Have you heard about indoor pollution? Scientists say that, because we spend 90% of our lives indoors, we need to keep indoor

air clean too. What kinds of things cause pollution in

our indoor places? Mould, bacteria or viruses can possibly be inside heating and cooling systems. Also, tobacco smoke contains

chemicals that may cause cancer, harm young children through respiratory infections, or cause lung and heart disease. Carbon

and even small amounts of it can cause tiredness or headache. Carbon monoxide can be found in heating systems, fuel-burning

stoves, fireplaces, water heaters and dryers.

So what can we do to reduce indoor pollution? Control sources of pollution, first by choosing environment-friendly products. Second, have working

carbon monoxide detectors. Third, prevent mould by keeping bathrooms, kitchens and basements clean. Furthermore, improve ventilation indoors by

opening windows and getting the air flowing. Finally, clear air with air cleaners that can collect pollutants by drawing air

through a filter and sending out clean air.
