Notes:
1. Thursday: Test on Polynomials. Adding, Subtracting,
     Multiplying and Dividing.

 2. Still some tests to scan, both scores will be posted,
     lowest will be dropped
3. Weekly Khan Academy grades to be posted. First 2
weeks of third quarter posted after Wednesday's 80%
    last chance.
4. Reminder: New scoring schedule. 4 points for each
correct answer, 8 consecutive is 100%. 7 out of 8 is
28%.
If you use a hint, you get no credit for that question.
Warm-Up

 1. 9 - 3(x + 2) 2.. Solve for 'a': 5 - ax = 15 + 3x

3. Solve the systems of equations: 5x + 3y = 6
                                                             3x -
2y = 5
4. Simplify: (2x2 - 3x + 4) + (x3 - 3x2- 5x + 2)

                            5. Multiply: (x - 5) (x + 7)

 6. Factor: (15x6 + 9x5 - 12x4 + 3x3)

Dividing Polynomials
Part I: Dividing by a Monomial:
 1. Take each term in the numerator and divide by the
denominator. The result is now a monomial divided by a
monomial for each term. Solve as usual.
                18x4 -10x2 + 6x7
                         2x2
Part 2: Dividing by a Polynomial: (Long Division)

We will divide x3 + x2 - 5x -2 by x- x-2 x3 + x2 - 5x -
2; 2
Step 1: Find the highest degree terms in both the divisor and
the dividend. In this case, that would be x and x3.
