Fero Strata Mesh and Strap are designed to provide additional underground surface support when rock bolting. They are manufactured in Australia with strict quality controls. Strata Mesh is made in various sizes up to 6m long by 2.4m wide using electric resistance welding. It is tested regularly to ensure high quality. Strata Strap, including W-Strap, increases the area of surface support. Products are available in different finishes and can be customized. Fero provides strata support solutions to mines across Australia.

Strata Mesh, Strap and W-Strap are used in
conjunction with friction stabilisers and other rock
bolts to provide additional coverage in ground
conditions where bolts and support plate cover
is not sufficient. The ability to overlap the products
enables continuous coverage of the rock surface.
Fero Strata Mesh is manufactured in house at our
Perth and Brisbane manufacturing facilities using
the latest in electric resistance welding technology.
This enables Fero to manufacture Strata Mesh
up to 6 metres in length and 2.4 metres wide, and
to customise product in a range of configurations
to assist in optimising bolting patterns. The mesh
is manufactured with minimal overhang of line
and cross wires to eliminate material handling
injuries on site.
Strata Strap is used in conjunction with friction
stabilisers and rock bolts to provide additional
ground support by increasing the area of support
provided and conforming to major irregularities in
the rock. Fero’s strata strap range includes W-Strap
and Strata Mesh Strap, which was developed as an
alterantive to conventional W-Strap whereby the
wire construction allows for simpler hole alignment.
Strata Mesh Strap can also be supplied with an arch
for use in shotcreting of pillars.
To ensure a consistently high quality product,
Strata Mesh is weld-shear tested in-house every
300 sheets and torque tested every 50 sheets.
Strata Mesh and strap are available in untreated
steel, pre-galvanised or hot-dip galvanised.

Strata Mesh & Strap
Strata Mesh is primarily used in conjunction with rock bolts when additional support is required in
underground mining and tunnelling. The mesh straps are pulled into the rock surface by rock bolts
and conform to irregularities in the rock. Ranging from 4-8mm diameter linewire and crosswire
with standard 100 x 100 apertures, Strata Mesh can be customised to suit specific mine site
requirements. The wire construction method of the strap allows greater flexibility in hole alignment
and fit to the irregularities with the rock surface. Can be supplied in bright wire, galvanised or hot
dip galvanised coatings
W-Strap
Fero W-Strap is rolled from 1.9mm steel coil and shaped to form a
‘W’ with multi-holes spaced 300mm apart. The W shape of the strap
grips the rock surface and increases the area of support when used in
conjunction with rock bolts. W-Strap is supplied in standard lengths of
2.4m, 3m and 6m with other lengths available on request and can be
supplied in un-treated pre-galvanised or Hot Dip Galvanised coatings.
Chain Link Mesh
Chain link mesh offers an economical and durable solution for underground surface support. Fero offers
chain link mesh in a standard galvanised finish in a variety of continuous roll size configurations to suit
specific mine requirements. Standard widths include 1.8 and 2.4m and standard length rolls 10m, 15m
and 20m.

The ground support mesh manufactured and supplied by Fero Strata for both domestic and international mining
markets is manufactured under strict controlled conditions to meet the stringent requirements of mining ground
support applications.
The ground support mesh manufactured at Fero is subjected to rigorous in-house testings (refer to table below).
These tests are conducted at our Western Australian based Laboratory located at our Kewdale facility as well as
periodic testing at NATA accredited laboratories, ensuring compliance is met and maintained.
