●Use a comma and a coordinating conjunction to connect two
complete sentences
● Basic structure:
● Subject + verb + object, [conjunction] subject + verb + object

● This creates a compound sentence

● Use a comma before the conjunction when joining two
independent clauses
● No comma needed when joining:
● Two single words
● Two phrases
