City under City Museum
Text description provided by the architects. Xuzhou, formerly
known as Pinching, was selected as the second batch of Chinese
National Famous Historical and Cultural Cities in 1986. According
to local chronicles, due to its unique geographical location, the
Xuzhou city site has not been relocated and presents a
superimposed state of the original site. In the overall planning for
the protection of the historical context of Xuzhou City, the City
under the City Museum is a special urban node after the City Wall
Museum project
Introduction to the project
At the beginning of 2020, the design of the museum
began before the excavation work of the site with the
starting point of how to deal with the relationship
between architecture, ruins, and the city, in order to
represent the superimposed urban history.

be summarized by the action of

Louvre Abu
Dhabi
Pritzker-prize winning architect Jean Norvel sought inspiration for
the concept of Louvre Abu Dhabi in traditional Arabic
architectural culture. Taking a contextual approach to the site,
Norvel designed Louvre Abu Dhabi as a ‘museum city’ in the sea.
Its contrasting series of white buildings take inspiration from the
medina and low-lying Arab settlements. In total, 55 individual
buildings, including 23 galleries, make up this museum city. The
façades of the buildings are made up of 3,900 panels of ultra-high
performance fiber concrete (UHPC).
Introduction to the project
The possibility of accessing the museum by boat or finding a pontoon to reach it by
foot from the shore is equally extraordinary, before being welcomed like a much-
awaited visitor willing to see unique collections, linger in tempting bookstores, or
taste local teas, coffees and delicacies.

National
Museum of
Afghanistan
The construction of the National Museum of Afghanistan aims to
celebrate the richness of the country’s cultural heritage and the
spirit of its people. The “Timeless Cube” design proposal
by Matteo Caner Architects awakens the nation’s cultural
heritage through powerful symbolic references, where physical
fragments and traces inform us of its past. This concept is well
illustrated in the ‘negative spaces’ of the artist and sculptor
Rachel Whiteread that highlight the memory of an object,
rendering the invisible visible through a reversal of solid and void.
Introduction to the project
The Timeless Cube embodies the strength, pride and traditions of the Afghan people, providing visitors
with better understanding of the country. The new landmark will be a stage for debate and
reconciliation through an educational program that creatively engages people of all ages in traditional
and non-traditional learning. The history, identity and traditions of its peoples will provide the bedrock
for future generations to understand the culture of their forefathers and a unity in the region.

The great
museum in
Egypt
The building is shaped like a chamfered triangle in plan. It sits on a site 2
kilometers (1.2 miles) northwest of the pyramids, near a motorway
interchange. The building's north and south walls line up directly with
the Great Pyramid of Khufu and the Pyramid of Menkaure. The front of
the museum includes a large plaza filled with date palms and
a façade made of translucent alabaster stone. Inside the main entrance is
a large atrium, where large statues will be exhibited.
The project is estimated to cost US$550 million, of which US$300 million
will be financed from Japanese loans. The remaining costs are financed
by the Supreme Council of Antiquities, other donations, and
Introduction to the project
The exhibition will cover about one-third of the total museum grounds displaying c.18,000
artifacts (c.5000 objects in the Tutankhamun galleries, and c.13,000 objects in the other
galleries) from the museum's total collections of c.50,000 objects. The main attraction will
be the first exhibition of the full tomb collection of King Tutankhamun. The collection
includes about 5,000 items in total and will be relocated from the Egyptian Museum in
Cairo. Other objects will be relocated from storages and museums
in Luxor, Minya, Sohag, Assiut, Beni Suef, Fayoum, the Delta, and Alexandria.[32][33]
In August 2021 the reconstructed Khufu ship, a solar barque, was relocated to the Grand
Egyptian Museum from the Giza Solar boat museum beside the Great Pyramid

Structural System
The building was built of
concrete, where a large hall
was found in the center of the
building for ventilation, and
sustainability was found
integrated with the building
from the inside to purify the
air and create an aesthetic
view
Example 4 Country: Qatar
Architects: Ateliers Jean Nouvel
Gros area:52000 m2
Area: 34000m²
Year: 2019
National
Museum of
Qatar
The building design is inspired by a mineral formation commonly found in the
deserts of the Gulf region. The ‘desert rose’ is a rock formed when minerals
crystallize in the crumbly soil just below the surface of a shallow salt basin. The
system of interlocking disks surrounding the historic palace like necklace looks as
if it’s been propagated organically. It incorporates exhibition spaces that fan out in
an elliptical circuit around a central court, the Hush, where outdoor cultural
events will be staged. The desert-rose form evokes the culture and climate of
Qatar. It emerges from the ground and merges with it. The shadows created by
overhanging elements allow visitors to stroll around outside at the same time as
protecting the interior from light and heat. The sand-colored concrete cladding is
in harmony with the local environment.
Introduction to the project
The museum is surrounded by a landscaped park that reinterprets Qatari landscapes, with alternating
low dunes, flooded crops, and gardens inspired by sabkhas and oases. Containing only local plants and
trees, the park tells the story of Qatar and how its people lived in and cultivated the harsh
environment. It includes a heritage garden of traditional plants and large grassy areas perfect for
stretching out on in the evening. A 430-car parking area is seamlessly integrated into the park.

• Climate studies :
The climate in the governorate is expected according to the diversity of geography, where
the mountainous and highland areas that constitute the western half of the governorate
have a moderate to hot climate in the summer and relatively cold in the winter.
As for the lowland and plain areas, the prevailing climate is hot in the summer and mild in
the winter, while the desert areas are dominated by a dry, semi-tropical climate, where it is
hot in the summer and dry in the winter.
Summer rain falls on most parts of the governorate, and the amount of rain that falls is
often small and rare, especially the eastern parts, which is one of the governorates that
suffer from drought in most parts of it due to the lack of rainfall in the governorate.
• The perfect

It is located in the Jaw al-

specifically in the Awam

• First - the cultural part
Entrances and exits:-
It is one of the most important components of the
museum, and its design takes into account:
1- Design at least two entrances (for the public - for the
service to ensure safety).
2- It must contain an emergency exit.
3- It must take great importance in the design in terms of
shape, size and location, and its area must be proportional
to the size of the exhibition and the number of visitors.
• Movement axes
There are two types of movement axes inside the
museum: -
1- Main axes: These are the corridors that connect
one hall to another, or between one space to
another, linked by a strong functional relationship.
2- Sub-axes: - which result from a change in the
levels and quality of the exhibition halls, which can
be either with drawers or special corridors for
special needs corners.

Fundamentals of library design in the
museum
1- It should be in a central location so that it can be easily
reached.
2- It must be well-lit to provide a suitable atmosphere for reading.
3-The library is placed on the ground or first floor.
4- The library’s spaces should be compatible with the nature of
the audience and different age groups.
5- Furniture consists of (reading tables - chairs for readers -
cupboards to place books).
6- It is preferable to paint the walls with a sound-insulating
material to provide calm.
7- Providing space for browsing the Internet and space for storing
and preserving books.
The relationship between the main users of the library can
be organized in three different ways:
1- One hall used for reading and storage at the same time.
2- One hall is divided by furniture into a part for reading and
reading, and another part for storing books.
3- Two separate lounges, one for reading and the other for storing
books.
