This document summarizes a dissertation submitted in partial fulfillment of a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering at the University of Surrey. The dissertation examines progressive collapse analysis of steel buildings using the alternate load path method. Several guidelines for progressive collapse are discussed, including Eurocode 1, Approved Document A of the UK Building Regulations, and guidelines from the US including the Unified Facilities Criteria and General Services Administration. Two types of analysis are performed on a 10-story steel building model in SAP2000: linear static procedure and nonlinear static procedure. Column removal scenarios are analyzed to examine the structural response. The results of both analyses are presented and discussed.
