Centuries ago, Ming revolutionaries used mooncakes to secretly distribute letters that helped overthrow the Mongolian rulers in China. In the 1980s, radio was used as an effective communication tool to support rebels and share information that assisted in removing President Marcos from power in the Philippines. More recently, some similar tactics of using media to engage supporters were employed by a candidate who went on to become U.S. President last year.
