Patricia Minuchin
Has been interested in
bringing a developmental
orientation into clinical work
with families and a systemic
perspective into
psychological research
Pat's conception of this
arena with outline theory
encouraged general
developmental theories and
research, some of which
echo back to family
systems.
Her book, "Working with Families of
the Poor," (second edition 2007, co-
authors: J.Colapinto & S.Minuchin),
sets forth a developmental systemic
approach to moving service systems
toward a family orientation, training
workers to be systemic, while helping
foster care systems in NYC to evolve.
 Pat has left behind university
and research to immerse
herself in the efforts of people
concerned with helping
families to function better, and
service organizations to
become more humane and
effective.
