The document analyzes the #NoBanNoWall hashtag on Twitter in response to President Trump's 2017 executive order temporarily banning immigration from seven predominantly Muslim countries. Social Media’s Victory in the 2016 Presidential Election
There has been a lot of talk since the 2016 presidential election because of how unique it
was compared to all the previous ones. Only recently has social media started to play a
significant role in political campaigns, which can clearly be seen with Donald trump’s campaign
in the 2016 election. This paper examines articles written by Michael Barbaro and Christine
Lagorio-Chafkin for the New York Times alongside academic journals written by Gunn Enli and
Frida Ghitis for the European Journal of Communications and the World Politics Review,
respectively. Regarding social media, many tend to focus on its rise in popular culture, the
following of people of people that it tends to bring, and its use by the candidate or its political
party. Although there are people who argue that Trump’s political views and ideologies are what
gave him an advantage, Trump’s social media is what led him to victory.
For one thing, it is clear that social media is generally on the rise in society, today. A
majority of researchers would agree that the rise of social media has been prominent in these past
few years. Michael Barbaro, author of “Pithy, Mean, and Powerful: Donald Trump Mastered
Twitter for 2016,” states how social media is free and can relay information to the public in a
quick way. Barbaro points out how this can be useful, especially as it slowly substitutes for
“costly, conventional” methods. As an example, Barbaro mentions how rival campaigns
acknowledge the advantage Trump has because of his millions of Twitter followers and how he
gets more mentions and retweets compared to other candidates. Gunn Enli, author of “Twitter as

Arena for the Authentic Outsider: Exploring the Social Media Campaigns of Trump and Clinton
in the 2016 US Presidential Election,” takes this further, believing that social media can easily
reach the masses and serve as a main source of information. Enli reminds us that new platforms
have emerged while existing ones have expanded. Christin Lagorio-Chafkin, author of “Reddit
and the God Emperor of the Internet,” has a more specific focus on social media, claiming that
Reddit has become one of the most significant websites on the internet. Lagorio-Chafkin
observes how Trump’s subreddit “The_Donald” has gained around 300,000 members (It has
over half a million now as of October 2017). On the other hand, Frida Ghitis, author of “Trump’s
Victory Was Aided by Russia’s Weaponized Social Media Campaign,” takes on a different
focus: WikiLeaks. Arguably a type of social media, WikiLeaks grew to a significant size such
that it could be used to weaponize information. While all four authors believe that social media is

I choose a study that was in the personality and individual differences group that was titled “Personality and Body Image in Young Woman”. As a participant I was asked to answer a lot of questions about my body and how I felt about it.
For this study I believe that this research is applied. Why? Well first let’s see what the book says about applied research “applied research investigates issues that have implications for everyday life and provide solutions to everyday problems” (Stangor 2015). Although some may disagree about what type of research this, I believe that this is applied because it deals with everyday issues and people have been trying to find solutions for this problem for many years. Body image has been a battle in the world for many young women, some even dating back to pre-teen and teen years.
I believe that some of the strengths would be allowing woman to express body images completely anonymous without fear of someone knowing it was them. Also, it allows woman to recognize the body image issues that they have by “forcing” them to identify what they dislike about themselves. I think some of the limitations is it being anonymous (I know you are screaming but let me explain). I believe that this study being anonymous makes it seem like the woman is alone in this self-conscious world. When in fact there are many and I mean MANY women, who struggle with this. Another limitation is at the end there is no next step to take after you complete the study. Woman need to know what is next and what they can to help themselves.
Over all I believe that this study does make you do self-reflection.

captured the Republican Party, they may turn to the spring of 2007, when George W.
Bush threw his waning powers behind a legalization plan and conservative populists
buried it in scorn.
Mr. Bush was so taken aback, he said he worried about America “losing its soul,” and
immigration politics have never been the same.
That spring was significant for another reason, too: An intense young man with wary,
hooded eyes and fiercely anti-immigrant views graduated from college and began a
meteoric rise as a Republican operative. With the timing of a screenplay, the man and
the moment converged.
Stephen Miller was 22 and looking for work in Washington. He lacked government
experience but had media appearances on talk radio and Fox News and a history of

Martin Luther King Jr.: A Quest for Peace and Equality by Mackenzie Flaws. Martin Luther King Jr. played an important role in the civil rights movement during the 1950’s and 1960’s. This presentation will discuss King’s ideas and the impacts he made on social change within America.
The Beginning: The Montgomery Bus Boycott
MLK was a minister at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church when Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to surrender her seat on a segregated bus to a white man. He was nominated by members of the church to lead the Montgomery Improvement Association (MIA) and ended up becoming the chair of MIA (Wilson, 2005). King helped develop the local boycott into a social justice movement that reached international significance while also developing his main idea of nonviolent social change (Carson, 2005).
Civil Rights Movement: A Leader for Nonviolence
The violent tactics of the white supremacists is what caused King to develop nonviolence resistance as a practical strategy. There are more than a thousand documented violent incidences committed by the white supremacists aimed towards stopping integration from 1956-1966 including burning, bombing, abduction, castration, and murder (Bermanzohn, 2000). King believed that using a nonviolence strategy would force the state to recognize and combat the racist violence that was being enacted upon the African American race (Bermanzohn, 2000).
Civil Rights Movement: The Power of Words
King is most widely known for his powerful speeches that resonated with everyone who heard him. He would use his speeches to reinforce his ideas for nonviolent social change and quest for equality among all races. I Have a Dream is one of his most famous speeches that was presented at a gathering of 250,000 people at the Washington Monument before the March on Washington. He had a singular goal of expressing the dire need to secure basic civil rights for African Americans. King was the only speaker that ultimately captured the collective conscience of the American people and his words transformed the March on Washington into an unforgettable historic event (Vail, 2000).

Any debate about immigration is informed by ideas about the character of a nation.
Immigrants impact not just the current workforce, institutions, culture, and political
orientation of a society; more important, they shape the nation’s future. What is this
country all about? How do we want to evolve? What kind of society do we want to be and
become?
While the United States has always been a country of immigrants, historically
immigration was restricted in many ways. There have been waves of immigrants from
different parts of the world, and at different times certain groups were deemed more
desirable than others. The debate about who should be allowed to come here and
ultimately become American citizens continues. The political struggle about President
Trump’s proposed wall at the US-Mexican border is one manifestation of a long history
of arguments for and against immigration.
Assignment: Write a 3- to 4-page essay using at least 3 of the following sources as
well as several interviews with people who represent the various political positions on
the issue. If you like, you may use other sources, preferably articles from reputable
magazines and newspapers, like The Guardian, The New York Times, and The Wall
Street Journal. You don’t have to take a position, though you are welcome to if you
wish—just be sure to marshal some evidence to support your view. Either way—staying
neutral or offering your opinion—your essay needs to shed light on the complex
motivations and concerns of proponents and opponents of immigration. Why do people
feel the way they do? Why do they get so passionate about immigration? Discuss 3 or 4

Hillary Clinton was the only female candidate to governance next to her husband, Bill Clinton. As evident, she was the single lady who got to rule in the 20th and 21st centuries. She wanted to make the United States powerful in the economy, not just politically. She started working on the economy in the earlier days, and then she stepped towards the military gains of the states. This not only worked, but it also created havoc among the nation to have come under the light of a smart lady. The government and the people at first were not willing to believe, but she gained the trust of all. She worked on the affordable care act for the children and helped them dearly. She stood up for women's rights under the violence against women act. Meaning, she stood up for all acts and rights and made sure that they are implemented. As far as being a US senator is concerned, she stood between the war of Russia and the US and made them sign a treaty. She promoted peace, harmony, culture. She was the first lady who stood for the Copenhagen Climate change Accord. All of this not only helped in helping the children, with their lives, education, etc. it helped the country with better people, better economy, better military respondents, peace, and harmonious culture. She is greatly loved and supported by 74% of the world's stats. She has 487.2K followers just on Facebook .
Although things are quite positive, there are a few people who won't agree with this. This is mostly because people have different opinions and mindsets, depending on their different personalities. A hot-button issue in the American/International Political climate is climate change. This has also been heavily influenced by media interpretation and coverage. The scientific evidence supports the perspective that global climate change is the result of the impact of our species on the environment. However, some hold the perspective that it is just part of the earth's natural cycle. In the meantime, billions of dollars are being invested in projects and initiatives related to climate change. This has become a very divisive issue, with strong opinions about the topic. It also raises the question of who should be trusted when it comes to issues such as these—the people running our governments, scientists, or the media.

Politicians in America are divided on the climate change issue. The Democratic party agrees that climate change is an issue, but they are not sure what to do to fight climate change. The Democratic presidential candidates all agree that we must do something to fight climate change, but they do not agree on what to do. The issue for Democrats appears to be what to do to battle climate change.
The Republicans, for the most part, do not believe that climate change is an issue. The president thinks that it is a hoax and does not pay it much attention. Some Republicans believe it is increasingly doubtful while other Republicans now are beginning to realize that it is an issue that does need some attention. They believe they could lose some voters if they do not support the issue.
The media plays both sides of the issue depending on what audience they are trying to capture.
I do believe that the American people’s responses to the climate change issue, whether agreeing or disagreeing, it is an issue will influence the direction of research. If the American people believe climate change is not an issue and nothing needs to be done, and the politicians agree t.

This classroom observation was conducted over three months (September - November 2016) in Grade 12 US Government classes at Moorpark High School. The focus of my observation was on how media, civic, and visual literacy impacts the students understanding of news, current events and the ongoing political discussion surrounding the 2016 Presidential and State election. An issue that remains to this day is one that remains with most ethnic groups, discrimination. Poor relationships with the Native Americans even after AIM first started many years ago there still is racism and discrimination just like with other ethnic groups such as African Americans and many others. The United States is terrible about racism, and in my opinion, this should stop so that we can all live peacefully among each other and stop hating others over something that has happened centuries ago.

captured the Republican Party, they may turn to the spring of 2007, when George W.
Bush threw his waning powers behind a legalization plan and conservative populists
buried it in scorn.
Mr. Bush was so taken aback, he said he worried about America “losing its soul,” and
immigration politics have never been the same.
That spring was significant for another reason, too: An intense young man with wary,
hooded eyes and fiercely anti-immigrant views graduated from college and began a
meteoric rise as a Republican operative. With the timing of a screenplay, the man and
the moment converged.
Stephen Miller was 22 and looking for work in Washington. He lacked government
experience but had media appearances on talk radio and Fox News and a history of
pushing causes like “Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week.” A first-term congresswoman
from Minnesota offered him a job interview and discovered they were reading the same
book: a polemic warning that Muslim immigration cold mean “the end of the world a.

The Beginning: The Montgomery Bus Boycott
MLK was a minister at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church when Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to surrender her seat on a segregated bus to a white man. He was nominated by members of the church to lead the Montgomery Improvement Association (MIA) and ended up becoming the chair of MIA (Wilson, 2005). King helped develop the local boycott into a social justice movement that reached international significance while also developing his main idea of nonviolent social change (Carson, 2005).
Civil Rights Movement: A Leader for Nonviolence
The violent tactics of the white supremacists is what caused King to develop nonviolence resistance as a practical strategy. There are more than a thousand documented violent incidences committed by the white supremacists aimed towards stopping integration from 1956-1966 including burning, bombing, abduction, castration, and murder (Bermanzohn, 2000). King believed that using a nonviolence strategy would force the state to recognize and combat the racist violence that was being enacted upon the African American race (Bermanzohn, 2000).
Civil Rights Movement: The Power of Words
King is most widely known for his powerful speeches that resonated with everyone who heard him. He would use his speeches to reinforce his ideas for nonviolent social change and quest for equality among all races. I Have a Dream is one of his most famous speeches that was presented at a gathering of 250,000 people at the Washington Monument before the March on Washington. He had a singular goal of expressing the dire need to secure basic civil rights for African Americans. King was the only speaker that ultimately captured the collective conscience of the American people and his words transformed the March on Washington into an unforgettable historic event (Vail, 2000).

Any debate about immigration is informed by ideas about the character of a nation.
Immigrants impact not just the current workforce, institutions, culture, and political
orientation of a society; more important, they shape the nation’s future. What is this
country all about? How do we want to evolve? What kind of society do we want to be and
become?
While the United States has always been a country of immigrants, historically
immigration was restricted in many ways. There have been waves of immigrants from
different parts of the world, and at different times certain groups were deemed more
desirable than others. The debate about who should be allowed to come here and
ultimately become American citizens continues. The political struggle about President
Trump’s proposed wall at the US-Mexican border is one manifestation of a long history
of arguments for and against immigration.
Assignment: Write a 3- to 4-page essay using at least 3 of the following sources as
well as several interviews with people who represent the various political positions on
the issue. If you like, you may use other sources, preferably articles from reputable
magazines and newspapers, like The Guardian, The New York Times, and The Wall
Street Journal. You don’t have to take a position, though you are welcome to if you
wish—just be sure to marshal some evidence to support your view. Either way—staying
neutral or offering your opinion—your essay needs to shed light on the complex
motivations and concerns of proponents and opponents of immigration. Why do people
feel the way they do? Why do they get so passionate about immigration? Discuss 3 or 4
related issues, one per paragraph at minimum. (If you have more to say about a
particular issue, feel free to extend your discussion to multiple paragraphs.) Make sure
each paragraph uses information from a source.

She started working on the economy in the earlier days, and then she stepped towards the military gains of the states. This not only worked, but it also created havoc among the nation to have come under the light of a smart lady. The government and the people at first were not willing to believe, but she gained the trust of all. She worked on the affordable care act for the children and helped them dearly. She stood up for women's rights under the violence against women act. Meaning, she stood up for all acts and rights and made sure that they are implemented. As far as being a US senator is concerned, she stood between the war of Russia and the US and made them sign a treaty. She promoted peace, harmony, culture. She was the first lady who stood for the Copenhagen Climate change Accord. All of this not only helped in helping the children, with their lives, education, etc. it helped the country with better people, better economy, better military respondents, peace, and harmonious culture. She is greatly loved and supported by 74% of the world's stats. She has 487.2K followers just on Facebook .
Although things are quite positive, there are a few people who won't agree with this. This is mostly because people have different opinions and mindsets, depending on their different personalities. A hot-button issue in the American/International Political climate is climate change. This has also been heavily influenced by media interpretation and coverage. The scientific evidence supports the perspective that global climate change is the result of the impact of our species on the environment. However, some hold the perspective that it is just part of the earth's natural cycle. In the meantime, billions of dollars are being invested in projects and initiatives related to climate change. This has become a very divisive issue, with strong opinions about the topic. It also raises the question of who should be trusted when it comes to issues such as these—the people running our governments, scientists, or the media.

Politicians in America are divided on the climate change issue. The Democratic party agrees that climate change is an issue, but they are not sure what to do to fight climate change. The Democratic presidential candidates all agree that we must do something to fight climate change, but they do not agree on what to do. The issue for Democrats appears to be what to do to battle climate change.
The Republicans, for the most part, do not believe that climate change is an issue. The president thinks that it is a hoax and does not pay it much attention. Some Republicans believe it is increasingly doubtful while other Republicans now are beginning to realize that it is an issue that does need some attention. They believe they could lose some voters if they do not support the issue.
The media plays both sides of the issue depending on what audience they are trying to capture.
I do believe that the American people’s responses to the climate change issue, whether agreeing or disagreeing, it is an issue will influence the direction of research. If the American people believe climate change is not an issue and nothing needs to be done, and the politicians agree t.

An issue that remains to this day is one that remains with most ethnic groups, discrimination. Poor relationships with the Native Americans even after AIM first started many years ago there still is racism and discrimination just like with other ethnic groups such as African Americans and many others. The United States is terrible about racism, and in my opinion, this should stop so that we can all live peacefully among each other and stop hating others over something that has happened centuries ago.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.

- Hello, I am Jennifer and throughout the semester, I analyzed the hashtag #nobannowall on Twitter
- This topic is very important because it relates to the issue of U.S. immigration. The hashtag was created as an anti-Trump response to his new immigration policies particularly on the U.S.-Mexican border wall, Muslim immigration, and lack of protection and funding for sanctuary cities. The topic is important domestically and internationally. 13.5 percent of the U.S. are immigrants. Internationally, countries face challenges when accepting and integrating new immigrants. I analyzed my hashtag right after Trump signed the executive order that banned U.S. travel from seven predominantly Muslim countries.
- I found that that Users of hashtag attempted to talk to Donald Trump and reach out to individuals who supported him, Discussed Muslim Ban, not other components of issue (Due to time frame)
- In my word graph, I found that users included many resistance-related words to defy Trump including protest, impreach, resistance. All of the words related to the Muslim ban, not other components of the topic such as the wall or sanctuary cities.
- In my social network analysis graph, I found that different groups that had different viewpoints of the issues were connected and actively talked to one another about the issue. In particularly, users tried to reply to individual tweets that opposed their views with contradicting statements. For example, ACLU responded to conservatives about the success of immigrants.
- My findings relate to two articles read in class. Cheney Lippold defines that the Biopower - ”’Power over life’ through management of subjects at level of population.” You may tweet something criticizing or opposing Trump, but since you tweeted or replied to him a lot, you may be categorized as a Trump supporter. Katrin Tiidenberg and Nancy K. Baym discuss about how reigning discourses vs. conformity about pregnant women on social media. Pregnant women gain self worth and social capital if they have the resources to show off various materialistic stages of their pregnancy. Yet, if they do not have the resources to buy so many expensive items for their baby and themselves, they are not as well-known. For people within the resistance, should they tweet Trump or not?
