2.  When learning the system use the beta
website on Family Search or the sandbox
as it becomes available.
 Sign in with your LDS account.
 Look for the red rectangle in
Family Tree to make sure you are
on the beta website.

3. The Beta website
can be played with
and used without
changing the live
system.

4. Click on name to view
Summary card.
Click on View Person to
show detail screen.

5. Click on [Open] to view
Family Members.

6. Controls for hiding or
showing children.
Click on [Hide All], [Show
All] or [Children] to adjust
view on screen.

7. Couple box – click on
[Edit Relationship] for
details about couple.

8. If needed you can delete a
couple relationship.
This would be a good place
to attach a marriage record.

9. For an extra, unneeded Marriage
event - Click on Marriage date to
view edit box.
Click on [Delete].

10. Type in reason and click on [Delete].

11. Changes can be viewed by
clicking on [Show all].

12. Scroll down to view All
Changes. Click on [Go Back]
to return to Family screen.
Option: Click on
[Restore] to go to
previous Event.

13. Hover mouse over
child to activate
view box – click
on [Edit
Relationship] and
relationship
screen appears.

14. Use this screen to
delete or edit people
and relationships.
This would be a good place to
attach a census or birth record.

15. Click on Name to access edit
box. Click on [Remove] to
delete, Click on [Change] to
replace with another man.

16. Fill in name fields – leave other
fields blank for a wide search.
Click on [Find].

17. Scroll down list to find person
Click on [Select] or [Add].

18. Explain reason for replacement
and click on [Change].

19. Don’t be discouraged if you see
this sign in Beta. The system is
being updated. Give it an hour
and try again.

20. Father has been replaced
with different man.
Click [Go Back] to return
to Family Screen.

21. Different Father
and only one
child in family.
Repeat steps to
exchange to
original Father.
Click on [Edit Relationship] to
return to edit screen.

22. Click on [Biological] to
access edit box.
Click on [Edit].

23. Edit relationship box appears.
Click on down arrow to choose
relationship.

24. Fill in event fields and
reason, click on [Save].

25. Relationship changed,
close edit box.

26. Click on [Go Back] to
return to Family screen.
Options: Click on
[Show all] to view
or restore.

27. To add a person or
relationship, click on
[Add Spouse].

28. Find Person is a default screen,
Click on [Add Person] to add a
new person to the data base.

29. Fill in Name and Event fields
and click [Continue].

30. Possible match! Click on
[Select] if same person, click
on [Add] if this is a new
person.

31. New Person and Marriage
relationship added.

32. Click on [Add Child] to
add a new person as a
child into a family.

33. On default, Find Person
screen, type in Surname of
child and Father’s name
(a parent search).
Click on [Find] to view list of
possible children.

34. [Select] person or [Add] as new to system.

35. Agnes Meta Duner is now
added to this family.

36. Hover mouse over
child’s position to
activate view box and
click on [Edit
Relationship].

37. Click on [Delete Relationship] to
remove child from family.

38. Type in reason for deletion and
click on [Delete].

39. Child removed
from family.
Click on [Edit Relationship]
in Couple box to show
relationship screen.

40. Click on [Delete Relationship] to
remove relationship from couple.

41. Type in reason for deletion and
click on [Delete].

42. Click on [Show all]to show
changes and restore.

43. Person Changes screen
shows all changes. Click
on [Go Back] to return to
Family screen.

44. Scroll down to
view everything.
Click on [Restore]
to go back to
previous change.

45. Only change people and
relationships with good
sources and reasons.

46.  Making changes in a Family is easy in this
user friendly program.
 Keep a record of your proofs or sources in
a personal pedigree program on your
home computer.
 Remember family relationships are open to
be edited by anyone so Reasons are
important! State them clearly – have
proof!
