Critical Illness is defined
as an individual who has
a medical condition that
is diagnosed while the
rider is in force that
would, in the absence of
treatment, result in
death within six months
or the insured has been
diagnosed with
qualifying illnesses.

Chronic Illness is
defined as an individual
who is unable to perform
(without substantial assistance
from another individual) at
least two of six Activities of
Daily Living for a period of at
least 90 days due to a loss of
functional capacity and a
Licensed Health Care
Practitioner has determined
the loss of ability to perform
the ADLs is expected to be
permanent.
