5. Corsair Description
The corsair is an American single seat fighter
aircraft that was used in World War 2. It was one
of the fastest planes used in WW2. It was used on
both land and aircraft carriers. The aeroplane was
nicknamed the whistling death because when the
aircraft dived it made a whistling sound. The
Corsair ended production in 1952 with a total of
over 12500 were built. The corsair shot down a
total of 2140 enemy aircraft. The most famous
pilot of the corsair was Gregory Boyington with 28
victories under his name.

was originally designed for the Japanese navy.
