Sensex continue 'green' streak for fifth straight day; Midcaps end flat

Following a gap up start on optimistic global cues, Nifty continued the momentum towards 6100 milestone before
closing at 6078. Sensex gained over a ton to cross 20300 mark. On sectorial front, Consumer Durables topped the
charts today.
Among global markets, US indices climbed on the back of good earnings and economic data. Going with the flow,
Asian and European markets too traded in green zone.
Back home, banking regulator, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has further tightened the norms for Gold import by banks
and other authorized agencies with a view to manage burgeoning Current Account Deficit (CAD). The authorized
agencies will have to make sure that at least one - fifth of the imported Gold should be available for the purpose of
export. Additionally, the banks and other entities will also be required to retain 20 per cent of the imported quantity of
the gold in customs bonded warehouses. (Read More)
Jewellery stocks Titan and PC jewelers spiked 5.85% and 18.70% on BSE after clarifying that the RBI norms won’t
affect their bottomlines and are positive for them.
Financial Technologies soared 7.39% on BSE as UBS made a “buy” rating for the stock once again with a target of Rs
1000.
Bayer CropScience tanked 8.65% on BSE after the company set floor price of Rs 1580 per share for buy back. The
said price is 10% discount to previous close.

Century Textiles & Industries shined 1.27% on BSE after posting over 15 fold jump of 1462% in Q1FY14 Net at Rs
37.65 crore as compared to Rs 2.41 crore on year on year basis. Total income has increased by 14.40% at Rs
1595.59 crore as compared to Rs 1394.75 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2012. (Featured Result)
Dewan Housing Finance Corporation surged 4.37% on BSE after reporting 54.57% rise in Q1 at Rs 120.30 crore as

Unichem laboratories jumped 1.37% on BSE on registering 9% rise in Q1 Net at Rs 36 crore on year on year basis.

Shriram Transport Finance Company rose 2.35% on BSE after the company reported 5.96% rise in Q1 Net at Rs

The market breadth on the BSE closed in positive. Advancing and declining stocks were 1191 and 1176 respectively,
while 175 scrips remained unmoved.
The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 20302.13, up 143.01 points or 0.71%. The 30 share index touched a high and a low
of 20351.06 and 20249.98 respectively. 21 stocks advanced against 9 declining ones on the benchmark index.
The CNX Nifty gained 46.00 points or 0.76% to settle at 6077.80. The index touched high and low of 6093.35 and
6061.30 respectively. 35 stocks advanced against 15 declining ones on the index.
S&P BSE Sensex CNX Nifty
The S&P BSE Mid-cap index moved up to 5999.29 and gained 0.06% while S&P BSE Small-cap index hammered
down by 0.10% to 5682.48.
The broader S&P BSE 500 index increased to 7422.61 (up 0.59%) and CNX 500 index rose to 4660.75 (up 0.64%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX lost 5.16% at 16.72 from its previous close of 17.63 on Monday.

On the BSE Sectorial front, Consumer Durables (up 3.85%), FMCG (up 1.53%) and Real Estate (up 1.42%) were the
top gainers. There was no loser among BSE sectorials.

Hindustan Unilever Ltd (up 3.19%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (up 2.23%), Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (up 2.11%),
State Bank of India (up 2.03%) and Sterlite Industries (India) Ltd (up 1.87%) were the top gainers on the Sensex.
Wipro Ltd (down 2.23%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 1.79%), Coal India Ltd (down 0.58%), Cipla Ltd (down 0.56%) and
Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (down 0.47%) were the top losers on the Sensex.

ITC Ltd (44.38 points), Hindustan Unilever Ltd (28.32 points), ICICI Bank (20.49 points), Infosys Ltd (14.51 points) and
State Bank of India (13.42 points) were the major Sensex drivers today.
On the other end ITC Ltd (11.53 points), Hindustan Unilever Ltd (7.02 points), ICICI Bank (5.26 points), Kotak
Mahindra Bank Ltd (3.73 points) and Infosys Ltd (3.69 points) were the major Nifty movers today.
