1. Facebook Vs. Google +
I chose this topic because I use Facebook regularly, and I heard Google plus was good
competition. I found out that these websites have a lot of similarities and plenty of differences,
including games, chatting, privacy choices, and overall appearance.
Facebook and Google plus have plenty of differences in the chat software they use. They both
use a video chat option, but while using Facebook you can only video one person, if you use
Google plus, you can video up to 10 different people making it easier to keep up with all of your
friends. Also with the Facebook application for mobile devices, there is no official chat and is
very unreliable. But you may use third party apps such as AIM. If you choose to use Google
plus chat, (Huddles) You can download an app for your Android phone, and keep in touch even
on the go. Another good thing about Google is you can make your chats private or public
Looking at the privacy settings for each site, Google has some interesting new developments,
like personalize your groups by topic, and you can use a drag an drop feature to manage them.
Unfortunately you cannot exclude groups from specific status updates. With Facebook you can
also group friends by topic, but it is not as simple as Google. But, you can exclude any one from
specific updates. Using both of these websites, I prefer to use the Facebook settings, they have
ease of access and allow more personalized security changes.
With the newsfeed and location options, Google + and Facebook have some similarities,
including appearance. You can update photos, status, videos, links and location with friends. As
well as viewing all of your friends updates. But with Google + you can upload photos and videos
instantly from mobile devices. And instead of the "like" on Facebook there is the +1 option.
Although, Facebook still has some things that google plus still hasn't integrated into their website
yet like asking questions and polls.
