What have you noticed on the lyrics
of the song?
Your Love
by: Alamid
You're the one that never lets me sleep
To my mind, down to my soul, you
touch my lips
You're the one that I can't wait to see
With you here by my side, I'm in ecstasy
I am all alone without you
My days are dark without a glimpse of
you
Now that you came into my life, I feel
complete
The flowers bloom, my morning shines,
and I can see
Your love is like the sun
that lights up my whole
world
I feel the warmth inside
Your love is like the river
that flows down through
my veins
I feel the chill inside
Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the students will be
able to:
a. distinguish the different figurative
language,
b. understand the significance of figurative
language in writing,and

Figurative Language
It is the language that means more
than what it says on the surface.
Whenever you describe something by
comparing it with something else, you
are using figurative language.
Simile
A figure of speech which
involves a direct comparison
between two unlike things,
usually with the words like or as.
Examples:
Her mother is as wise as an owl.
They fight like cats and dogs
You are as brave as a lion.
Metaphor
A figure of speech which
compares directly two things
without the use of like or as.
Examples:
She is an angel.
Time is money so spend it
wisely.
Her eyes were diamonds, which
sparks in the light.
Personification
A figure of speech which gives
the qualities of a person to an
animal, an object, or an idea.
Examples:
The sun smiles at me.
You can hear the trees whisper
in the dark.
The stars winked in the night
sky.
Hyperbole
An exaggerated statement used
to heighten effect. It is not used
to mislead the reader, but to
emphasize a point.
Examples:
I’m so hungry I could eat a
horse.
I’m so tired I could sleep a year.
That boy runs faster than a car.
Figure Me Out!
The teacher will flash sentences. You
will then determine what figurative
language is being used in the sentence.
There are corresponding boxes with
points for you to pick. If you got it right
then you will get the point.
