Look oh-so-yummythis season.Lemon yellow, peach, strawberrypink and floaty fabrics with girly frills are here to
satiate your sweettooth. Sheetal Anand gets experts to help you indulge in colourful
decadence
Get the flirty-girly appeal
Nishka Lulla, celebrated couturier says,"Candycolours are beautiful to the eyes.
They instantlybrighten up the mood and add to your personality.Lovely, feminine
clothing can be created using candy shades on delicate floatyfabrics.Add on frills
and volume and you have sugar sweet girlyattire.
While candy coloured Indian ethnic wear is big this
festive season,candy-hued denims like bubblegum
pink, lemon yellow are hot right now among the youth
brigade."
Delhi-based fashion designer,Nida Mahmood adds,
"Candy shades are much in vogue with colour
blocking as one of the biggesttrends this season.
Mixing and matching is the key to achieving a smart
and irresistible look.Colours like brightpinks,orange,
candy yellow, minty green thrown in with eclectic
blues are big this season."
Show off your true colours
Candy shades can also be softened to get a fairy-tale like appeal with the use of feminine fabrics like organza, chiffon
or georgette. However, apparel designer Nachiket Barve enlightens,"Candycoloured outfits should be age, skin and
silhouette appropriate. The way to wear them is to combine them with neutral colours like white, black or brown. You
could also balance their brightness with pastels ofthe same hue.For instance, you can safely wear a bubblegum pink
shirtwith a tan jacket."
Try candied accessories and makeup
Like a black dress? Wear a hot pink beltwith it. Yes, brightcoloured handbags, shoes and belts are a must-buythis
year. They can jazz up your look instantaneouslywithoutbeing sickeninglysweet.Nishka adds,"Candycoloured
shoes with contrastheels, charm bracelets and frillyshortskirts are the bestparts of every girl's wardrobe."
You can extend the sweetlook to your makeup too.Try a combination oficy blue eye shadow with softpin k lips.Or
take to a coral blush thatwill give you a warm sweetglow. It looks fabulous!
Choose your palette carefully
Colour needs plentyof thought before it can work wonders. So,while colour
blocking, choose shades thatare the direct opposite on the colour wheel, like
clashing pink and yellow, green and black.Try colour toning if you're wary of
super brightshades.Use colours within the same family, blue and purple or
green and lemon for a more grown-up look.Else optfor colour pop in which
you use one colour on one item, like a citrus dress or an aqua shoe.Wear
them simply.Don't add fancy buttons, prints, stripes, embroidery, glitter and so
on. It's a complete mis-match!
To create a mouth-watering candylook remember thatbold colours need a
bold outlook. If you are wearing candy shades, expect heads to turn, and enjoy
it!
