- I am not an artist! One of my most memorable first map experiences was being assigned in 4 th grade the task of drawing a map of the world, to scale, on a large piece of drawing paper. That was one long week! Mine didn’t look as good as everyone else’s. Looking back, I later realized some must have had more parent “help” than I did. My parents made me do the whole thing – their job was to keep making me go back to the table until I got it done! This project can go a long way towards being a great equalizer and toward helping students feel good about what they’ve learned and can present.
