This document discusses a case study by Brun and Burgess on the use of Twitter during the 2010 Australian Federal Election. It finds that Twitter was used by the public to comment on political events and personalities rather than policies. It became a space for Australians to share opinions and engage with political parties and journalists. Over 36,000 unique users tweeted over 415,000 tweets with the #ausvotes hashtag, showing how Twitter facilitated an online community around the election.
