Romanian unemployment rate has fluctuated in recent years. There are several reasons for unemployment in Romania, including lack of motivation among recent graduates and negligence among some adults. Romania provides unemployment benefits calculated based on an individual's prior income and insurance payments. Benefits can be claimed by Romanian citizens who were employed in Romania as well as citizens working abroad. 10. Benefits of unemployment
In Romania, people can ask for some unemployment benefits if they are either
romanian citizens who are employed or who earn income in Romania,
romanian citizens working abroad, or foreign or stateless citizens who have
their residence in Romania while they are employed or earn income.
Benefits:
Unemployment compensation is calculated taking into value of the reference
social indicator
(ISR) - 500 RON in 1 january 2022 (aprox. 100 EUR)
The benefits are also calculated considering the individual's income, and the
payment is realised monthly.

11. Benefits of unemployment in 2021:
The beneficiaries can be people insured in the unemployment insurance
system, but also graduated people.
The people that had been working for at least a year will get 75% of the ISR
(375 RON ~ 76 EUR), but that number can grow based on their contribution
period (between 3-5 years - +3%, between 5-10 years - +5%, between 10-20
years - +7% and over 20 years - +10%).
In the same time, graduated people get 50% of the ISR all the time, meaning
250 RON (50 EUR).

12. Programs for unemployed people
The Romanian Guvern introduces a program that helps unemployed people. To acces
this program you have to be between 16-64 years old and have lost your job recently or
be recently graduated.
The program last for 60 days an each month they support you with ~100 euro but in
this time you are supposed to search for a job and at the final of those 60 days you
necessarily have to get a job.
