The city of Greenfield lost a 9-acre park in 1998, leaving it with only 105 acres of park land. In 1999, a non-profit called PARCS was created to help acquire more park land. In 2000, PARCS acquired a 63-acre parcel of land. From 2001-2002, PARCS funded the acquisition through several large donations. From 2004-2006 and 2007-2008, PARCS developed the park in two phases through additional public and private funds totaling over $1.1 million, more than doubling the size of the city's park system.
