Any organization is an assembly of people: people who take risk as they manage and direct the enterprise; people who decide how much risk is acceptable or even desirable; and provide oversight of the management of risk across the extended enterprise.
Organizational culture has been the topic of study for many years.
• “Culture is how organizations ‘do things’.” — Robbie Katanga
• “Organizational culture is the sum of values and rituals which serve as ‘glue’ to integrate the members of the organization.” — Richard Perrin
Richard Anderson and Norman Marks share their views on this complex subject. They cover:
• What is the difference between the “risk” culture and the “organizational” culture? How can it be analysed?
• Who takes risk, and who should be responsible for deciding how much risk to take?
• Is there such a thing as a single risk level?
• Why do so many of us take different views of exactly the same risks? How does an organization decide which view is “right”?
• Is one person’s risk another’s opportunity?
• What about when the actions of one impact the success of another?

Engineers and other technical professionals many times find themselves promoted into management. A different set of skills is needed to thrive in this new role. Leadership is one of those skills.
The people who will succeed today are those who figure out how to benefit from, or take advantage of, continuous disarray, disorder and disruption. In this webinar, Bill Jensen will identify the habits most necessary for success in today’s world full of disruption. Attendees will learn from disruptive heroes about how they have become masters of disruption simply because they refuse to accept the status quo.
Attendees of this webinar will learn:
Five habits most necessary for success in a disruptive world.
The how-tos and why-musts of disruption.
Key lessons from disruptive heroes about how they are changing the game.
Not every new product or updated version of a product is a success. Product managers can use the same processes, proceeding step by step, yet have different outcomes. In one case they create a market-winning product. In another case, the product is a dud and fails to win over customers.
What is going on here? Why does product management and innovation "work" some of the time but not all of the time?
More importantly, wouldn't you want to know what you do to increase your success rate - more market winners and fewer duds?
This problem is common to organizations, with an average of 4 out of 10 product launches failing. But, product managers can improve their success and the organization's success in the process. And, product managers that can do that receive the rewards that come with greater success and influence.
Attend the webinar to understand why product management and innovation fails some of the time and how to decrease failure and increase success.

Challenges for Millennials Navigating the Job MarketRandy Blum
Dallas, Texas, entrepreneur Randall Blum guides a consulting company that engages with Fortune 500 corporations in boosting employee productivity and job satisfaction. A particular focus of Randall (Randy) Blum is on millennials, people born between the early 1980s and 2000, as they navigate a competitive job market.
One issue often encountered by millennials centers on recruiting technology and AI screening. With many resumes sorted by algorithms before reaching a hiring manager's desk, applicants should populate their resumes with specific keywords and profile elements. This process avoids the common occurrence of overlooking qualified candidates.
Another issue is that technology opens the doors for recruiters who do not have the knowledge base for the commission or fee-based services they provide. Ideally, a recruiting partner should have in-depth industry experience or knowledge and a feel for candidates who have the right tools and skills for specific positions.
With many millennials approaching their 40s, another challenge is appearing over-qualified for entry-level jobs with growth potential. From this perspective, seeking employment becomes a delicate balance of fitting the criterion of the position without appearing overly demanding when it comes to salary and responsibilities.
AAU Names Simone Biles and Caeleb Dressel Top Amateur AthletesRandy Blum
Randall "Randy" Blum is a Dallas. Texas-based executive who has served as president of a business consulting firm since 2018. In this role, he provides strategic guidance to Fortune 500 companies with a specific emphasis on enhancing millennial employee satisfaction and productivity. Outside of his professional pursuits, Randall 'Randy' Blum supports the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).
Launched in 1888, the AAU is a multi-sport organization with 150,000 volunteers who help operate more than three dozen sports programs. It has awarded the top amateur athletes in the United States with the James E. Sullivan Award for more than 90 years. In October, the AAU announced gymnast Simone Biles and swimmer Caeleb Dressel as co-winners of the award. This was only the third time the organization named co-winners of the award.
Biles is one of the most accomplished gymnasts in history. She is a seven-time Olympic medalist, which is tied for the most among American women with Shannon Miller, and has won 25 medals in the World Championships. Dressel, meanwhile, won five gold medals at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. Only four other swimmers in history have accomplished this feat. Biles is the fourth gymnast and Dressel is the 11th swimmer to win the prestigious award.
Kevin Kopps (baseball), Maddie Musselman (water polo), and Athing Mu (track and field) were the other three finalists for the James E. Sullivan Award.
Randall Blum Supports March of Dimes CampaignRandy Blum
Well-versed in professional development, Randall “Randy” Blum founded a consulting company in Dallas, Texas to help Fortune 500 companies improve their employee acquisition, training, and engagement efforts. When he is not managing his firm, Randall Blum supports several nonprofit organizations such as the March of Dimes.
For more than 80 years, March of Dimes has supported mothers through their pregnancies and beyond while prioritizing health and fighting for their children's survival. With the help of its donors, partners, and volunteers, March of Dimes has pioneered life-saving research and policies to eliminate the biggest health risks to parents and their babies. The organization launched the March for Babies: A Mother of a Movement campaign to continue its work by raising awareness and funds through virtual events and activities.
The campaign aims to unite communities to end preventable health risks and deaths due to congenital disabilities and other pregnancy-related causes. To support the campaign, participants can sign up as individuals or team members. Once signed up, they can connect with others, donate, share their personal stories, and spread the word. Visit www.marchforbabies.org/ to learn more.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
