fail, their future must be a challenge to others. (Amelia Earhart) Even
when she failed, she proved that woman can be just as good as men. She accomplished so much
in the time she was here. She did things like becoming the first woman to fly a solo round trip
flight across the U.S. in 1928, and even set the woman s speed record of 181 miles per hour in
1930. She also become the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 1932 and continued

Corporal Shanek Case Summary
On Thursday, 29 March 2018, at approximately 1139 hours, Corporal Shanek was dispatched to
the Outpatient Center Ortho Clinic for a patient (later identified as Haley Eastin) threatening to
hurt herself and describing plans of suicide. At approximately 1149 hours, I heard Corporal
Shanek radio I need additional units in OPC now . I arrived at approximately 1150 hours. Upon
my arrival I observed a thin build white female walking out of the Ortho Clinic waiting area
being followed by a black female RN (Hill), a white female social worker and Corporal Shanek. I
asked Corporal Shanek What are we doing? as they approached. Corporal Shanek was on the
phone with Lt. Berthia as I doubled back and around the cafГ© to cut Eastin off at the main
entrance doors. No one came around so I proceeded forward and noticed Corporal Shanek standing
outside the Women s restroom. The staff members had proceeded into the restroom after Eastin and

At this time, I grabbed Eastin s left wrist with my left hand and placed my right hand in her back

Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption Essay
There is a staggering amount of corruption in the prison system that is caused by pressure on the
inmates as well as the employees in Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption by Stephen
King. The aforementioned corruption contributes greatly to many of the main plot points in the
story such as; the harassment of the prisoners, the smuggling of contraband items into Shawshank,
and the prisoners making their own lives easier by using the corruption for their own purposes.
Corruption is a main cause of the harassment and exploitation of the prisoners. This is exemplified
by the Inside out Program, initiated by Samuel Norton. It is described as being slave labour, which
has never been described as fair. Without the corruption in the... Show more content on

Also, after Andy is raped by the sisters, and Bogs Diamond is found beaten up in his cell, it is
mentioned that someone (probably Andy) paid off some corrupt guards to keep their heads
turned while Bogs was beaten. On this topic, Red says that: A guard could have been bribed real
easy to let someone maybe two or three someones into the block, and, yes, even into Diamond s
cell. (35) Even though Bogs would be known to everyone as something of an antagonist,
harassment is still evident, and it is obvious that the easily corruptible guards pressured by
bribes allowed him to be harassed. Therefore, it is evident that almost all of the prisoners at
Shawshank seem to have encountered some sort of harassment do to corruption in the system.
Red s whole reputation in Shawshank is only possible because of the corruption in the system.
He wouldn t be able to smuggle supplies into the prison without his network of corrupt officials
who are willing to help. These corrupt guards work in many different forms, some simply turning
a blind eye to Red s business, some even helping him and others even going so far as smuggling
things in themselves. On that note, it seemed like there were actually quite a few officials who
were in on the contraband trade, as Red mentions that By the late sixties there was a booming trade

Vincent Van Gogh Postimpressionism
During the late 19th century a new form of expression immerged known as the artistic movement of
postimpressionism. This movement was highly individual and expressive. Some of the most
creative painters in history helped to make the style a success including Gauguin, Cezanne,
Rousseau, but Vincent Van Gogh is considered by many the master of postimpressionist movement.
Vincent van Goghpursued various careers and vocations before becoming an artist. He was
influenced by his father, the Dutch Reformed minister, in becoming a clergy man .His mother
was a book seller and she influenced him. Van Gogh is also known for some of his writings.
During his lifetime he has produced almost nine hundred paintings and more than one thousand
works on paper. Unfortunately his art did not gain the popularity and fame it has nowadays till
after his death. Ironically in one of his quotes he critics his work as of very secondary
importance . He is well known for many of his masterpieces such as Irises, CafГ© Terrace at
Night, Wheatfield Crows and many others. The first to come to mind when thinking of van Gogh
s art would probably be The Starry Night. Van Gogh drew the famous masterpiece on the Rhone

The United States And The World War II
The United States, also known as the land of the free and the home of the brave. The United
States has been an icon for freedom and integrity for generations before us and is bound to have
written in various texts around the world. The United States has done its best to do the right
thing throughout the world. It believes itself to be the one to fix the issues that are happening in
the world around them as an act of kindness and justice. In the first World War, when Britain was
falling and the German troops were right on the horizon, American President at the time, chose to
involve us in a war that had originally not been our own. At the time of 1917, President Woodrow
Wilson admitted us into the campaign as a show that we would take a stand against the German
Empire. The country did the same at the year of 1941 in World War II, only after Japan had
initiated an attack on American soil. As seen from these two occurrences, America only then would
involve themselves in foreign affairs when it was necessary to do so and where they were involved
themselves. There is also the idea that America shouldn t be involved in foreign affairs as a whole,
due to its moral and economic effect upon the country. In the idea of the involvement causing
economic hassles to the country, those that think this usually lean towards the liberal standpoint of
the country. Those that are more patriotic tend to ignore the economic issues that come from United
Statesinvolvement in foreign affairs

пѓћ The BOP accounts record a country s payments to and its receipts from foreigners. пѓћ The
BOP accounts also show the sources of demand and supply of a country s currency in the foreign

п‚·
The BOP accounting uses the system of double entry bookkeeping: every international transaction
automatically enters the BOP accounts twice, once as a credit and once as a debit. It is because if
we buy something from a foreigner, we must pay him/her in some way, and the foreigner must then
spend or store our payment, and vice versa.

Dome Tents
There are many different types of camping tents, and the tent that you choose will depend heavily
on the type of camping that you will be doing. The tent that you choose for a family vacation will
likely differ from the tent that you would choose to take with you on a hiking trip. Before deciding
on a tent, you should first ask yourself what you will need from the tent that you choose. Will you
be constantly putting it up and taking it down on a hiking trip? If so, you should try to find a
campingtent that is easily set up, and easily taken down to save yourself some time. There are many

As per the name, these tents usually have a large frame that is held together by poles and ties
throughout. Early frame tents were known to be very heavy, but recent innovations have made
them quite light, and very easy to transport from one location to another. These tents are among the
hardest tents to set up, and you should always ensure that you have enough time int he day left to
put the tent up while there is still day light. These tents have a large amount of space inside of the
tent, and do not use up as much ground area as larger dome tents.
Ridge Tents
Ridge tents are generally used by one person, and are not ideal for families. These tents are
among the easiest to set up, and are often used by hikers and campers who will be moving
locations frequently during their hike. They are shaped like a wedge, with the larger end being
near the entrance, and the slimmer end near the back end of the tent. They can hold as many as
three people, but it is recommended that one to two people sleep in ridge tents.
The camping tent that you choose should depend heavily upon the type of camping that you plan
to do. Your tent is your home base and your shelter, so it is important that you choose a tent that is

Trail Of Tears Sparknotes
Most Americans have at least some vague understanding of the Trail of Tears, but not many
know about the events that led to that tragic removal of thousands of Indians from their
homeland. Indian lands were held hostage by the states and the federal government. The
Indians had to agree to removal to maintain their tribe identities. Trail of Tears is an excellent
example of a particular situation and will be eye opening to those who are not familiar with the
story of the southern tribes and their interactions with the rapidly growing American population.
The Trail of Tears has become the symbol in American history that indicates the callousness,
insensitivity, and cruelty of American government toward American Indians in 1839 and 1839.
The book The Trail of Tears: The Rise and fall of the Cherokee Nation, by John Ehle displays the
full history of a Native American democratic state, which is the Cherokee Nation. Like the
United States, it was born in bloodshed and war, but instead of continuing to last, it grew for only
a few years and then was destroyed by President Andrew Jackson and the government of the state
of Georgia. Ehle includes a great deal of primary sources, such as journals, military orders, letters,
etc., that serve to enrich the story. In Trail of Tears, John Ehle introduces the people and events that
led to the Trail of Tears, and the removal of the Cherokee Nation to Indian Territory. In the Indian
Territory the Indians were promised that whites

The Market And Economic Conditions For Buying And...
Introduction
Interested in near future business ideas, Cousin Edgar is considering buying two gasoline (gas)
stations. Gasoline is a fuel that, he believes, most American consumers will continue to use for the
foreseeable future and anticipates that the gasoline prices will continue moderately stable. The
business planning will evaluate the market and economic conditions for buying and operating the
two gas stations. The evaluation will be inclusive of Edgars expectation of his gas stations basic
economic conditions such as supply and demand, elasticity, costs of production, pricing, and normal
economic profit/loss. Cousin Edgar does believe that the opportunity for a healthy profit on the sale
of convenience items at each station could complement the gas stations business profits.
Determinants of Demand
There is a demand for the availability of gas stations that offer not only fuel retailing but also food
items for the consumers convenience. Edgar is aware that his retail gas station business could offer
complementary items to enhance the gas stations revenues. Preliminary review of this business idea
recognized that the national average of fuel prices has been declining since the end of 2014, http:/
/www.fuelgaugereport.com/.
The determinants for gasoline are transportation needs, income, and consumers lifestyles.
Transportation in most U.S. cities use gasoline fueled vehicles and few have alternatives in fueling.

Essay On Dynamite
Beginnings of Dynamite
The late 18th and the early 19th century saw the rise of the Industrial Revolution. The
transcontinental railroad across the USA was being built; in Australia and California, gold rushes
were driving people crazy trying to get rich; in Seuz, a great canal was being dug through the earth;
and in England, London s famous Underground Railroad system was being built. For these
engineering projects to be made possible for all the blasting, tunneling, trenching, mining, and
excavation to be made possible we needed explosives.
At the beginning of the industrial revolution there were two main explosives used: black powder
and nitroglycerine. Black powder had been used as early as the 1600s for construction and mining.

It revolutionized the processes of constructing, demolishing, and mining. As innovations involving
the use of dynamite increased, a wide range of versatility provided a new wave of development.
With the use of dynamite, rocky, uneven surfaces could be cleared to create level platforms to
build on. Dynamite provided man with an awesome power the ability to dramatically change the
face of the earth. (Modern marvels Dynamite). We now could blast through rock at a rate unheard
of with the low power of black powder. Some of dynamite s first uses were creating trenches for
irrigation systems, blasting rock in mines and quarries, and removing trees and stumps. This
adoption of dynamite started to lead to larger, more ambitious project eventually working its way
into almost every aspect of the industrial revolution. It unleashed the power that enabled the
monumental industrial development of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including hydro
power, skyscrapers, and coal and oil exploration. Canals and railroads, mining and construction,
tunnels and harbors were all now economically and physically possible. Even concrete could
become a common construction material once limestone could be blasted from quarries. Dynamite
liberated laborers from the tiresome slaving in mines and quarries or moving and leveling earth.
What once took weeks could now be done in

Exotic Pet Ownership
Humans should be allowed to do anything that they re capable of doing. Therefore, if humans can
tame/control an exotic animal to satisfy our own needs humans should be able to. It s believed that
the ownership of exotic pets should either be banned, or it should have increased license
requirements to own an exotic pet. The main things that should be considered are: what it restricts,
why not to place restrictions, why restrictions are considered. Getting a license is a precaution
placed in order to ensure that the owner is acceptable to take care of an exotic animal. Someone
looking to own an exotic pet should require a license no matter the state. States should also not ban
the ownership of these exotic petsfor that s restrictive on human aspirations. Restricting human
choice shouldn t be acceptable unless a human s choice(s) reduces another s capabilities. Humans
are at a point where nothing is above our species, therefore, if the capabilities of these exotic
animals aren t enough to keep them from us, then humans do whatever they like. Currently, the

A Long Day At Work And Now
You ve had a long day at work and now you have to go grocery shopping. You fight through rush
hour and you finally get to the supermarket, only to turn around and spend two hours cooking
dinner and then cleaning up the mess. However, before you can get to all that fun stuff, you
have to wander around the store with all of the other people in your boat, get your food, and get
home. It s a long process, figuring out what brand you want, what s the better deal, and what you
will need throughout the week. As you approach the produce section, you see something odd. It
looks like an apple, but what is it called? A Grapple? What is that? You decide that it s worth

learn how to isolate and take specific genes from one plant in order to combine with others. 1982
was an important year because it was when the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved
the first GMO, a diabetes medicine called Humulin. This was a big step for GMOs, as it gave
the go ahead to pharmaceutical companies that may have been hesitant to get involved with
GMOs. Also the 1980s was full of tests to see if GMO food crops were actually safe to consume,
which brings us to the 1990s. In 1992 the FDA determined that they have no basis to conclude that
bioengineered foods are any different from foods developed from traditional plant breeding. In 1994
the first GMO food the Flavr Savr tomato which was genetically altered to have a longer shelf life
was approved. The demand for the fruit was high, but due to high production costs the tomato never
made much profit. Also in 1994, Monsanto, a multinational agricultural biotechnology company,
introduced a genetically modified bovine growth hormone that could be injected into cows to
increase milk production. Two years later in 1996, Monsanto introduced Roundup Ready Soybeans,

on No Greater Love contained the main facts, the everyday life of today s society. Danielle Steel
as the author of the novel put herself at the center of the story, thus guaranteed the work s being so
real, the work mirrors the real world.
Speaking of this work we tried to put our opinion of the hard life writing this dissertation work.
Generally, the thesis contained No Greater Love , its author, major problems, plot, analyzing of
characters and mysteries concerning Titanic. It s obvious that the work is historical fiction, this is
Steel s one of her two novels about Titanic where life becomes heavy burden for heroines caused
by Titanic disaster. As it was mentioned No Greater Love is a historical fiction and we proved it
in the dissertation work, as the part of history is depicted there. Also we got Danielle Steel s letters
concerning this theme, where we again are sure that this novel is the genre of above mentioned.
Historical fiction is always popular in every period of time. The genre itself is very attracting, the

The push ups are undoubtedly the poor exercise of chest exercises, and I think the resistance with

her urge to drop out of high school, the conflict she has with her mother, and her compromised

2.1 Art Index and Methodology The case for investment into art and the development of art indices
has been at the forefront of the evolution of investing into alternative assets. Databases, indices, and
market reports are now essential analytical tools with which art investors can assess financial
performance. Over the past few decades, researchers have used different methodologies to calculate
the financial returns on art investments, based on public auction records.
2.1.1 General Review There are four main methodologies for producing art price indices. Average
prices, geometric means, repeat sales and hedonic regressions. The first significant study was by
Stein (1977), who analyzes the financial return of auctioned paintings in USA and Britain for the
period of 1946 68 by using the average prices methods. Stein considered the auctioned objects each
year as a random sample of the underlying stock of art and constructs an index based on the yearly
average transaction price. Baumol (1986) and Frey and Pommerehne (1989) calculate the geometric
mean return on works that sold at least twice during the considered time frame. Baumol constructs a
data set of transaction prices of the best known art works from 1652 to 1961 in London by using
geometric mean method. Revisiting Baumol s study, Frey and Pommerehne enlarge the data set by
extending the time period to 1987 and including auction sales from European countries. However,
these two methods do not enable the construction

Unlike uranium, thorium is much safer, energy efficient, and abundant (Halper). Thorium has little
to no risk of a nuclear meltdown because thorium needs to be paired with plutonium in order to
produce electricity, unlike uranium which simply needs itself. If a meltdown were to happen
engineers would simply separate the thorium from the plutonium to avoid any sort of disaster. More
importantly, one ton of thorium can produce the same amount of energy as 3 tons of uranium and
3,500,000 tons of coal (Halper). It is much more viable to have a thorium reactor in a city rather
than a traditional coal fired plant due to this reason. Thorium can power a city much more
efficiently than coal because it can do so much more with so much less. The energy lost in
transmission will not be much of a problem in urban areas because of the population density in
cities. A thorium power plant will service 5,000 people per square mile for example, in an urban
area rather than 1,000 people per square mile in a suburban area. Since more energy is used much
less energy can be lost in

Erik Larson s The Devil

occurred during the final years of the Gilded Age. Larson employs his vast research in order to
write a historically accurate book, while filling in the subjective details all in order to make for an
interesting read for the audience. Although the novel is based on historical facts, the actual goal
for Larson is to portray a sharp contrast between good and evil, and he does this by presenting two

They are both dedicated to building a fair that will better the tarnished reputation the Chicago
gives off to the rest of the country. They seek the help of architects throughout the country, but
the ones in New York in particular are full of pride and do not want to be associated with
Chicago. John Root eventually falls ill and dies, him being the architectural genius of the
project. Burnham reads a newspaper that says that he will not be able to build such a fair on his
own, and so pushes even harder to build a truly memorable fair. Chicago is at first described as a
cheery place full of patriotism for their own city and this pride is what essentially produces good
for the city. While pride may seem to produce good for the city, it actually causes the people to
ignore the bad. This is evident with the story of H. H. Holmes. He is able to get away with so
much in Chicago and pretty much runs a murder factory in the World Fair Hotel. No one cares
enough to investigate it because Chicago is simply known as the city where one would marvel at
how easy it was to disappear (Larson, 11). This disappearance refers to murderers and psychopaths
like H. H. Holmes, but could also be a reference to the countless victims that were murdered by him
and never found. Another example of preventable evil being ignored is that of Prendergast, who
becomes progressively insane but the few people that notice it do nothing about it and

Schlieffen Pl War Against Russia And France
The Schlieffen Plan was Germany s plan for war against Russia and France. The purpose of this
plan was to help Germany survive the earliest part of World War I by knocking France out in the
West before turning their focus to Russia whom was East of them. The ultimate goal and way of
accomplishment was to quickly defeat the French before Russia could mobilize its forces to join
the fight. This plan was requested by Kaiser (German emperor) Wilhelm II, created by the chief of
staff Alfred von Schlieffen in 1903, and revised in 1905. Due to the Franco Prussian alliance
Germany could not attack just one country but rather be forced to fight both in a two front war.

The German commanders decided to not attack from France s rear but rather from the Franco
German border, which was probably one of their biggest mistakes because the French were lined
and heavily protecting themselves and their line. This plan was flipped due to Germany s
inability to predict what was happening in other countries. These miscalculations over the role
of Belgian resistance, speed of Russia moving in Eastern Prussian territory and Britain s
immediate entry into the land war at the Battle of Mons led to Germany s military plans being
weakened. After a few weeks of battle, it was clear this plan had failed. The plan itself effected
the war but in a way, it also had nothing to do with the outcome of the war. If the plan had worked
the way it was originally planned, that would have meant no other countries made a move to
protect themselves or fight back. Since the plan did not go as it was supposed to, it was clear
Germany was behind in what was happening in other countries, were under prepared, and had no
way of predicting exactly what would happen when they did

The, The Party For God Essay
Hezbollah
To some Hezbollah, the Party for God , is a political group fighting for nationalism and to others,
particularly western cultures; Hezbollah is a very dangerous terrorist organization. Hezbollah is a
Shiite Muslim group based in Iran and Southern Lebanon. They have an extensive network that
crosses international borders and consists of everything from schools and hospitals to a television

Hezbollah was formed following the 1979 Iranian Revolution. In the early 80s, there were a
number of rebels and terrorist groups in the region who were carrying out attacks under various
names within the umbrella of the newly formed Hezbollah (White, 2014). According to Jonathan
White in Terrorismand Homeland Security, Hezbollah acted more or less like a terrorist
clearinghouse. It wasn t until 1985 that the leaders of Hezbollah brought all of the groups together
under a united front. They felt that this would strengthen their cause and further their effect.
During the early days of Hezbollah the Iranian Revolutionary Guard provided much of its support
(Laub and Masters, 2014). Hezbollah has essentially been doing Iran s dirty work in their fight
against Israel. Both Iran and Hezbollah want the annihilation of Israel and won t stop until it is

Does Creatine Supplementation Really Enhance Athletic Performance?
The Purpose of Creatine
In our competitive society, being the best is of utmost importance. Athletic performance is no
exception, and athletes are constantly striving to find new ways to train which will help them to
become the best. Many supplements promising results have come and gone, but creatine may
actually be able to deliver improved athletic performance. Many athletes are currently
supplementing their diets with creatine to increase their strength, muscle mass, and weight by
providing their bodies with more available energy, thus reaching new heights in athletic
performance.

Improving Energy Production ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Usually relying on ATP production for energy is alright except for two problems. The first is that
ATP is produced at a slow rate, too slow to supply the energy needed to run a 200 meter sprint, for
example. The second problem is that ATP production takes a while to get started. As one goes from
rest at the starting line of a race to running at race speed, for example, the traditional method of ATP
production does not begin working at full capacity until a couple of minuets have passed. Another
source of energy is therefore needed to get one through the early moments of a race or workout.
Creatine phosphate serves as this other source of energy. CP donates its phosphate to ADP, thus
creating the ATP needed to make muscles work. It has been hypothesized that by increasing the
amount of free Creatine in the diet one could increase the amount of creatine phosphate in skeletal
muscles which would then provide better availability of high energy phosphate for energy
production during muscle contraction. If one were to start running at top speed from a standing
start, creatine phosphate would supply almost all of the necessary energy during the first six
seconds of the run. Http://www.creatine.html#source)
Buffers Lactic Acid Buildup
Creatine phosphate also acts as a buffer which helps to combat jumps in muscle acidity during
intense exercise.

The use of assistive technologies inside the classroom is dependent upon many factors. From what
support is provided by the school and other agencies, to the standards and regulations that schools

Every child has a right to an education and equal opportunity. Special needs schools are becoming a
thing of the past and students are being integrated into mainstream schools. In 1994 ninety two
governments and twenty five international organisations gathered with the belief that all students,
including those with special education needs, are entitled to an education delivered by mainstream
schools (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, 1994). These like

large glass case, where only its beauty was allowed. Every morning after Plutobrought Proserpina
to his castle, he would hear her wake up in the early hours of the day, right when the sun began to
rise, and watch her pick flowers through his large window overlooking his land. He was lucky that
she did not know who he was, the God of the Underworld, she only thought he was the king of
diamonds and stones. Plutohad a plan, once he got her to eat something, she would be trapped in
his kingdom forever, his underworld. For now, however, he had to just watch as she deteriorated
from hunger. It wasn t that bad to be brutally honest, he s seen much worse. Since staying there,
Proserpina had vowed not to eat anything that she found, or anything that was given to her. She
was afraid that if she ate anything, it would deprive her of all of her bad memories and make her
forget all of her cares. Really,

The Number Of Obese People
The number of obese people in America is growing at a rate of two in every three people being
overweight or obese. Over 68% of American adults are considered overweight or obese. What
exactly is causing this tragically large result? Studies have shown that nutrition, overeating and
lack of exercise are few factors contributing to this. People need to start caring about their health
before it s too late. Embarrassingly, America s love for fattening food isn t a secret. A French
traveler said There is food hypocrisy. Someone will go into a restaurant and not eat the yellow of
the eggs because they think it s unhealthy, but then drink a huge soda . Society is labeled by the
food we eat due to the amount of grease and sugar it contains. Soda is one of the main causes for
the large amount of sugar in American s diets. An industry report has shown that 8.9 billion
cases of soda were sold last year. The food American s eat is terrible but the amount is even
worse. Portioning is extremely important to avoid extra calories that won t be worked off. Using
the serving size listed will manage how much you re consuming. Overeating can double the
amount of calories you re eating compared to what your normal intake should be. Obesity is a high
concern with people that over eat. Everyone has heard the saying You are what you eat , but the
meaning might stand for more than what people comprehend. Your body thrives off of certain
vitamin rich foods to receive its nutrients. If it does not

Paralysis in Dubliners Essay
In his letters, Joyce himself has said that Dubliners was meant to betray the soul of that
hemiplegia or paralysis which many consider a city (55). The paralysis he was talking about is
the paralysis of action. The characters in Dubliners exemplify paralysis of action in their inability
to escape their lives. In another of Joyce s writings, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young
Man, Joyce writes of Ireland: When the soul of a man is born in this country there are nets flung
at it to hold it back from flight. You talk to me of nationality, language, religion. I shall try to fly by
those nets (Joyce 238). The characters of Dubliners face similar nets that prevent them from
escaping their lives. Unfortunately, their attempts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is in this way that his fear of failure keeps him paralyzed in his unhappy life. An additional
example of paralysis through indetermination comes in A Painful Case. In the story, Mr. Duffy
pursues a relationship with a woman he met at an event. For a time, this allows him to break
from his monotonous life. The problem is, the woman is married, and when the possibility of
love comes in the picture, out of fear Mr. Duffy decides to break off the relationship. This returns
not only himself, but the woman as well to the previous condition of paralysis and unchanging
dullness of life. Another common cause for paralysis would be bonds that tie the characters to
the city and their dull lives, preventing them from escaping. Nowhere it seems is this more
evident than in Eveline, where the main character attempts to break free of her life and escape
across the sea with a sailor named Frank. Yet at the end of the story, as she is about to leave, she
changes her mind and does not board the ship with Frank. She clings to the pier railing like a
helpless animal as she watches him leave (Joyce 32). This action was caused partly by fear or
rather anxiety from facing a completely new and different life, but much more influential was the
bond that Eveline had to her family. Her promise made to her dying mother to keep the home
together as long as she could heavily weighs on her decision to stay (Joyce 30).

The Motivation Of Helen Keller
Helen Keller was one of the most inspirational person that everyone can look up to. In fact, she
has had a tremendous success in her lifetime when she was blind and deaf. However, she didn t
do it alone. She had some help from her close friend, Anne Sullivan Macy. As of today, her story
has captivated millions of people when Helen was alive and when she died, and the motivation,
preparation, and accomplishments that Helen did would indeed inspire generations of kids and
adults, blind, deaf, both, or neither, especially Philip Terzian, who was a journalist. Those three
things are all the reason Helen Kelleris a significant figure during the Progressive Era.

Preparation
There are things that Helen needed to prepare in order for her to become as successful as she was

School ( Helen Adams Keller 1988). Before attending at Cambridge, she has studied 2 yrs with a
private tutor ( Helen Adams Keller 1988). Then at Radcliffe, she attended with her mentor, Anne,
were Anne has guided Helen even though Anne has poor eyesight, and she
spelled the things the instructor said to Helen s hand (Anne Sullivan Macy). This goes to show that
even though Helen was able to do things with her hand, she still has a long ways to go and a lot of
things to learn from Anne.
Accomplishments
Throughout her career and her life, Helen has accomplished a lot of things that made her iconic and
an inspiration to everyone. For instance, in 1904 at Radcliffe, she graduated there
with a B.A. cum laude ( Helen Adams Keller 1988). However, before that happened, Helen

Essay on Suffering from Sleep Disorder
He who learns must suffer. And even in our sleep pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon
the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of
God . Said by: Aeschylus. To me this simply mean don t do something which you are not
comfortable with. When you do something bad it might not affect you at the beginning but it will
affect you later in your life. For example in the play Shakespeare Macbethhad Banquo murder so
he could become king and he didn t think anything will happen to him cause he had three witches
who told him everything will be okay and he will be king. However that didn t happen after

An Overview Of Lord Keeper Bacon At The Opening Of...
Primary Source Analysis An Overview By Lord Keeper Bacon at the Opening of Parliament, 12
January 1563 In 1563 Lord Keeper Bacon, a member of parliament, wrote a letter to Queen
Elizabeth I, which was presented to parliament on January 12, 1563, requesting the issues with the
church teaching be resolved. The letter argued that in order for Lord Keeper Bacon, as well as his
lord bishops, to truly understand the religion, Queen Elizabeth I must reform the issues regarding
the teachings of doctrine and discipline. This document is a speech on the matter of religious
settlements in the early Elizabethan era. It calls for clarifications of the teachings of doctrine and
discipline, which were necessary to sustain religion. Regarding the teachings of doctrine, the issues
presented in this speech pertain to ministers who were either accustomed to teaching with the
beliefs of Catholicism or who do not teach the true word of God. In addition, the issues regarding
discipline are that the ministers and members of the church may have become corrupt with no true
disciplinary consequences set forth as punishment. This document is written in a time where the
religion had been changed numerous times, leaving the people, including the author, Lord Keeper
Bacon, confused. Although somewhat unsure as to what the exact guidelines for the religious
settlement would be, Lord Keeper Bacon was not kept in the dark. Originally known as Nicholas
Bacon, who would be appointed Lord Keeper by

The Chemistry Of Diffusion Of Osmosis
Diffusion is the random movement of particles, caused by kinetic energy, from an area of higher
concentration to an area of lower concentration. Once the two substances are in equilibrium,
diffusion still occurs. However, the substances stay in equilibrium, as the random movement is
equal across both sides. Osmosisis the diffusion of water, through a selectively permeable
membrane. A selectively permeable membrane is a membrane that allows certain molecules to
pass through itself, and is resistant to other molecules. Osmosis is a very important process by
cells, with uses such as the absorption of water. Many cells are placed in solutions with a similar
solute solvent ratio, to prevent rapid intake or expulsion of water. Osmosis causes a change in
turgor pressure, and in osmotic pressure. Tugor pressure is the pressure exerted on the cytoplasm on
the cellcaused by the intake or expulsion of water. Osmotic pressure is the pressure of the water
If the turgor pressure in a cell is too great, than the cell may explode. If the turgor pressure inside
the cell is too low, the cell will shrivel. Potatoes are vegetables that are grown under the surface of

Examples Of American Civilizations
In the article Huntington describes civilizations as a cultural entity comprised of many different
nationalities, ethnic groups religious groups and regions. We could use and example as those that
live on the east coast of the United States differ from those on the west coast. Here we could talk
about the difference between their politics their lifestyles and maybe their economies regional and
state. However, both may be different in some form most will identify as American, which will
distinguish them from Mexico or Canada. This makes civilizations. A civilizationis thus the highest
cultural group of people and the broadest level of cultural identity people have short of that which
distinguishes humans from other species. It s defined

Computer Science Career Research Paper
I have chosen to pursue a career in computer science, because it has been a heavy influence on
me throughout my life. All my life I have been surrounded by technology, almost more than half
of my family has a career in the IT field, which is what sparked my interest. My earliest memory
of when I first became interested was when I was about 6 and my mother bought me a phonics
dog, and I was more interested in how it worked rather than what it did. I then saw the screw
bolts and knew if I used a screwdriver I could see the inside of the toy so I opened it, and from
then on I knew I was interested in technology. In middle school was when I first took my actual
dive into the IT world and I learned there are different computerlanguages, and about different
devices used in the tech world. Also I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

starting to integrate technology into almost every and anything. That s also a concept I was taught
in Cisco it s actually called the Internet of Things, which is basically just network devices that can
communicate without human help. In the next 20 years according to the Internet of Things almost
everything will have technology inside of it making it like a network device, like shirts, cars, lights

Hydranths Feeding Habits
During the lab on Tuesday this week, we learned how to feed Cordylophora. We also observed
the feeding habits of the Cordylophora carefully. While observing the feeding, I focused on one
particular hydranth with 18 tentacles that captured and ingested 8 Artemia. Meanwhile, a
hydranth of similar size with 15 tentacles caught no brine shrimp, even though many passed by it
within reach. This lead to the question of why some hydranths feed while others do not. I would
like to determine if there is a specific reason as to why some hydranths fed and others did not.
Does the relative size of the hydranths cause different feeding habits? Do hydranths rotate which
ones feed in a logical manner or is it entirely random? The specific materials I need

The Benefits Of New Media And Technology
What is the self in the digital age? One might say that their true online self is on Facebook, or
MySpace, or maybe Instagram. The splintering of the self into multiple versions illustrates a desire
to see what one can be online. Truly, new media and technology has allowed one to find their true
inner self, whether that reflect their real self in real life or not. Yet, not everyone sees these
disparate selves with optimism. Sherry Turkle and Natasha SchГјll see the growth of new mediaand
technology as detrimental to the formation of our true selves and both critically analyze specific
cases where it can be harmful. I, however, disagree with the sentiment that new media and
technology is something inherently harmful. Although they can certainly be misused, the benefits
of these digital innovations can, when applied with critical understanding, outweigh the negatives
brought up by Turkle and SchГјll. First, Turkle argues that social media is preventing adolescents
from dedicating time to self reflection and replacing face to face communication with online
communication. Turkle states in her book, Alone Together, that teens need time to discover
themselves, time to think. But technology, put in the service of always on communication and
telegraphic speed and brevity, has changed the rules of engagement with all of this. Here, Turkle
state that since social media is easily accessible and immediate, teenagers will be compelled to
interact online, instead of taking the

Internal Controls And Internal Control System
b)The definition offered by the Charity Commission (CC), states that IC Internal financial controls
are essential checks and procedures that help charity trustees to: i)meet their legal duties to
safeguard the charity s assets, ii) administer the charity s finances and assets in a way that identifies
and manages risk, and iii) ensure the quality of financial reporting, by keeping adequate accounting
records and preparing timely and relevant financial information. The above definitions are relevant
and in accordance to the objectives of IC systems, highlighted by Kaplan, (2012); which states that:
Internal control embodies the following: Controls attempt to ensure that risk, those factors which
stop the achievement of company objectives, are minimised. An internal control system comprises
the whole network of systems established in an organisation to provide reasonable assurance that
organisational objectives will be achieved. Internal management control refers to the procedures
and policies in place to ensure that company objectives are achieved. The control procedures and
policies provide the detailed controls implemented within the company. 2.3.0 What requirements are
there for Internal Control (IC) and Audit? The numerous financial scandals have highlighted
considerable п¬Ѓduciary responsibilities of charitable organisation managers, including the
relatively weak regulatory oversight of the not for profit sector. This claim reflects the list of

  • 2. What Is The Theme Of The Yellow Wallpaper The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Gilman is told from the perspective of an obedient wife, who is denied adequate treatment of her serious mental illness. An issue that Gilman knew from her own nervous breakdown and ineffective treatment she was given. This story is considered her greatest piece of fiction because of its horrifying depictions and its bleak outlook (Great American Stories 81). After it was first published in 1892, many interpreted the story only as a horror tale, but year s later critics have attached many themes and symbolism to the short story. In The Yellow Wallpaper, Charlotte Gilman uses a descriptive first person point of view to not only immerse readers into the deranged mind of her horrified character, but to also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While she never had hallucinations, Gilman did suffer from mental illness and depression for three years when she underwent a rest cure prescribed by a neurologist. She reflected on many of her personal experiences of isolation and paranoia to create a deranged yet believable character. The terrifying character caused an outrage of one Boston physician, in an article in her Magazine The Forerunner, Gilman remembered his reaction: Such a story ought not to be written, he said: it was enough to drive anyone mad to read it (Great American Stories 81). While Gilman did face her critics, she was proud to learn that her story had helped one woman. Gilman wrote about how the woman s family realized that she needed normal activity to help her recover from her nervous breakdown. It was not intended to drive people crazy, she remarked on her story, but to save people from being driven crazy, and it worked (Great American Stories 81). The Yellow Wallpaper has greatly impacted American literature and is regarded today as a true classic. Many of the themes such as female oppression and poor treatment of the mentally ill are issues that are common today. Gilman brought to life a character that became as deranged and insane as the conventional society that she was apart ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Corruption In The Bloody Chamber Because The Bloody Chamber consists of a first person narrator it could suggest that the young female is not trapped as she has an outlet and her own voice, A. R, Sheets explains she is not trapped in a visual representation. Because she has a voice, she can be heard without seen (648). Conversely, I believe this view can be challenged as the young narratoris often found to refer to herself in the third person, therefore signifying that she does not have confidence in her judgements, nor is she comfortable with herself, Aidan Day supports this idea as he suggests she comments on the image of herself in the mirror as if she were an outsider (1998, 154), for example the narrator states: I saw him watching me in the gilded mirrors with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A counter gaze can be seen in both The Bloody Chamber and The Collector. In The Collector we are often allowed insight into the character of Miranda through the use of her diary entries and her conversations with Clegg for example You re very difficult to get. You re so featureless. Everything s nondescript. I m thinking of you as an object, not as a person (62), Though Miranda may not be looking at Clegg erotically it is clear that she objectifies him and that she has the active role here as she looks upon him, Miranda here does not come across as passive nor does she in many other instances in the novel. In Miranda s diary entry she proclaims I m so superior to him. I know this sounds wickedly conceited. But I am. (139) this claim stands as an argument against Berger s notion that she turns herself into an object as Miranda sees herself as above Clegg. Kaplan further states that men wish to be taken over by an aggressive woman (5), suggesting that some men, arguably Clegg would desire to have a passive role in the relationship opposed to an active role, evidenced when Miranda states Go away. • 4. Accuracy of Bayley Scores as Outcome Measures in Trials of... Introduction Long term follow up of high risk preterm infants has become increasingly important as the proportion of infants surviving has increased steadily over the past several decades. It is well known that these infants are at increased risk of cognitive impairment. (Class) With this increase in at risk survivors, many clinical research questions arise that can only be answered by long term follow up studies. (Vohr, Teune) Clinical trials that examine common perinatal therapies should also include a long term follow up component in their research to examine later neurodevelopmental outcomes in their cohorts. Although there is no prescribed protocol dictating which specific neurodevelopmental tests are to be completed during follow up, the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development and all its revisions, is the most widely used test to assess neurodevelopment of very preterm infants in the first three years of life (Luttikhuizen) and is a common outcome measure used in clinical research trials. Standardized developmental assessments such as the Bayley that are used in a pediatric clinical trial setting as primary outcome measures need to be reliably administered and scored. Trained test administrators and scorers are generally careful that the tests they are administering are conducted and scored correctly. However, given the range of numerical calculations and transcriptions required in scoring the results of these tests, there is always a chance that errors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Disappearance Of Amelia Earhart The Disappearance of Amelia Earhart Amelia Earhart left quite an impression on the world. From being the first woman to fly across the Atlantic to even setting a speed record of 181 miles per hour, Earhart was a figure to look up to. When she disappeared, she was attempting to become the first person to fly around the world. Her disappearance has always been a mystery and it will continue to be one for as long as we live. However, new evidence has brought up the suggestion that maybe she crashed on a deserted island and was stranded before she later on died. Some people don t believe this and they think that she was secretly a spy for the U.S. and was captured and held hostage by Japanese soldiers. Some people even think that she was on a suicide mission. Until researchers find evidence that proves what really happened, her disappearance will always be a mystery. Amelia Earhartachieved great things throughout her life. One of her famous quotes is Women must try to do things men have tried. When they fail, their future must be a challenge to others. (Amelia Earhart) Even when she failed, she proved that woman can be just as good as men. She accomplished so much in the time she was here. She did things like becoming the first woman to fly a solo round trip flight across the U.S. in 1928, and even set the woman s speed record of 181 miles per hour in 1930. The aforementioned corruption contributes greatly to many of the main plot points in the story such as; the harassment of the prisoners, the smuggling of contraband items into Shawshank, and the prisoners making their own lives easier by using the corruption for their own purposes. (35) Even though Bogs would be known to everyone as something of an antagonist, harassment is still evident, and it is obvious that the easily corruptible guards pressured by bribes allowed him to be harassed. The United States has been an icon for freedom and integrity for generations before us and is bound to have written in various texts around the world. The United States has done its best to do the right thing throughout the world. It believes itself to be the one to fix the issues that are happening in the world around them as an act of kindness and justice. In the first World War, when Britain was falling and the German troops were right on the horizon, American President at the time, chose to involve us in a war that had originally not been our own. At the time of 1917, President Woodrow Wilson admitted us into the campaign as a show that we would take a stand against the German Empire. The country did the same at the year of 1941 in World War II, only after Japan had initiated an attack on American soil. As seen from these two occurrences, America only then would involve themselves in foreign affairs when it was necessary to do so and where they were involved themselves. There is also the idea that America shouldn t be involved in foreign affairs as a whole, due to its moral and economic effect upon the country. In the idea of the involvement causing economic hassles to the country, those that think this usually lean towards the liberal standpoint of the country. • 16. Trail Of Tears Sparknotes Most Americans have at least some vague understanding of the Trail of Tears, but not many know about the events that led to that tragic removal of thousands of Indians from their homeland. Indian lands were held hostage by the states and the federal government. The Indians had to agree to removal to maintain their tribe identities. Trail of Tears is an excellent example of a particular situation and will be eye opening to those who are not familiar with the story of the southern tribes and their interactions with the rapidly growing American population. The Trail of Tears has become the symbol in American history that indicates the callousness, insensitivity, and cruelty of American government toward American Indians in 1839 and 1839. The book The Trail of Tears: The Rise and fall of the Cherokee Nation, by John Ehle displays the full history of a Native American democratic state, which is the Cherokee Nation. Like the United States, it was born in bloodshed and war, but instead of continuing to last, it grew for only a few years and then was destroyed by President Andrew Jackson and the government of the state of Georgia. Ehle includes a great deal of primary sources, such as journals, military orders, letters, etc., that serve to enrich the story. • 17. The Market And Economic Conditions For Buying And... Introduction Interested in near future business ideas, Cousin Edgar is considering buying two gasoline (gas) stations. Gasoline is a fuel that, he believes, most American consumers will continue to use for the foreseeable future and anticipates that the gasoline prices will continue moderately stable. The business planning will evaluate the market and economic conditions for buying and operating the two gas stations. The evaluation will be inclusive of Edgars expectation of his gas stations basic economic conditions such as supply and demand, elasticity, costs of production, pricing, and normal economic profit/loss. Cousin Edgar does believe that the opportunity for a healthy profit on the sale of convenience items at each station could complement the gas stations business profits. Determinants of Demand There is a demand for the availability of gas stations that offer not only fuel retailing but also food items for the consumers convenience. Edgar is aware that his retail gas station business could offer complementary items to enhance the gas stations revenues. Preliminary review of this business idea recognized that the national average of fuel prices has been declining since the end of 2014, http:/ /www.fuelgaugereport.com/. The main things that should be considered are: what it restricts, why not to place restrictions, why restrictions are considered. Getting a license is a precaution placed in order to ensure that the owner is acceptable to take care of an exotic animal. Someone looking to own an exotic pet should require a license no matter the state. States should also not ban the ownership of these exotic petsfor that s restrictive on human aspirations. Restricting human choice shouldn t be acceptable unless a human s choice(s) reduces another s capabilities. Humans are at a point where nothing is above our species, therefore, if the capabilities of these exotic animals aren t enough to keep them from us, then humans do whatever they like. Databases, indices, and market reports are now essential analytical tools with which art investors can assess financial performance. Over the past few decades, researchers have used different methodologies to calculate the financial returns on art investments, based on public auction records. 2.1.1 General Review There are four main methodologies for producing art price indices. Average prices, geometric means, repeat sales and hedonic regressions. The first significant study was by Stein (1977), who analyzes the financial return of auctioned paintings in USA and Britain for the period of 1946 68 by using the average prices methods. Stein considered the auctioned objects each year as a random sample of the underlying stock of art and constructs an index based on the yearly average transaction price. Baumol (1986) and Frey and Pommerehne (1989) calculate the geometric mean return on works that sold at least twice during the considered time frame. Baumol constructs a data set of transaction prices of the best known art works from 1652 to 1961 in London by using geometric mean method. Revisiting Baumol s study, Frey and Pommerehne enlarge the data set by extending the time period to 1987 and including auction sales from European countries. Unlike uranium, thorium is much safer, energy efficient, and abundant (Halper). Thorium has little to no risk of a nuclear meltdown because thorium needs to be paired with plutonium in order to produce electricity, unlike uranium which simply needs itself. More importantly, one ton of thorium can produce the same amount of energy as 3 tons of uranium and 3,500,000 tons of coal (Halper). It is much more viable to have a thorium reactor in a city rather than a traditional coal fired plant due to this reason. John Root eventually falls ill and dies, him being the architectural genius of the project. Burnham reads a newspaper that says that he will not be able to build such a fair on his own, and so pushes even harder to build a truly memorable fair. Chicago is at first described as a cheery place full of patriotism for their own city and this pride is what essentially produces good for the city. (http://www.creatine.com/creatine.html#source) Usually relying on ATP production for energy is alright except for two problems. The first is that ATP is produced at a slow rate, too slow to supply the energy needed to run a 200 meter sprint, for example. The second problem is that ATP production takes a while to get started. As one goes from rest at the starting line of a race to running at race speed, for example, the traditional method of ATP production does not begin working at full capacity until a couple of minuets have passed. Another source of energy is therefore needed to get one through the early moments of a race or workout. (http://www.creatine.com/creatine.html#source) Creatine phosphate serves as this other source of energy. CP donates its phosphate to ADP, thus creating the ATP needed to make muscles work. It has been hypothesized that by increasing the amount of free Creatine in the diet one could increase the amount of creatine phosphate in skeletal muscles which would then provide better availability of high energy phosphate for energy production during muscle contraction. If one were to start running at top speed from a standing start, creatine phosphate would supply almost all of the necessary energy during the first six seconds of the run. • 41. Analysis Of The Book The Palace For several weeks, Proserpina had stayed with King Pluto in his palace. She spent most of her days ogling his tremendous rose gardens. She loved picking the roses and finding the small white pearl that lay within the rare ones. Red roses were her favourite, their lush, bright petals never drooping or falling, and in some circumstances, they smelled sweeter than any of the other roses. Proserpinas favourite rose of all, however, was one made entirely of rubies and emeralds. The red rubies made up the petals and the emeralds became the stem and a leaf. It was kept inside of a large glass case, where only its beauty was allowed. Every morning after Plutobrought Proserpina to his castle, he would hear her wake up in the early hours of the day, right when the sun began to rise, and watch her pick flowers through his large window overlooking his land. He was lucky that she did not know who he was, the God of the Underworld, she only thought he was the king of diamonds and stones. Plutohad a plan, once he got her to eat something, she would be trapped in his kingdom forever, his underworld. For now, however, he had to just watch as she deteriorated from hunger. It wasn t that bad to be brutally honest, he s seen much worse. Since staying there, Proserpina had vowed not to eat anything that she found, or anything that was given to her. She was afraid that if she ate anything, it would deprive her of all of her bad memories and make her forget all of her cares. Really, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Paralysis in Dubliners Essay In his letters, Joyce himself has said that Dubliners was meant to betray the soul of that hemiplegia or paralysis which many consider a city (55). The paralysis he was talking about is the paralysis of action. The characters in Dubliners exemplify paralysis of action in their inability to escape their lives. In another of Joyce s writings, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Joyce writes of Ireland: When the soul of a man is born in this country there are nets flung at it to hold it back from flight. You talk to me of nationality, language, religion. I shall try to fly by those nets (Joyce 238). The characters of Dubliners face similar nets that prevent them from escaping their lives. Unfortunately, their attempts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is in this way that his fear of failure keeps him paralyzed in his unhappy life. An additional example of paralysis through indetermination comes in A Painful Case. In the story, Mr. Duffy pursues a relationship with a woman he met at an event. For a time, this allows him to break from his monotonous life. The problem is, the woman is married, and when the possibility of love comes in the picture, out of fear Mr. Duffy decides to break off the relationship. This returns not only himself, but the woman as well to the previous condition of paralysis and unchanging dullness of life. Another common cause for paralysis would be bonds that tie the characters to the city and their dull lives, preventing them from escaping. Nowhere it seems is this more evident than in Eveline, where the main character attempts to break free of her life and escape across the sea with a sailor named Frank. Yet at the end of the story, as she is about to leave, she changes her mind and does not board the ship with Frank. She clings to the pier railing like a helpless animal as she watches him leave (Joyce 32). This action was caused partly by fear or rather anxiety from facing a completely new and different life, but much more influential was the bond that Eveline had to her family. Her promise made to her dying mother to keep the home together as long as she could heavily weighs on her decision to stay (Joyce 30). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Primary Source Analysis An Overview By Lord Keeper Bacon at the Opening of Parliament, 12 January 1563 In 1563 Lord Keeper Bacon, a member of parliament, wrote a letter to Queen Elizabeth I, which was presented to parliament on January 12, 1563, requesting the issues with the church teaching be resolved. The letter argued that in order for Lord Keeper Bacon, as well as his lord bishops, to truly understand the religion, Queen Elizabeth I must reform the issues regarding the teachings of doctrine and discipline. This document is a speech on the matter of religious settlements in the early Elizabethan era. It calls for clarifications of the teachings of doctrine and discipline, which were necessary to sustain religion. Regarding the teachings of doctrine, the issues presented in this speech pertain to ministers who were either accustomed to teaching with the beliefs of Catholicism or who do not teach the true word of God. In addition, the issues regarding discipline are that the ministers and members of the church may have become corrupt with no true disciplinary consequences set forth as punishment. This document is written in a time where the religion had been changed numerous times, leaving the people, including the author, Lord Keeper Bacon, confused. Although somewhat unsure as to what the exact guidelines for the religious settlement would be, Lord Keeper Bacon was not kept in the dark. • 47. The Chemistry Of Diffusion Of Osmosis Diffusion is the random movement of particles, caused by kinetic energy, from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration. Once the two substances are in equilibrium, diffusion still occurs. However, the substances stay in equilibrium, as the random movement is equal across both sides. Osmosisis the diffusion of water, through a selectively permeable membrane. A selectively permeable membrane is a membrane that allows certain molecules to pass through itself, and is resistant to other molecules. Osmosis is a very important process by cells, with uses such as the absorption of water. Many cells are placed in solutions with a similar solute solvent ratio, to prevent rapid intake or expulsion of water. Osmosis causes a change in turgor pressure, and in osmotic pressure. Tugor pressure is the pressure exerted on the cytoplasm on the cellcaused by the intake or expulsion of water. Osmotic pressure is the pressure of the water If the turgor pressure in a cell is too great, than the cell may explode. If the turgor pressure inside the cell is too low, the cell will shrivel. All my life I have been surrounded by technology, almost more than half of my family has a career in the IT field, which is what sparked my interest. My earliest memory of when I first became interested was when I was about 6 and my mother bought me a phonics dog, and I was more interested in how it worked rather than what it did. I then saw the screw bolts and knew if I used a screwdriver I could see the inside of the toy so I opened it, and from then on I knew I was interested in technology. While observing the feeding, I focused on one particular hydranth with 18 tentacles that captured and ingested 8 Artemia. Meanwhile, a hydranth of similar size with 15 tentacles caught no brine shrimp, even though many passed by it within reach. This lead to the question of why some hydranths feed while others do not. I would like to determine if there is a specific reason as to why some hydranths fed and others did not. Does the relative size of the hydranths cause different feeding habits? • 51. The Benefits Of New Media And Technology What is the self in the digital age? One might say that their true online self is on Facebook, or MySpace, or maybe Instagram. The splintering of the self into multiple versions illustrates a desire to see what one can be online. Truly, new media and technology has allowed one to find their true inner self, whether that reflect their real self in real life or not. Yet, not everyone sees these disparate selves with optimism. Sherry Turkle and Natasha SchГјll see the growth of new mediaand technology as detrimental to the formation of our true selves and both critically analyze specific cases where it can be harmful. I, however, disagree with the sentiment that new media and technology is something inherently harmful. Although they can certainly be misused, the benefits of these digital innovations can, when applied with critical understanding, outweigh the negatives brought up by Turkle and SchГјll. First, Turkle argues that social media is preventing adolescents from dedicating time to self reflection and replacing face to face communication with online communication. Turkle states in her book, Alone Together, that teens need time to discover themselves, time to think. But technology, put in the service of always on communication and telegraphic speed and brevity, has changed the rules of engagement with all of this. Here, Turkle state that since social media is easily accessible and immediate, teenagers will be compelled to interact online, instead of taking the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
