This document describes the design process for a mechanical crank toy that has many moving parts visible to the user. The goals were for the toy to have around 40 total parts, including 30 moving parts, and to use different mechanisms to power the motion. The designer explored existing similar toys, came up with initial design ideas, and then created 3D renderings of the final design. Simulations were run to analyze the frame and crank using finite element analysis to modify the original designs. A website was created to share details of the project.
