Editor's Notes

  • #6 Besides the performance gains of Exadata, every customer is looking into some type of consolidation. Lower Cost through consolation. Since the Oracle Database Machine offers extreme performance for both OLTP and OLAP workloads, customers can consolidate various pillar based or functional systems into a single machine GMB: Using Oracle’s database security options (Advanced Security, Database Vault, Audit Vault, etc.), customers consolidating workloads on Exadata can rest assured that they need not sacrifice performance and scale for security. Certified for the Exadata platform, Oracle’s comprehensive database security portfolio helps customers better satisfy their compliance mandates and protect their information from a wide array of threats, internal and external.
  • #7 The benefits that this approach provide are lower cost, higher quality of service and higher manageability than current silo approach. Some organizations are adopting a piecemeal approach to this challenge by simply virtualizing the servers. While this brings cost savings because it increases the utilization of servers and reduces the need to purchase new machines, it does not contribute to ensuring a high QoS for all apps, and it creates a more complex environment to manage as the number of entities sprawls.
  • #20 Ericsson saw Exadata as an opportunity to drive out costs while examining data on a broader basis. Previously Ericsson was only reporting cell data on a monthly basis. Now they are collecting daily cell data which as completely changed their view of the business. A half rack will drive the implementation of the cell tower database on Exadata.
