2. WORK EXPERIENCEN GAIN
I sent my siwes application letter to The Federal Ministry Of Agriculture and Rural Development
and to The Federal Ministry Of Finance Abuja , but I was accepted at the Federal Ministry Of
Finance, under their Internal economic relations and Agriculture department.
I resumed work on the 14th
of June 2023 , to the office and my work basically was to receive
incoming files and letters, I'll register them in the incoming register and take them to the boss
(MRS LUCY OKPANACHI ,DD) to work on and after she has acted on it , I'll register them in the
outgoing register and dispatch them to the office that is being passed to .
Many letters came in concerning the Agriculture and food security of Nigeria, from
organizations like ; World Bank , Islamic development bank, federal ministry of Agriculture and
various states in Nigeria including Ekiti State, which contains requests from the Government to
better/ improve Agriculture in Nigeria, most of the request were made by organizations and
states , our work is to assess it and take the budget to the President's table , but these
requests after being met by the Government needs Agriculture Extension workers to carry
them out , request were made concerning farming materials and technology, if the
Government meets those demands , extension workers are needed to deliver these materials
and technology such as seeds , fertilizers etc. to the needed state / area .

3. Agricultural Extension is a service or system which assists farm people, through
educational procedures, in improving farming methods and techniques, increasing
production efficiency and income, bettering their levels of living, and lifting the
social and educational standards of rural life.
Agricultural extension is the application of scientific research and new knowledge to
agricultural practices through farmer education. The field of 'extension' now
encompasses a wider range of communication and learning activities organized for
rural people by educators from different disciplines, including agriculture,
agricultural marketing, health, and business studies.
Extension practitioners can be found throughout the world, usually working for
government agencies. They are represented by several professional organizations,
networks and extension journals.
Agricultural extension agencies in developing countries receive large amounts of
support from international development organizations such as the World Bank and the
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

4. Importance, scope & objectives of Extension Education:
1.Extension uses democratic methods in educating the farmers.
2. Extension Helps in adoption of innovations.
3. Extension helps in studying and solving the rural problems.
4. Extension increases farm yields and improve the standard of living of farmers
5.Extension makes good communities better and progressive.
6. Extension contributes to national development programmes
Scope: It includes all activities of rural development. So extension programmes should be dynamic and flexible.
The areas indicating scope of Extension are listed below:
1. Increasing efficiency in agricultural production.
2 . Increasing efficiency in marketing, distribution and utilization of agricultural inputs and outputs 3.Conservation,
development and use of natural resources.
4. Proper farm and home management
5.Better family living.
6.Youth development.
7.Leadership development.
8.Community and rural development.
9.Improving public affairs for all round development.
so therefore extension workers are needed in large number and needs awareness because they play a large role in the
development of Agriculture and food security.

5. POULTRY FARMING
Poultry farming is the form of animal husbandry which raises domesticated birds such
as chickens, ducks, turkeys and geese to produce meat or eggs for food.
IMPORTANCE OF POULTRY FARMING
1. Poultry farming provides a high yield.
Much capital is not required to become a poultry farmer.
Lots of spaces are not required to begin poultry farming. You can start with your
available area.
Poultry farming might be immediately lucrative.
Only fewer maintenance is needed for poultry farmers.
You can easily acquire a license for this business.
You are raising agricultural products that have immediate demand.
Employment opportunities on multiple levels are created.
Most financial institutions & businessmen will approve lending packages for poultry
farmers.
It has a quick return on your investment.
Marketing is very easy

6. RECOMMENDATION
 Government should endeavor to improve their business
relationship specifically in funding of companies that have
SIWES students as a way of adding importance to the
scheme in reality.
 Students should learn to comport themselves well in these
companies so as not to send a bad signal which may
discourage such company from taking or accepting future
SIWES students and ensure that their four months of SIWES
should be strictly adhered to because there is really much
to learn.
 Companies should show more commitment to the training
of students so as to improve the quality of training given

7. CONCLUSION
 My training here has given me a broader view to the
importance and relevance of Agriculture Economics &
Extension in the immediate society and in the whole world, as
I now look forward to impacting it positively after graduation.
 I have also been able to improve my communication and
presentation skills and thereby develop good relationship with
my fellow colleagues at work.
 I have also been able to appreciate the connection between
my course of study and other disciplines in producing a
successful result.
