Dicing solar cells can optimize surface area for CubeSats while providing necessary power. CXBN-2 will test dicing and electrically connecting diced solar cell strings to maintain positive power output. Solar cells need dicing to achieve voltage matching for each string. This project will dice solar cell interconnects to satisfy small satellite requirements with optimal area and power. CXBN-2's original design had double fold-out solar panels but a single fold-out reduces risk and cost for the reduced payload power needs. Testing showed diced cells can achieve mission requirements if undamaged, but fogging from dicing causes permanent efficiency losses.
