This document discusses diabetic retinopathy, which is damage to the retina caused by diabetes. It can be non-proliferative or proliferative. Symptoms may include blurred or fluctuating vision. Diagnosis involves eye exams and imaging tests. Treatment options include laser surgery, injections of corticosteroids or anti-VEGF drugs, and vitrectomy surgery in severe cases. Nursing care focuses on managing risks, teaching patients how to care for their eyes, and reducing anxiety.
This document discusses computer vision syndrome and blue light exposure from digital devices. It notes that prolonged screen time can cause eye strain, headaches, and dry eyes due to accommodative and convergence demands. Blue light is linked to eye fatigue, dryness, and potential retinal damage over time. However, blue light is also important for circadian rhythms. The document recommends taking breaks, using glasses to block blue light, staying hydrated, and consuming bilberry which contains antioxidants that may protect against blue light damage. Maintaining good posture and having regular eye exams can also help prevent computer vision syndrome.

ECG:
●ECG is a graphic record of the electrical activity of the heart.
●Electrical activity precedes the mechanical activity of the heart.
●Electrical activity has two phases:
Depolarization- contraction of muscle
Repolarization- relaxation of muscle
ECG Leads:
●6 Chest leads
●6 Limb leads
1. Bipolar Limb Leads:
Lead 1- Between right arm(-ve) and left arm(+ve)

Normal ECG:
Waves of ECG:
P Wave
•P Wave is a positive wave and the first wave in ECG.
•It is also called as atrial complex.
Cause: Atrial depolarisation
Duration: 0.1 sec
QRS Complex:
•QRS’ complex is also called the initial ventricular complex.
•‘Q’ wave is a small negative wave. It is continued as the tall ‘R’ wave, which is a positive wave.
‘R’ wave is followed by a small negative wave, the ‘S’ wave.
Cause:Ventricular depolarization and atrial repolarization
Duration: 0.08- 0.10 sec
T Wave:
•‘T’ wave is the final ventricular complex and is a positive wave.
Cause:Ventricular repolarization Duration: 0.2 sec
Intervals and Segments of ECG:
P-R Interval:
•‘P-R’ interval is the interval
between the onset of ‘P’wave and onset of ‘Q’ wave.
•‘P-R’ interval cause atrial depolarization and conduction of impulses through AV node.
Duration:0.18 (0.12 to 0.2) sec
Q-T Interval:
•‘Q-T’ interval is the interval between the onset of ‘Q’
wave and the end of ‘T’ wave.
•‘Q-T’ interval indicates the ventricular depolarization
and ventricular repolarization,
i.e. it signifies the
electrical activity in ventricles.
Duration:0.4-0.42sec
S-T Segment:
•‘S-T’ segment is the time interval between the end of ‘S’ wave and the onset of ‘T’ wave.
Duration: 0.08 sec
R-R Interval:
•‘R-R’ interval is the time interval between two consecutive ‘R’ waves.
•It signifies the duration of one cardiac cycle.
Duration: 0.8 sec

Eye Care Tips For The Patients Of Retinitis Pigmentosa.pptx
1. Eye Care Tips For The Patients
Of Retinitis Pigmentosa
2. Eye Care Tips For People Suffering From Retinitis Pigmentosa
Retinitis pigmentosa is a genetic eye disorder that affects the retina. People with this condition often
experience difficulty seeing in low light and have a progressive loss of peripheral vision. While there is
currently no cure for retinitis pigmentosa, there are several steps that individuals can take to protect
and preserve their sight. The first step will be to consult the best Palm Desert eye care specialists
available at Acuity Optical.
3. Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle
2. Quit smoking: Smoking can accelerate the progression of retinitis pigmentosa and
increase the risk of developing other eye conditions.
1. Eat a balanced diet: According to the eye doctors Palm Desert, a diet rich in fruits,
vegetables, and omega-3 fatty acids can support eye health and reduce the risk of further
vision loss.
3. Exercise regularly: Engaging in physical activity can improve blood circulation, which is
beneficial for maintaining healthy eyes.
4. Protecting the Eyes:
• Wear sunglasses: Ultraviolet
(UV) rays can worsen
symptoms of retinitis
pigmentosa. It's crucial to
wear sunglasses with UV
protection whenever
outdoors.
2. Use protective eyewear: When
engaging in activities that could
potentially harm the eyes, such as
sports or DIY projects, wearing
protective eyewear can prevent
injuries.
3. Avoid harsh lighting: Bright lights and glare can
be uncomfortable for individuals with retinitis
pigmentosa. Eye Doctor Palm Desert CA says that
using softer lighting or dimming the lights in the
living and working environments can help reduce
eye strain.
5. Visual Aids and Assistive Technology:
2.Assistive devices: Utilizing technologies such as screen magnifiers, text-to-speech software, or screen readers can assist individuals in accessing digital content more easily.
1. Optical aids: Magnifying glasses or telescopic lenses can help individuals with retinitis pigmentosa to enhance their remaining vision.
3. Orientation and mobility training: Enrolling in programs that specifically address mobility issues can help individuals with retinitis pigmentosa navigate their surroundings more
confidently.
6. Regular Eye Exams:
1.Schedule routine eye exams: Regular eye examinations by
the best optometrist Palm Desert can help monitor the
progression of retinitis pigmentosa and detect any potential
changes in visual function.
2.Discuss available treatments with an experienced
ophthalmologist Palm Desert: While there is currently no cure
for retinitis pigmentosa, staying informed about the latest
advancements in research and treatments can provide
valuable insights.
7. Emotional Support:
1.Join support groups: Connecting with others who have retinitis pigmentosa can offer emotional support and the opportunity to share coping strategies.
2.Seek counseling: Individuals with retinitis pigmentosa may experience emotional challenges, such as anxiety or depression. Seeking professional help from a counselor or therapist
can assist in managing these feelings.
