This document summarizes the structure and contents of the Fever chapter from Boenninghausen's Therapeutic Pocket Book. It describes the 7 original subsections on circulation of blood, cold stage, coldness, heat, perspiration, compound fevers, and concomitant complaints. 5. ARRANGEMENT OF FEVER CHAPTER IS AS FOLLOWS :
In the Allen edition :
• First division has conditions of the blood as : Anaemia,
Congestion, etc. objective and subjective symptoms of the blood
vessels, also pulse characters.
• Second division, formerly called Cold Stage, what we termed
as chilly stage is chilliness.
• Third and fourth divisions have been reversed, and we find the
variations of the symptoms of the fever following immediately
after the chilly stage.
• The cold symptoms follow the heat, and the symptoms covering
shivering follow the coldness rather than the cold stage
(chilliness).

6. The rubrics devoted to perspiration follow in the old order, with
their modifications.
Compound Fever covers certain variations in the onset of chill, heat
heat and sweat, and their alternations.
The old seventh division, Concomitant Complaints, are scattered
more or less throughout the part, immediately following the old
divisions.
