Purpose
Explain the concept of a knowledge worker.
Define and explain nursing informatics and highlight the role of a nurse leader as a knowledge worker.
The concept of a knowledge worker
The term “knowledge worker” was first coined by Peter Drucker. Ducker defined knowledge workers as high-level workers who apply theoretical and analytical knowledge, acquired through formal training, to develop products and services (CFI, 2019). He emphasized that due to the high level of productivity and creativity of knowledge worker, that they would be the most valuable assets in the 21st century organization. Professionals that can be referred to as knowledge worker includes engineers, pharmacists, architects, financial analysts, public accountants, physicians, scientists, design thinkers, and lawyers. Furthermore, knowledge workers have a high degree of expertise, experience, education and the primary purpose of their jobs involve the distribution, creation and application of knowledge.

Nursing Informatics
Nursing Informatics is a subset of informatics, specific to the nursing field and the role of the nurse in the healthcare setting. There has been several interpretation of nursing informatics. The American Nurses Association (ANA), identified nursing informatics as a specialty that integrates nursing, science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, and knowledge in nursing practice (ANA, 2001, pg.17).

Nurse leader as a knowledge worker.
A nurse leader is one who inspire others to work together to achieve a common goal, for instance enhanced patient care or satisfaction. All nurses are called to nurse leadership, however there are different levels of nurse leadership. Nurse leaders are expected to help the organization to fulfill the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategies to achieve long-range plans. Nurse leaders part take in policy setting, overseeing quality measures are carried out, accountability for overall quality of patient care delivery, staff satisfaction and organizational outcomes. For a nurse leader as a knowledge worker to be productive in an organization, the nurse leader must understand that knowledge work requires continuous learning on the part of the knowledge worker, but equally continuous teaching on the part of the knowledge worker. Having said that, a knowledge worker nurse leader will depend hugely on evidenced based practice to be productive in a healthcare organization. The use of EBP by knowledge worker nurse leader will require learning and teaching. Most healthcare organizations or hospitals rely on evidenced based.

The topic that I selected for my senior project was “challenges of employee recruitment and retention of health care professionals”. I chose this topic because it is a growing problem among the healthcare institutions. The professionals who are capable of delivering best efforts in health care institutions are less in number and the opportunities that they have in this modern world are a lot. The human resources department of health care institutions adapt many modern ways to overcome these challenges. It is very interesting to understand such modern methods of human resources department for employee retention. At the same time, it’s interesting to visualize how the employees react to the actions performed by the human resources department of such healthcare institutions. In case the human resources department is unable to retain their employees irrespective of the hard measures taken by them, the backup plans executed by them in such cases are also worth studying.
Organization Specific Rationale:
New York Presbyterian is the health care organisation that I have selected for my senior project. This health care organisation is one of the top medical service providers in US. They have won several awards for maintaining good quality in delivering the health care services. The latest award that they have won is the “Energy Star Award” from EPA. This health care organisation offers a wide variety of medical services for their patients. The staff of this organisation is highly capable of delivering the best results. (http://nyp.org/, n.d.)
There are several challenges and opportunities that impact the balance between the health care costs for this organisation. Although NYP (New York Presbyterian) is a known name in medical field, it has to enforce several strict measures to control the cost and maintain steady income. The services offered by NYP are high class services so it’s not necessary that all the insurance plans cover it. Therefore only a specific category of patients can afford to have a treatment from this hospital. The running cost of the medical equipment installed in this hospital is also very high therefore the government aides are often necessary for this hospital. The salaries of the staff (including doctors) is also a major expense for the organisation.
NYP does not compromise with the quality of the health care services. Although the cost is directly proportional to the quality, the organisation manages its cost in such a way that the reputation of the hospital is never at stake. The multiple awards that are received by NYP is a result of the consistent reputation of the hospital is never at stake. The concept of a knowledge worker
The term “knowledge worker” was first coined by Peter Drucker. Ducker defined knowledge workers as high-level workers who apply theoretical and analytical knowledge, acquired through formal training, to develop products and services (CFI, 2019). He emphasized that due to the high level of productivity and creativity of knowledge worker, that they would be the most valuable assets in the 21st century organization. Professionals that can be referred to as knowledge worker includes engineers, pharmacists, architects, financial analysts, public accountants, physicians, scientists, design thinkers, and lawyers. Furthermore, knowledge workers have a high degree of expertise, experience, education and the primary purpose of their jobs involve the distribution, creation and application of knowledge.

Analyses of Big Data Into the Audit Process?

ABSTRACT: This study investigates how the timing of the consideration of Big Data visualizations affects an
auditor’s evaluation of evidence and professional judgments. In addition, we examine whether the use of an intuitive
processing mode, as compared to a deliberative processing mode, influences an auditor’s use and evaluation of Big
Data visualizations. We conduct an experiment with 127 senior auditors from two Big 4 firms and find that auditors
have difficulty recognizing patterns in Big Data visualizations when viewed before more traditional audit evidence.
Our findings also indicate that auditors who view Big Data visualizations containing patterns that are contrary to
management assertions after they view traditional audit evidence have greater concerns about potential
misstatements and increase budgeted hours more. Overall, our results suggest that Big Data visualizations used
as evidential matter have fewer benefits when they are viewed before auditors examine more traditional audit
evidence.

I. INTRODUCTION
T
he financial statement audit process increasingly involves the use of greater amounts of data and more sophisticated
analytical tools. In order to leverage the value of new data sources and ultimately reduce the risk of material
misstatement, audit firms are now evaluating audit approaches that encompass multiple external and internal sources of
data (Yoon, Hoogduin, and Zhang 2015). Many of the new approaches involve harnessing the richness of information
contained in what is commonly referred to as Big Data. We examine auditors’ use of Big Data to identify relevant patterns that
can be used to inform their audit judgments and decisions.
Big Data consists of large, unstructured datasets that are beyond the processing capabilities of traditional querying tools
and that include data from financial and nonfinancial sources (Brown-Liburd, Issa, and Lombardi 2015). Big Data is generated
on a continuous basis from a wide variety of sources with varying degrees of veracity (Zhang, Yang, and Appelbaum 2015).

Explain the concept of a knowledge worker.
Define and explain nursing informatics and highlight the role of a nurse leader as a knowledge worker.
The concept of a knowledge worker
The term “knowledge worker” was first coined by Peter Drucker. Ducker defined knowledge workers as high-level workers who apply theoretical and analytical knowledge, acquired through formal training, to develop products and services (CFI, 2019). He emphasized that due to the high level of productivity and creativity of knowledge worker, that they would be the most valuable assets in the 21st century organization. Professionals that can be referred to as knowledge worker includes engineers, pharmacists, architects, financial analysts, public accountants, physicians, scientists, design thinkers, and lawyers. Furthermore, knowledge workers have a high degree of expertise, experience, education and the primary purpose of their jobs involve the distribution, creation and application of knowledge.

Nursing Informatics is a subset of informatics, specific to the nursing field and the role of the nurse in the healthcare setting. There has been several interpretation of nursing informatics. The American Nurses Association (ANA), identified nursing informatics as a specialty that integrates nursing, science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, and knowledge in nursing practice (ANA, 2001, pg.17).

A nurse leader is one who inspire others to work together to achieve a common goal, for instance enhanced patient care or satisfaction. All nurses are called to nurse leadership, however there are different levels of nurse leadership. Nurse leaders are expected to help the organization to fulfill the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategies to achieve long-range plans. Nurse leaders part take in policy setting, overseeing quality measures are carried out, accountability for overall quality of patient care delivery, staff satisfaction and organizational outcomes. Analyses of Big Data Into the Audit Process?

ABSTRACT: This study investigates how the timing of the consideration of Big Data visualizations affects an
auditor’s evaluation of evidence and professional judgments. In addition, we examine whether the use of an intuitive
processing mode, as compared to a deliberative processing mode, influences an auditor’s use and evaluation of Big
Data visualizations. We conduct an experiment with 127 senior auditors from two Big 4 firms and find that auditors
have difficulty recognizing patterns in Big Data visualizations when viewed before more traditional audit evidence.
Our findings also indicate that auditors who view Big Data visualizations containing patterns that are contrary to
management assertions after they view traditional audit evidence have greater concerns about potential
misstatements and increase budgeted hours more. Overall, our results suggest that Big Data visualizations used
as evidential matter have fewer benefits when they are viewed before auditors examine more traditional audit
evidence.

I. INTRODUCTION
T
he financial statement audit process increasingly involves the use of greater amounts of data and more sophisticated
analytical tools. In order to leverage the value of new data sources and ultimately reduce the risk of material
misstatement, audit firms are now evaluating audit approaches that encompass multiple external and internal sources of
data (Yoon, Hoogduin, and Zhang 2015). Many of the new approaches involve harnessing the richness of information
contained in what is commonly referred to as Big Data. We examine auditors’ use of Big Data to identify relevant patterns that
can be used to inform their audit judgments and decisions.
Big Data consists of large, unstructured datasets that are beyond the processing capabilities of traditional querying tools
and that include data from financial and nonfinancial sources (Brown-Liburd, Issa, and Lombardi 2015). Big Data is generated
on a continuous basis from a wide variety of sources with varying degrees of veracity (Zhang, Yang, and Appelbaum 2015).
